    This movie is the best. It’s how I discovered this treasure of a town, and architecture mecca, Columbus, IN.
    Btw: Kogonada has a new film out called After Yang, with Colin Farrell.

      It gets kind of old after the third time. Harold will always be trying to live a structured, organized, life. Kumar will never grow up. They bump into each other, make a plan to hang out, then Kumar fucks it up, usually because of weed. They travel, bicker, Neal Patrick Harris shows up and escalate their hijinks, usually because of drugs or his addiction to sex. Then everything magically works out and they go back to their former selves, never actually learning a thing.

    If I were to compare the architectural lines of a structure to a personality it may look like this. The sharp edges could be the rigid viewpoints or constructs a person has made about life or people . The curves and overall shape of the place can also be dictated by vantage points as does the colors they select for the interior and exteriors.

    I do not watch much movies but if I do it's usually independent. Watched Columbus due to Haley Lu. I saw her in Montana Story and was quite impressed. The movie that followed Montana Story was Columbus. First thing came to mind was the sailor. but did a info check. And lo and behold Haley Lu was in it. I was not disappointed with the acting of both John and Haley. But it was more than that, Kogonada has a gift. Regarding the diversity question, we need to stop that. It didn't matter to me what race John was. Nor it would if I walked into a room. Just say great acting because you are

    John Cho saying it like it is: diversity when it's forced upon you, like you did with the intro VICE, reduces him and his film to his colour.
    Why insert the 'minority' narrative into this video from the start, the film looks gorgeous on it's own. The diversity issue can be talked about after you've introduced and shown the film. Who's the editor of this video? Fire that person.

    Means little when the costar/love interest is a white woman as usual

    • @doc7000
      @doc7000 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not really, this has been for a long time a sore spot in US cinema and even though strides have been made this isn't the norm and for some reason we have regressed in the US on race relations I feel like since the 1970s.

    • @KeandraBennett94
      @KeandraBennett94 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Flip Dip not really..... when the lead is a MOC, the love interest is usually a white woman and the women of that guy's race are usually given a small role just to play up a racist caricature in order to elevate the desirability of the white woman in the story.
      Also I'm totally not against interracial relationships. I'm in an interracial relationship myself. I'm just mentioning its a common pattern, I think Hollywood can show interracial couples without one of the people always being white because we know society standard of beauty revolves around whiteness (which also fuels skin bleaching/colourism) so is it really that progressive to have a white love interest?
      There is also this theme in movies with Asian characters where the lead doesn't feel "westernized" enough, doesn't want the traditional woman/man that their parents push them to date so often times they'll go and run into the arms of the white love interest. This idea of assimilation into Western society through falling in love with a white character is such an old movie trope. It would be nice to see it be done with a "westernized" POC love interest for once
