He’s pleasant. But the drum machine is courtesy of the Baldwin Organ Company. Just before Roland and Yamaha offered the real thing to the general public.
I keep watching these Stairway to Stardom videos. They're like a train wreck. You don't really want to watch, but you can't take your eyes off of it. Did any of these people actually become truly famous after appearing on this show?
I don't remember his name now but there was a dancer in one episode who at least got a career in show business, he was nominated for an Emmy and got to dance with Michael Jackson, he was actually good though.
@@crixxxxxxxxx For the millionth time, it wasn't filmed in some guy's basement. It was filmed in a Manhattan public access cable television studio on West 59th Street. It's listed in the end credits of pretty much every episode. Also, a few people on the show became pretty successful, i.e. they did have some talent.
Jimmy Smiley got chops, hard to tell, is he lip synching ? I can’t tell…..could just be an added drum track which was very possible and relatively cheap in those days.
This is my new guilty pleasure
joey marlowe aka nunzie giffone ; my uncle , the greatest !
gffpau-Your Uncle could sing!He was talented.
@@flwrfan1752 Thank you

He is incredibly good.
Your Uncle was very talented. I miss the older type entertainment. May I ask without being too personal?
Is your Uncle still alive?
I feel like this comment section is like an online support/Rehab group for other STS addicts. I can't stop watching it. I'm in deep
Hi, my name is Red, and I'm addicted to STS.
The song Hairdresser runs through my head all the time.

He looks like a nice person.
He had a soul of Vaudeville.
It’s off Broadway….Camden New Jersey to be exact.
Jimmie Smiley definitely had some talent.
I feel like I was abducted by a UFO
Anyone have any info on Jimmie Smiley? Found a couple of his 45s on TH-cam but can't find anything else about him...
He’s pleasant. But the drum machine is courtesy of the Baldwin Organ Company. Just before Roland and Yamaha offered the real thing to the general public.
I’m kinda liking Jimmie Smiley. Soul/Folk fusion.
Jimmie L Smiley is kingly! Trying to see if you ever got those records out. Truly Sam Cooke with Sister Rosetta's playing!
g.leroy Tully That was back when you could have a rainbow without being a gay.
Jimmie just came along about twenty years too late. Probably one of the only genuinely talented people to have ever appeared on the show.
Joey's not bad.
Leg day for Joey
Jimmie Smiley & Joey Marlow were very good 👍
He really cuts loose at 8:52.

@@teijaflink2226 Well that's pretty cool! Thanks for the info!
The lattice room is in his future.
Good old days of great television
I meent I love this show
Man, people didn't have much talent back then, did they?
They did, except there wasn’t the same expectations put on people at that time. There was a lot less talent development available at the time.
This isn’t a production, it’s just a group of amateurs in someone’s basement recording their acts, it was never aired on TV or anthing
@@Finding457 Except for the fact that it aired on NYC public access tv, or anything.
The talented people weren’t appearing in some guy’s basement on crappy public access shows.

Joey bag of doughnuts is wacked
The inventor of the neutron bomb Samuel T. Cohen!
I have to wonder if Evie Day is in any way related to Gloria Huddle. It’s just something about the eyes.
Been in showbiz/started singing in the shower at 9 years old
Wow, I didn't know Woody Allen could dance!
thats not woody allen ; thats james cagney ( with glasses ) ; i know what i am writing about - he's my uncle
Jimmie does a great Sam Cooke but not too much. Just enough, He’s really good

I'm guessing he didn't live much long after this
