Good to see your latest update. It will look really good, especially how you've angled the shed. My depot at dean park model railway is from a BR era, so not as clean and tidy as a modern scene. Cheers. Dave
Great video. Sadly, neither the GB railfreight depot, nor the flats, will ever be on my layout, as there won't be the space, but they look really good, and I'm sure keen modellers will snap them up! One thing about the GB Railfreight depot, they could also be used as bus depots! Stagecoach Cumbria's Carlisle depot, Stagecoach East Scotland's Glenrothes depot, Stagecoach Lincolnshire's Skegness depot, or the Go North East depot at Riverside, Gateshead, spring to mind! A tip for the scenic break, the main road, is to use Google Streetview, and have that behind the road, to make it look like things are going further back. I've done that on Clydebridge Station, to make the roads look like they're going further. And yes, I did see the VW camper van behind you! I bet there will be one on the layout! Hopefully see you on the Saturday at Model Rail Scotland 2025!
Topley Dale is very much a home based layout, but we are bringing Twelve Trees Junction back out for Model World LIVE - our 1960s Southern Region layout.
The depot looks great and the flat kits looks easier to assemble than I thought it would. I noticed a Kibri kit in the background. I have a few to build for my departmental fleet.
That is a very nice update; thank you, Mike. The flat where I was born looks similar to the model you just showed us. The ground floor also had balconies. One thing not mentioned is how people get into the flats. Martin. (Thailand) and the home of the TH-cam Channel Yorkdale LNER Preservation Railway.
Looks like it’s really coming on,be great to see it once you,ve managed to get some scenics done. A wee note….be careful sanding the MDF can be nasty dust…. Really interested to see your Freight progress….
A micron or 2 makes all the difference eh?! 😂 I have a 9 storey block to build along with a double length shed so your tutorial has come in very handy Mike. 👍🏻
@@andychase16 its always handy to know what exact colours are used. I often get asked 'what grey did you use for xxxxx'....so I try to say in my videos, but with over 50 shades of grey, its sometimes hard to remember lol
I'd love to see a track diagram or full-view image of Topley Dale once all its trackwork is done. Makes it easier to appreciate a layout and its operation.
I’ve noticed that on your layout - and on New Junction also featured on TH-cam - you have black sleepers on the pointwork and grey sleepers on the trackwork - do you plan to paint/colour the sleepers in order to blend them together - apologies if there is an obvious answer?

Looking good Mike. The ‘how to’ showing the assembly of the flats is a great idea too. Regards, Colin.

Very informative video on the construction, changing into a magnificent layout. 👍👍👍

Great layout awesome depot area
Fantastic work

The Kibri kits are there for another day! The flats go together well, but it really helps to paint sections as you go.

Truly Excellent well done.
Very interesting and very enjoyable, I am so jealous!!! I am fascinated by model railways and modellers. How do you insulate and keep that room warm?

Scenic work is getting closer - more work to go in underneath first though.

Fantastic - hope you enjoy building the kits.
Mike, great update thanks. I'm also building a GBRf depot, what paint did you use please?
I was going to ask this too, but you beat me to it.
The paints used for the depot are Pro-Cote primer for the grey base colour (available from Toolstation) and blue is from Halfords - S3-310.
@ thank you

Nice 👍

Trackplan will be coming soon! Just need to finalise what is going where and how it all fits together.

KLASSE lakomotiv 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.......Fim👮🏻🚂🤚🏻
Will this layout be at the key model world live event ?
Is Topley Dale still in Mike's Garage, or has it moved?
Topley Dale is now in a purpose built train room in Mikes garden.
