No. She isn’t actually. Guinness and other records say Madonna is the best selling female but actually it is Greek singer Nana Mouskouri, who sold more than 400 million albums. However, many don’t count Nana because most of these were from before 1975, and because many of them weren’t certified according to modern rules, she is often seen as ineligible(much like rules stopped Into the Groove from charting). So Madonna, truly, is the best selling contemporary English-speaking pop musician of all time, of the modern sales certification model. And yes. Madonna is by far the queen of pop.

She wasn’t just big in the 80s. I was a teen in the 90s and she was seriously one of the biggest stars for most of that decade. She was constantly in the news and on every magazine cover. She then had a huge comeback in like 2005 and again dominated the headlines.

Madonna is not #5 but #1, not an 80s superstar but for all ages...She's a Woman, She's Old, She's Crazy, She has botox, She can't sing, She doesn't play the instruments....The haters will always find anything to dismiss her instead of focus on the genius she is and that's because they don't feel comfortable with anyone who still stands exactly because she was the first woman to be different from others in the music industry by free expressing her points of views and personality without caring for approval of others, the first to stay "old" and still want to work and create art, that's why she is always paying a price, because she is PIONEER, INOVATIVE, UNIQUE, FIGHT LABELS, PUSH BUTTONS. For a man to be like that was always normal on the music industry but she is a woman, she should be quiet on her place and not to be interventive and express her opinions and above all never, never try to be on a place that was always and only reserved for men and objectifying men like they did objectifying woman on their music videos since then, how dare you Madonna? Men always liked to be on command and that's why they are afraid of her...That's the reason why she is a LIVING LEGEND, A MYTH, AN ICON, THE ONLY LIVING SUPERSTAR WHICH STILL REMAINS, and was named the QUEEN (of pop). Come on guys give her a break and let her continue her artistic and genius career while she is still alive, one day when she won't be with us people will notice her importance in History, but I guess it is always like that, you must lost someone important to know his real VALUE. That's why I'm always thinking how fortunate we are to have the privilege every single day to have her still among with us while she is ALIVE AND KICKING. For me Madonna is the definition of WOMAN and will always be until I die. Sometimes I think as a Madonna huge fan she really don't have the best voice in the world comparing with other singers nor is the best dancer nor is the best this or the best that and for me this is even more the reason why she is my favourite artist of all time, because with all this "limitations" she remains above other great artists on a timeline because she has PERSONALITY, CHARISMA, STYLE, INTELEGENCY and applies that on her artistic path and surpasses herself constantly, from others we can only say: "ok great voice this artist have, this singer is so pretty and sexy,..." we only appreciate them by their technical and physical skills, but with Madonna is different we appreciate her by some of this same skills but as WHOLE, as a PERSONALITY. Everytime she bring us a new record or concert she impregnate her unique strong sincere personality on it remaining coherent with her beliefs and convictions and that's why I think people still follow and respect her. She's BEATIFUL on her own way and I am not only speaking physically which she was of course more when she was younger but she is even more beautiful as time goes by because beauty is not only what you see outside but what you perception the others give you from inside and on this Madonna is the most beatiful person in the world and History because she is such a beatiful soul and human being inside. For any reason singers like Whitney, Mariah, Janet, Britney, Beyonce, Rihanna that stood for her great voices or style/beauty comparing to Madonna never accomplished what Madonna is and done (and I'm not saying I don't like those artists) because she has that "It" factor, a "je ne sais quoi", a MAGIC MYSTERY that no one can explain but that's why she is a MYTHICAL (LIVING) LEGEND in HISTORY. Many things have been said about this woman in the past and will always continue in the present and future because we want to explain and guess who is this person and woman/human being which is always defying us. She is LOVED and HATED, but the geniuses and myths were always like that, loved for some and hated by others, the true ARTISTS AND GENIUSES were always like that originating debate because they were DIFFERENT. Today to dismiss Madonna is kind of trendy but Madonna is ETERNAL like all LEGENDS are so as time goes by and as fashions move on she will stay UNTOUCHABLE and IMMORTAL as one of the most SINGULAR human beings that come to this planet and universe. Madonna is a mix of unique physical and personal beauty that combined together made the person who she is until today: A GODDESS among GODS. THANK YOU Madonna for CHANGING MY LIFE.

If Madonna isn't the Queen of pop than Michael Jackson aint the king of Pop. As Susan Sarandon Said " There is pop music before and after Madonna." Not one female pop star after her has not copied a look or her sound at least once. Her career is the blue print. She is still the highest selling female artist according to Billboard, the artists above her are men.
FYI, Madonna is known as the Queen of Pop. That was her first concert...wait till you see her concerts over the years (especially, starting with Blonde Ambition tour) and how she set the standard for performances that followed. She's the most successful female performer ever, and up there with Elvis, The Beatles, and Michael Jackson. She's iconic.

Ok guys, just subscribed for this and hopefully future Madonna reactions! I won’t pile on here but Madonna is def the Queen of Pop😉 Before you do another reaction of her you should take a few minutes (actually about 20 min or more) and check her out on Wikipedia. I think you will have a better idea of why she isn’t just considered a superstar but an Icon. Best selling female artist of all time as well as top grossing tour by a female solo artist ever. The 2008/09 “Sticky and Sweet” tour....at the age of 50! She has been putting out all kinds of music, videos, movies, world tours and setting trends and standards for almost 40 years..... including today! Good job!
I'm glad you could see how great Madonna was at the beginning of her career. But it was just a beginning. Later on she was evolving and reinventing herself like anyone else. Not only a Queen of Pop but a Queen of creativity and reinvention.

She still makes music today dudes. How about, Human Nature, Justify My Love, Like a Prayer, Vogue, Music, 4 Minutes, Hung Up, Open Your Heart, Erotica (uncensored version) to name a few. Madonna is first and foremost a dancer before she got into singing. She won a dance scholarship to the University of Michigan, then later moved to New York to attend dance classes under Martha Graham.

I will get on the bandwagon. Madonna is the queen of Pop. She ruled the charts in the 80’s and 90’s but also had a number of hits in the 2K’s, and even a few in the 2010’s. She has more top 10 singles than any other female artist. She holds the record for most number ones on the club/dance chart (by a lot) and I believe she is among the top for number ones on cumulative charts….Most of that earned the hard way…by record sales. She also rules the charts for greatest touring artist. More than a pop star, she was a cultural Icon. Broke the mold, pushed boundaries and fundamentally changed Pop culture. AND, she is still very much in the industry today making albums and touring. Her most recent release was in 2019 and topped the Billboard album chart.

BTW she trained as a professional dancer. Madonna is an icon. She is one of a kind. The 70s,80s, 90s, were the best days and nights for dance music and Madonna was part of it.

80s? She was indisputably #1, she was #4 even in the 90s and #7 in the 00s, she has the best career an artist could ask. Not only the best selling female artist, but also the top touring solo artist. Most importantly, all the boundaries she destroyed (racism, homophobia, misogyny, agism, etc) and she set the bar for new superstars. Madonna is still standing.
Madonna is number 1 on every list, including anything 80s. She transcended music and became a cultural movement that decade. If you ranked anyone above her, especially for this category you are completely insane. I will guarantee you she is not tired or out of breath.
