@@chrissams6230 I thought so but we'll never be sure. People are on and on about how dominant Shaq was, but they forget how many offensive fouls were not called on him (I named his elbows the snow plows) and how he would camp in the lane for 4, 5, 6 seconds. The hard part with the NBA is one or two foul calls coould swing a game. And there were a couple of those against Sabonis, one of the few guys who could ever decrease Shaq's efficiency. Mostly because with his size and strength, even old Sabonis could push Shaq out of his spots while on the other end his sweet outside shot - great for a big of his day, pulled Shaq away from the rim.

I still remember watching that Game 7 like it was yesterday. It's interesting how Scottie talks about that Portland team being too unselfish as a team hurting them down the stretch of that game. In a way, I can kind of get where he's coming from. That Portland team was very deep, but didn't have a 'go guy' like the Lakers had with Shaq and Kobe. Although I remember Rasheed played excellently through three quarters and so did Steve Smith.
The Pacers team that the Lakers beat after getting by Portland is getting a bit underrated in this clip as well. With Reggie Miller, Rik Smits, Jalen Rose, Mark Jackson, Austin Croshere, Dale Davis and others, that was a very solid team. They got blown out in Game 1, but gave the Lakers all they wanted after. A couple of games in that series the Lakers won could have just as easily gone Indiana's way.

Crazy story. I actually played with Rasheed during the summer when I was at Duke med school (and I had gone to UNC for undergrad lol). Some pros and college players would show up in the summer and play in the regular student gym. I was a good rec player so they would let me play, but dude it’s another level of athlete. Funny thing is that one of my best friends was visiting and saw me playing with these amazing players. I got switched on Rasheed near the foul line extended and my friends version is that I got so wide that he couldn’t drive around me or back me down, lol. Total BS. Reality is he was working on his perimeter game thank god. His waist came up to my upper chest darn near my neck lol. He came across very emotional and a little too fiery during real games, but he was a really nice guy in reality and one of the great tar heels. Man, do I miss playing basketball. I played until my mid 40s but then my knees and body in general would hurt so bad and I’d limp for about 3 days after playing. If I could just be 25 for two hours a week I would use it all on the court all over again.

The thing that Blazers team was lacking was a LEGIT alpha dog caliber scorer! In terms of roster depth, they were LOADED!!! Certain teams WITHOUT a true alpha dog caliber scorer can win rings at times. Like the 2004 Pistons with Sheed on the squad. But that Blazers team couldn't get the job done in the WCF that year vs. the Lakers. They were right on the cusp, but couldn't quite close it out. But man for man, that Blazers team was very versatile and talented! I think a prime Pippen on that same team would have been enough to win a ring with that team. Pip was past his prime (but still very good) when he went to the Blazers.
