    Lots of people are asking about the Ranchero: I didn’t crush it. It’s way beyond reasonably fixing but it does have several easy to sell high value parts, so I took it to the ranch. You’ll see that video coming up later this week!

    Spent a couple years at a salvage yard in Pennsylvania,Slates Salvage.Worked on the motor pile ,a huge FREAKEN motor pile.I tore down almost everything you could think of even an old HEMI not 426, had a cutting torch impact gun and multiple sledge hammers ,broke the heads of wood handles had to make a steel pipe handle 8lbs maul.
    Rotor motors ,aluminum Buick,Lincoln engines ,olds Buick.
    Had to pull all pistons ,beat them out, all aluminum was taken off and taken to our smelter .
    A huge barrel of bolts separated, magnesium from VW engines, any carb was thrown in another pile. It was the best job .Wish I had access to all the stuff that I junked.
    They used me as the engine pull out guy . The sold an engine I’d pull it with everything nice and neat for the customers. We melted down tons and tons of aluminum transmissions into ingots ,45lbs each .What a great job it was.

    Silas, you're the master with the skid steer. Pulling things out of the brush and tall grass and placing them with ease anywhere you want them. That stuff must have been there a long time for the trees to grow up around them. Can't wait for the next video to see what else you find on that farm.

I put 2 20 dollar bills in the insurance folder over his visor. Now if he heads to work without his wallet he'll have some money. It would sure be great if we could work that fast, (in the video) but gosh would we be tired 😉 Love when you do that in your videos. Stay safe and GOD bless.

    Looks like that trk with the all aluminum trailer should be able to scale around 50klbs net weight. With a gross of 75klbs your load should be around 45klbs net weight. You can buy a scale for your loader for around $4k plus labor to install you will pay for it in less than a year. Working by yourself you have to make every move count.

    I thought it was the law in Kansas that ALL farms are required to have some 1960s and older trucks and equipment spread through the farm! Haha, but it should be! That running and driving 55-57 Chevy needs to be saved! It's not unheard of to see trucks with other brands bed on them, in the PNW either. I love that shot up and stripped out 30s shell! I like the '56 truck. If it is the original engine, it would be a 265 cubic inch. On the front right side of the engine, in front of the head, there is a flat with the engine serial number, plant, year, and type of engine. The serial number started at 1001 each year. The plant was F for Flint Michigan and Tonawanda New York. The year of the engine 1954 to 1957 was the two last numbers of the year. The last is two letters about the engine. A quick check is to look for an oil filter. The 265 did not have an oil filter, unless someone added a bypass filter connected with usually copper tubing. In '57 they started using a full flow cartridge filter low on the engine. Later they went to the spin on filter. The right person would really enjoy the truck.

    I don't read the comments very much. But has anyone suggested you buy a roll-back? Yes they are expensive. But your time is worth something, and all I keep hearing you say is you do not have enough time to do everything. A roll-back would be much quicker to hall cars and junk, and you could actually put cars on the roll back and put your trailer behind the rollback and have more cars on it. You spend all your time on the road. Haul more cars per trip and make loading easier.

    • @AdventuresMadeFromScratch
      @AdventuresMadeFromScratch  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have a rollback. My dad hauls tons of cars a day with it. I use a trailer because you can’t stack much junk on a rollback. Also, pulling the trailer behind the rollback would put it way over gvw and make it a DOT magnet. Plus right now you can’t buy a rollback even if we wanted another. None available

    • @dfranklin3879
      @dfranklin3879 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdventuresMadeFromScratch Yes, you would need that class A license to use the trailer also. Not the 18 wheeler class A but the other one.
