@@dartherus Being male is definitely not a disadvantage when it comes to getting into Harvard.
And as for coming from a poor background, you are significantly at a disadvantage and the world is cruel like that and I don't know what to say.
A lot of who gets in and who doesn't is also determined by luck. And sometimes, life is also cruel like that.
Isheka is an amazing person and I feel she deserved getting in. She doesn't have a sub-par level of English (don't judge English proficiency based solely on pronunciation please).
There are many people who probably deserved to get in but didn't but like I said, life is cruel like that and I don't have anything to say. Doesn't mean we should use our frustration to undermine the achievements of people who got in from challenging backgrounds like Isheka. One should use their frustration to have positive impact in their community instead.
@@seeamshahidnoor I'll delete my comments to avoid you discomfort with subscribers, but I hope the concerns can be forwarded and the admissions process fairness is improved.
The goal should be that admissions process evaluates more the real individual hardships each applicant had to overcome by taking action, not things the student didn't choose at birth and can't do nothing about it, like race or gender, don't you think?

I just want to say that we are from a developing country with not much opportunities or resources . If anyone here is trying to find someone that they can relate to and are not able to do so, just remember there's always a first to everything. Be your own inspiration. Don't try to recreate someone else's way of doing things. Just be the best at everything you do and don't compare it with anyone else. When the time comes, you can apply to colleges. If they accept you, you get a place where everyone around you pushes themselves to the limit everyday. If they don't, you can do it yourself. Maybe this has never been done before but someone somewhere reading this comment might be the first one to do it. Be the change you want to see in the world!

Bhaiya, Do i need SAT exam as an Arts student? Whereas Math,psychis, etc have part of SAT exam.So are there any alternative exam to get into HARVARD?

Dude, many students outside Dhaka are studying in the USA, ca, Australia, etc country. What did you mean by its "it's hard to get chance to Harvard from Dinajpur"?
this is an awesome video. I would say if you would make videos on the process of applying to the universities phase including what and when to apply, it would be much more helpful. It's more for a students like us who don't have access to many resources. anyways this a pretty helpful video.

The video was really helpful! However, the extent to which research might help feels quite vague. This might sound like some whim, but for real, there aren't too many research opportunities here at Dhaka, that too for students who aren't already enrolled in any local university. Despite all that, how do I standardize the amount of research that could give me a boost in my application?
I agree. Only a few national institutions offer good research positions like ICDDRB but that's for undergrad/postgrad students mostly. Your best bet is to work with local university professors and lead an independent research project or be like Labib Tazwar Rahman (Stanford), who reached out CERN for a research internship while being a high-school students. Proactive outreach is the way to get international research opportunities in high-school

If I study in a CBSE school till my 12th grade and the ️primary language of instruction was English,is it possible to waive my IELTS and SAT exam?
Check if the SAT is optional for places you are applying to. You should be able to waive IELTS.

My High school and colleges are different . My College did agree to give me academic transcript but the highschool isnt co-operating. They said they can only give me the proof that i passed, even tho my scores were 89+. I donno what to do, this is just :)

Will the YES programme help me boost my application for ivy league universities like Harvard or princeton?? Or will this be a pressure for me to complete my syllabus for my 12th ISC exams( I am from India) as well as the SAT test within one year?? Should I apply for this exchange program or should I consider completing till ISC from my country and then apply for any US universities??
The YES program definitely exposes you to lot of opportunities that can boost your chances. As for the other question, that is only something you have to decide for yourself.

Bhaiya did you submit an early application?? And in Bangladesh, there is no option for taking AP classes. What did you do about it?? Another query, did you apply in Princeton?

Can anyone please tell me if learning something at home counts? For example do I HAVE to join an art club, or is it OK if I get really good at it at home? It is important to have evidence for your claims. And thus, getting awards/language certifications/club leadership positions makes your claim more credible

I don't think so. You should be able to get it waived
