Ok, just an FYI. The tail end of a line is the Taper. Ex: A line tapers at the end. The thickness of a line is it’s weight not width. Lines don’t have a consistent width when they taper, but they have weight. Line weight should be considered as it relates to light. Line art has a ton of different applications and sometimes it’s better to not finish lines to allow the mind to fill in information. Generally, the case you’d allow a line to tape to nothing is when planes are clearly defined and the respective plane is facing light. This application is called a lost edge. It allows a clear implication of value where none exists should you have a line only piece. See Scott Robertson or Peter Han or really any Visual Communication (Vis Com) class for more information.
@@kinosden2428 It really can depend on your style or what you're trying to communicate. I'm so grateful for this. The last tip was the one I needed. It was so hard to color every line in alpha lock each time. Sometimes the colors overlap so I need to do it perfectly.
if you're coloring your lines, make a clipping layer above your lineart layer! coloring on the clipped layer will make it so only your lineart is colored. i will also make a base color layer underneath the lineart and clip a layer on top of that so i don't have to worry about coloring outside any lines or missing pixels when using a paint bucket. hope this helps! :0
You don’t have to make a clipped layer to change the color. It’s easier to check the “preserve opacity” box. This will give you the same result but it’s faster to do so.
Tip: if anyone didn’t understand the “thickness” in the line art, make sure your not just randomly adding thick lines! Usually you’d see the thicker lines in spaces where lines or strands touch one another :) and make sure your not adding the thick line to everywhere the lines touch you want a variety of thick and thin!
