+Segurasegura Jorge no it isn't, castigliano has a lot of similar stuff going on, one might even say it builds on the Virtual Work method, but it is different. Just google it
Hello Mr StructureFree, any chance you can do a video on Stiffness Matrix and Plastic Analysis? I understand this may not be your field but we have exams in January and we NEED you :'(
Thanks for usefull videos 12:07 is it right I describe the M function as M = -10 ( 3- x) then 13:49 the rotation will -1/EI * integral { -1 * -10 (3-x)} from 0 to 3 = 45 ?
Isn't the virtual moment function 1KN.x - 3KNm? Did you apply a virtual unit moment when you were to apply a virtual unit load ( 8 min into the video)?
Why is it that when you try and make the moment equation starting with the left side it doesn't give you the same equation as starting from the right side if you section the beam? I thought statics should work out whichever way or I'm I doing it wrong?
hello, how do you determine the moment of real loading is -30kNm. what i mean here is how do you know the moment is negative? sorry if i sound like a noob here :(
Fahmy Hamzany the negative moment depends on the internal sign convention used for the beam. in this example, i am looking at the beam from going left to right and positive internal moments cause compression at the top and tension at the bottom. Hope that helps.
You arbitrarily assume a unit moment is applied at the location. How large the moment is, will ultimately cancel out of the equation, so to keep it simple, you assume it is 1 N-m.
Using the princple of virtual displacement with aprrox. with approximate virtual func. below determine the tip displacemen of the beam(&u=(x^2/L^2) &u= (X^3 / L^3) &u=(x^4 /L^4 ) AND &u= lnx /L^4 )
Thanks! Awesome video!!! \(^_^)/ Do you have any videos on doing PVW by using equations instead of the graphical method with discontinuity in loads? I've tried doing that but I can't seem to fully understand how to apply the method of sections. Thanks in advance!
I got 73% in Structures last year (2022) all because of you. Thanks buddy.
If you need a step-by-step on how to apply the method of virtual work for beam deflections, this video is a good place to start.
+structurefree so this is castigliano's method?
+Segurasegura Jorge no it isn't, castigliano has a lot of similar stuff going on, one might even say it builds on the Virtual Work method, but it is different. Just google it
Thank God for structurefree
"It might seems like a normal tutorial video, but it saves millions of college students' lifes." Jesus said.
can i get a witness?
@@structurefree he'll say it to you himself when you go up there man.
Thank you for the video ! I was totally lost in class but now i understand thanks to you :)
Just want to give a huge thanks for making these videos! You make many concepts so easy to understand. I really appreciate these videos!
This guys intros crack me up 😹
The way you say ''Positive' is driving me crazy !! keep it up good work !1

Structurefree!!!!!!!!! Saved me for 2 years now!!!
I gruadated previously year, thank you for everything.
You are a godsend. God bless you, child.
+Yonas Ogbai Can I get an AMEN!?!

Amen.
Seriously love your videos. I'm not gonna lie, you've helped me a good deal on a couple of homeworks and tests
where are you from?

can we discuss structure analysis
I spent 3.5 years (2020-2024) in civil engineering before finding this literal goldmine
why cant my lecturer be as clear and sensible as you??! good work
You the best, dude
Thanks for usefull videos

Do you have any videos that explain how to get the moment functions?

You are the best dude! I really like a joke at the beginning 😹😂😂
why are we using real curvature M/EI??
Isn't the virtual moment function 1KN.x - 3KNm? Did you apply a virtual unit moment when you were to apply a virtual unit load ( 8 min into the video)?
Why do you use 1KN/1KNm instead of simply 1N/1Nm that would simplify everything?
Why is it that when you try and make the moment equation starting with the left side it doesn't give you the same equation as starting from the right side if you section the beam? I thought statics should work out whichever way or I'm I doing it wrong?
Hello may i know where the 5kn came from? Btw its a good explanation.

why is the moment negative 30?
Could you do an example of this method using the Mohr's integral matrix?
thank you very much! Very useful video!!
Can you tell me how do you find moment functions?
i dont know english well but i understand it and i can make my exam tomorrow :)

okay now i get it. Thank you very much sir :)
You...I like you
Why do you apply a moment at the end of the beam instead of a downwards 1 particular load? Would that be the same?
Nvm I've already seen the video again haha
What happens if the Force is somewhere in the middle of the beam? (i.e. not loaded at the end)

How do you find the “virtual moment”. This concept makes zero sense to me and I have no idea how you got the numbers that you got.
Virtual work and unit load method are same. Aren't they?????
thank you man
good
shouldnt it be 3x-30=y ?
Thank u sooooo much
You are doing a great job! But please buy a better mic......
isnt there an integration constant?
no.. this is a definite integral
awesome
why does the moment start at -30 and not at 30?!?
Same question.
thnx a lot
I'm glad it's useful.
thank u for this, its explained way better than in our online lectures. I just might fuck them off and follow ur playlist
