In this example to me it looked like the bike lenght was assumed beforehand, and then that lenght was used to find out the direction. The amount of information in your videos and the practical applicability of it is absolutely beyond anything I have experienced on TH-cam and I would like to think I have delved pretty deep in my endeavors... For me personally this is one of the greatest formats I have had the pleasure of learning from because you spend just the right amount of time on each topic where it's kind of rapid fire but I can comprehend everything clearly in real time so I am able to focus intently without having to think about something and having my mind wander and miss a piece of information... I like the way your brain works and I truly appreciate the time and effort you are putting into presenting these.

The case for Kristen Gilbert is very interesting. My student and I calculate the probability of 40 deaths in Gilbert's 257 shifts, the probability is 7 in a billion. So yes, those deaths most likely don't happen randomly. This is cool. We need more real world applications of maths and physics in textbooks exercises.
But that doesn't prove that she did it? Although the numbers are astonishing, how can someone 'induce' a heart attack and let alone the probability of someone doing something so evil just to "save the day?" This makes no sense

A greater likelyhood of something happening does not mean that something happened or will happen for cirtain, so without any further evidence, it would make sence to convict her But the stats themselves would provide at least some correlatory lead
This video is amazing! I absolutely LOVE seeing math and science applied to every day situations, or at least situations in general, I dunno how every day some of them are. But this love is the whole reason I got interested in engineering and physics. Thanks for taking the time to make this and the other videos on your channel which are just as amazing.
Maths is beautiful! It's like solving a puzzle. Maths allows you to use the little that we know to figure the things we don't know. We use maths to see the connection between things around us. It allows us to understand the world around us. It's also amazing to consider that without maths, we most likely wouldn't have chemistry, biology, programming, computer science, physics and even more, because all the things people used to discover all of these things were built by maths! None of these subjects would be nearly as big as they are now if not for maths. I thank God for helping me see the beauty of maths.

Finally our heroes realized that they could find it by knowing where it WASN'T. There's always background noise that looks like fuzz, so all they had to do was look for a void in the background noise, and there was the submarine. Genius!
Your best bet is to probably major in either physics with an emphasis in atomic/molecular/optical or condensed matter physics. But a degree in applied mathematics with an emphasis in mathematical physics would be good too.
Pertaining to the slosh tank at 11:16, it has been determined that with a boat, when the period of a wave matches the oscillation of a boat, the boat capsizes. Wouldn't there be the same effect with a building where the swaying of the building matched the oscillating wind speeds?

Better. Create a community for people to learn the major prep way. Beyond just school, low to no profit organization that allows others who have a true passion to learn about lifes complexities to meet up collaborate and learn in an environment that isnt as assessment enforcing as school can be. And privides a collaborative environment that promotes togetherness, teamwork, and a better understanding of how concepts apply in real world situations. I feel like if something like that exists a lot more people will become more open minded and at the least have an appreciation for mathematics and physics. And at the most everyone will realize how cool engineering really is and younger kids will have a better premise to what they can expect to gear up and prepare for the work it takes to getting into the field of study. Or they can realize the work and not get into it lol. But come out still with an appreciation and understanding that they cant simply compare any other work load in a common business job to the work it takes to build such complex modes of understanding within physics and mathematics.
Your bicycle example is only correct under very strict conditions. You must state the velocity, where the contact patches for the tires are in relation to the bikes center line, and if there is loss of traction for either or both tires to judge if it is true.

You take the direction the solid line currently is at any arbitrary point. That is correct, because as soon as you step back that angle decreases. I imagine it like standing in front of a skyscraper. You'll appreciate how tall it is the most by standing right under it and looking up.

