Giles' nightmare about Buffy is very telling. As both a mature adult and a trained Watcher, he is keenly aware of the brutal odds that Buffy faces. After all, he has access to all the previous Watcher's diaries. He has clearly grown a lot closer to her than is perhaps advisable, given what he knows about the fate of ALL previous Slayers.
And yet he sends her out nightly into battle.

4:36 The scene with Buffy and her "father" is amazing.
7:59 It was great to see the Master and Buffy interact.
    9:19 "I'm getting hungry..."

I've been out of college for 31 years and I still occasionally have the dream where I've skipped a class so many times I forgot I was taking it, and only remembered when it was time for a big test.

I think, that the dream world is about the stresses of the day, and things that you didn't finish, or things you definitely should.
If you have an unfinished REM sleep,
    you may have a nightmare.
Or over worked, and no sleep, can bring on a lack of Serotonin to your brain, and make it easy for nightmares to occur.
    Thank you Luke.
    Sweet dreamz.
    Bless

This is definitely true but sometimes my nightmares also let me know about current ‘stressors’ on my body for example I’m a nighttime tooth grinder and I will often start having a bad dream about my teeth crumbling and falling out OR many can relate to this one but when you need to wee and you keep dreaming of dirty disgusting toilets you don’t want to go into or that have the doors broken so they’re not private or weird things like that- it’s like your subconscious is telling you need to wee but don’t just let it out or you will wet the bed lol- wake up instead!

Being buried alive is Sarah Michelle Gellars real life fear. The show writers were aware of this when they wrote that scene.

"A dream is a wish your heart makes!" The Master watches Disney movies.

My stereotypical weird nightmare is that something terrible is about to happen (a big flood, a person in the house is going to turn into a zombie, a gang of killers is heading our way etc) and absolutely no one will listen to me. I keep saying "hey f*#&wits, we're in actual danger here!" and everyones like, "don't be silly, I'm baking pie" or some stupid sh!t.
    It's. The. Worst.

I've never had any of those stereo typical dreams, but the dreams I've had that were truly horrific were all dreams about real life. Those dreams spike my adrenaline to thw point where it ia actually painful. But as far as nightmares from my youth, the 2 that stuck in my head, 1 was a recuring nightmare about a Jaws 3D poster in my bedroom comming alive (I never had a Jaws 3D poster and I was between 3 and 4 when I had that nightmare, so you can tell how it really stuck with me). And the other from my childhood was a Dr. Who based nightmare where I was trapped in an underground tunnel/cave system with those robot men.

Russell T. Davies said that Buffy provided the template for the new Who. So you may have some idea about how Buffy rolls. One thing is for sure, great attentiveness is required when watching Buffy because...

As someone who had watched Buffy all the way through several times by the time New Who came around in 2005, it was so obviously heavily inspired by it. I was glad RTD admitted it rather than try to deny it.

And Torchwood pretty clearly influenced by Angel, I think.

I've never had a stereotypical nightmare. I don't generally get nightmares at all, though I did once dream I was in Jurassic Park & being stalked by a dinosaur. Otherwise my dreams are just completely random and weird lol Too bad we didn't get to see Snyder's nightmare!
