Looks like quite a project! In 30 years of being a ham in 3 different states I've never seen or heard of anyone using microwaves! It's an art form all it's own. Maybe we'll see more people trying this in the future and get over "micro-phobia". Videos like this are a lot less intimidating than the ARRL handbooks and other written information. Thank you. There are quite a few people using 10 GHz and even some higher microwave bands. There is a 10 GHz and up contest every summer, an informal monthly microwave activity day, and in some areas plenty of contacts being made on rain scatter propagation outside of those events, especially at this time of year. Building a beacon that produces a clean signal is probably more challenging than buying the necessary pieces to build a regular station and putting it together. I am finding that out first hand!