You need a solid understanding of algebra and trigonometry to take aphasics class and be succesful. Intro physics won't show you how to describe physical phenomena in there true form(calculus/differential equations) until university level. If you are a physical science major or engineering.
Nope. You need to know how to use what's called the power rule in differentiation. But that's really easy and that's all. Classical mechanics is mostly pre-calculus stuff. Lots of tricky algebra and clever trig applications though.
What about the fact that when you are going fast enough on 2 wheels, turning the front wheel to the right will make you go left and vice versa. If you dont know what im talking about, It's called counter steering. And its how professional motorcycle racers are able to make those sharp turns where they lean the bike over and scrape their knees on the ground without falling over and crashing. 🏍️

i'm also 15. extracurriculars for engineering: FRC & FTC are the best (pertaining to mechanical, electrical, & computer engineering). Science olympiad and TSA could also work if that's NOT your main thing. F=MA & Usapho are a physics olympiad. Carrara got into MIT & UC Berkeley, check out his channel too. math is helpful for any STEM major. math extracurriculars: AMC (only helps if u AIME qualify), state math contests, college math contests. Go to your local math club or school math club. For all of these, google search & youtube search your questions pertaining to all these names i gave you. really the thing that will help you the most is not me typing out a paragraph, or even 5 paragraphs, it's that you USE this info by searching it on youtube & google.
@12:03. Many years ago, I asked the question about manhole covers of persons who applied for a mechanical engineering job. You would have failed that question. A large enough manhole cover will cover a small enough hole and not fall through as long as the widest hole dimension is less than the smallest cover dimension. It is a matter of the size of the supporting edge or lip of the hole. There are many reasons manhole covers are usually round (not all are). Those reasons include, but are not limited to, efficiencies in materials used, costs, stresses in materials, ease of orientation, ease of movement, etc. I like your videos, but you swung and and missed on this one example.

Evryone misunderstands what p value refers to. In classical statistics the question what is the probability that the given hypothesis is true is meaningles. It's eather true or fals. Only in a bayesian setup can one make sense of such questions. What p values realy stands for is how inconsistant is the data to the hyphothesis given that the hypothesis is true. If the sample has a too low probability of occureing given the hyphothesis, than we coclude the hyphotesis does not reflect the data well and we choose the alternative hyphothesis.
I came to see this. This should have more likes and be at the top. Also, we cannot choose the alternate hypothesis because we have no idea of its probability too. We can only reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis. We cannot accept anything.
I don't think I'm understanding this "shift" data. How long is a shift? Is it really the case that the average relevant employee (not sure who they are) spent 26 hours per week working?

Because a correlation does not equal causation.

3:00 the bike problem was solved by Sherlock Holmes in a story i don't properlt remember. There were bike tracks on a muddy downhill and Sherlock understood where the bike went and told Watson the reason. It was not "solved" exactly, he did not tell maths behind it. But gave a little bit of logic that i was not able to understand. If i remember correctly i think it is the one story in which a football player goes missing.
Since there are 7 billions people, you can't just conclude that person is a criminal if his/her odds to be innocent is 1/million. Because with threshold 1/million you'll put 7000 innocent people into jail. 1/trillion sounds as about right threshold.

Better. Create a community for people to learn the major prep way. Beyond just school, low to no profit organization that allows others who have a true passion to learn about lifes complexities to meet up collaborate and learn in an environment that isnt as assessment enforcing as school can be. And privides a collaborative environment that promotes togetherness, teamwork, and a better understanding of how concepts apply in real world situations.
I feel like if something like that exists a lot more people will become more open minded and at the least have an appreciation for mathematics and physics. And at the most everyone will realize how cool engineering really is and younger kids will have a better premise to what they can expect to gear up and prepare for the work it takes to getting into the field of study. Or they can realize the work and not get into it lol. But come out still with an appreciation and understanding that they cant simply compare any other work load in a common business job to the work it takes to build such complex modes of understanding within physics and mathematics.

Your bicycle example is only correct under very strict conditions. You must state the velocity, where the contact patches for the tires are in relation to the bikes center line, and if there is loss of traction for either or both tires to judge if it is true.

