I think they have/had more info on Penix than the other QBs which resulted in him being lower on the research priority list as the process played out

Caleb Williams official height is based on what USC tells people. He refused to be measured at the combine or at USC pro day. He looks 5’11” to me and until proves otherwise I will believe he is hiding his true height. Also, the Giants second round pick in the second round is 47. With all the trade speculation involving the Patriots and Giants you would think that at least one of you would remember.
I enjoy the debate about coaching styles and drafting players because I believe that a coach’s ability to design or create a system around the skills and deficiencies of his players is what separates good from great coaches. I really hope they don’t draft a franchise qb based on who fits a system they already have.

Penix is overrated, he is a great thrower of the football on vertical routes but does not see the middle of the field or throw short well. If a team plays zone facing the QB and taking away the deep stuff he isn’t effective. Also if he is pressured he doesn’t have any skill set besides throw it away. He isn’t useless but he’s not going to be a top QB in the league unless he had 3 speed vert receivers and a top 5 O line.

Both are right. Penix is absolutely not worth the 6th pick. That being said, if you trade back to 6, that may be the last spot you can get him.

His ability to play will be enough to entice a team to take a chance despite the injury history. An argument can be made that he’s QB3 on tape.