1st, how do we know which distance we should chose between two points?
Like, how do we find the correct angle of the line?
In this example to me it looked like the bike lenght was assumed beforehand, and then that lenght was used to find out the direction.
Sure tho we can assume about how long it is based on the fact that bikes tend to be made within a small range of lenghts
But then 2nd
Why wouldnt you find the same going the other way?
If the line fits in one direction than it would fit in the other since its the same lenght between the two wheels no matter which direction the front tire is facing

You take the direction the solid line currently is at any arbitrary point.
Extend a straight line in both directions from multiple points on the solid line in accordance with that

Using the example in the video, I measure the distance at several points according to this method.
The distance he has going to the right is aprox 3.5 centimeters on my monitor (not the length of bike, but is the onscreen model, would be scaled up in any actual situation)

That is correct, because as soon as you step back that angle decreases. I imagine it like standing in front of a skyscraper. You'll appreciate how tall it is the most by standing right under it and looking up.

40 deaths occurred while gilbert was present at the hospital (257 shifts overall during her time there). When she was not present only 34 people died and that was out of 1384 total shifts. The percentage of deaths happening on her watch was really high (kind of like having a coin that keeps coming out 9 heads out of 10 flips).
You forgot to say that the throw angle that maximizes the distance, depends on air drag.
With drag the angle is smaller (typically around 20 deg)

You need a solid understanding of algebra and trigonometry to take aphasics class and be succesful. Intro physics won't show you how to describe physical phenomena in there true form(calculus/differential equations) until university level. If you are a physical science major or engineering.
Nope. You need to know how to use what's called the power rule in differentiation. But that's really easy and that's all. Classical mechanics is mostly pre-calculus stuff. Lots of tricky algebra and clever trig applications though.

find videos on youtube specifically pertaining to these requests, by searching them up. and check out Rishab Jain who got into MIT & Harvard, and people's maker portfolio videos on youtube (there's a ton of examples)
i'm also 15. extracurriculars for engineering: FRC & FTC are the best (pertaining to mechanical, electrical, & computer engineering). Science olympiad and TSA could also work if that's NOT your main thing. F=MA & Usapho are a physics olympiad. Carrara got into MIT & UC Berkeley, check out his channel too. math is helpful for any STEM major. math extracurriculars: AMC (only helps if u AIME qualify), state math contests, college math contests. Go to your local math club or school math club. For all of these, google search & youtube search your questions pertaining to all these names i gave you. really the thing that will help you the most is not me typing out a paragraph, or even 5 paragraphs, it's that you USE this info by searching it on youtube & google.

@12:03. Many years ago, I asked the question about manhole covers of persons who applied for a mechanical engineering job. You would have failed that question. A large enough manhole cover will cover a small enough hole and not fall through as long as the widest hole dimension is less than the smallest cover dimension. It is a matter of the size of the supporting edge or lip of the hole. There are many reasons manhole covers are usually round (not all are). Those reasons include, but are not limited to, efficiencies in materials used, costs, stresses in materials, ease of orientation, ease of movement, etc. I like your videos, but you swung and and missed on this one example.

Maybe a silly question, but I wonder, how the direction of a bike going circular is determined.
Evryone misunderstands what p value refers to. In classical statistics the question what is the probability that the given hypothesis is true is meaningles. It's eather true or fals. Only in a bayesian setup can one make sense of such questions. What p values realy stands for is how inconsistant is the data to the hyphothesis given that the hypothesis is true. If the sample has a too low probability of occureing given the hyphothesis, than we coclude the hyphotesis does not reflect the data well and we choose the alternative hyphothesis.
I came to see this. This should have more likes and be at the top. Also, we cannot choose the alternate hypothesis because we have no idea of its probability too. We can only reject or fail to reject the null hypothesis. We cannot accept anything.
I don't think I'm understanding this "shift" data. How long is a shift? Is it really the case that the average relevant employee (not sure who they are) spent 26 hours per week working?

3:00 the bike problem was solved by Sherlock Holmes in a story i don't properlt remember.
There were bike tracks on a muddy downhill and Sherlock understood where the bike went and told Watson the reason.
It was not "solved" exactly, he did not tell maths behind it. But gave a little bit of logic that i was not able to understand.
