    Hey, congrats on the new upgrade. I can't wait to hear the demo. I'm a little jealous because I have the A6A, the Polk 700's and the 400 but I don't have the Emotiva Gen 3 XPA-3 (money is a little tight right now). Even though the A6A do a good job of pushing the LCR's, I would love to hear how much better they sound with the Emotiva.
    Oh yeah, that small display on the A6A is disgrace. Like you, I sit back aways and the display is useless.With all the advancements they put into this thing and the price they could have done a better job on the display.

      Big thanks, man! Yeah, if/when you can an external for the R700s, you'll be able to push them harder and make em sing. Especially when bi-wired, they really open up at higher volumes. The detail really comes out, and the solid bass in all-channel stereo is phenomenal.

    Congratulations on your upgrade man!!! I've heard great things about the A6A. Your theatre room looks great! But I can't even begin to imagine how it sounds in person. I'd come to the US just to hear that thing rock, then catch the next plane back to SA🇿🇦😂. I've just upgraded from the Onkyo TX-NR686 to the Yamaha RX-V6A, and it sounds great! Had a few issues with bass management, but have since figured it out (my subwoofer phase was set to 180 instead of 0). Died on me just after two months _("Internal error")._ My dealership sent it back to Yamaha, got it back a coupla days back, and it still rocks!!👌
    However, I agree 💯 with you regarding the display screen. It's way too tiny to read! And I literally sit about 1.5m from the unit, and I can't see nothing!!!😢 I like to see my current input singal/source and where the volume is at, and which speaker configuration is active. Like when I'm watching a movie or listening to music. My Onkyo does this best!!!🎉 Hence I'm still keeping it. The bummer is it doesn't have pre-outs, so the Yamaha does everything.😢
    The other feature that I found strange is with the volume settings on Musiccast : for example I have my volume set to _Numeric value_ on the unit, but it's still in _dB_ on Musiccast.🤷‍♂️ I'd expect the two to be synced... but no. And the fact that the V6A doesn't have *_Tidal Connect_* just baffles me. Now I can't see additional info like the lyrics etc. But otherwise a great product!👍

      Thank you very much my man. Maaan the in-person sound is a thrilling experience. I'd welcome you and play any movie of your choice. Especially now with my new calibration settings, improved ATMOS, and Auro-3D, it's crazy good. The deep thunderous bass that rolls through your body and slams into your chest enhances the experience. It's no longer watching a movie; it's experiencing it.
      I heard the issue of not having Tidal before. I wonder if Yamaha only adds it to the Aventage line of receivers. My 770, the 2080, and now the A6A all have it.

    Congratulations on the new receiver! I think I'll stick with my rx-A2070 though. I just prefer a phantom center since a good one just won't physically fit in my space, and I prefer the manual PEQ to have the sound Exactly how i like it, tho I do like the "through" as well. So I think the marginal differences in sound aren't worth making the display useless and 4.4.4.4 was the endgame for me anyway.

    I have it's little brother. First time Yammy A4A user and second AVR. Coming from Onkyo HT-RC360. The Yammy is definitely better. Love the richness of it. Yeah, the display is almost use less. Get rid of the knob and bigger display. I'm thinking of what will be my next upgrade. Not sure. I want a better center. Something night and day better than Klipsh Rp-250c.

    • @PolkFan
      @PolkFan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Very nice! Yeah I used to rock with Onkyo a while back. But once I bought my first Yamaha that was all she wrote. I've been running with them ever since, and don't foresee going with anything else. I love the granularity of controls that Yamaha provides - it's endless and can be daunting and confusing to some, but the more you play with it, the more you learn of its capabilities. The clean sound and processing are amazing, and the reliability is second to none.
      For a new center channel; I think you'd be very impressed with Polks Reserve or Legend line - depending on your purse. The R400 is a monster. I was really impressed with the S30, but once I stepped up to the R400, and put some decent power on it... Maan, it'll put a smile on your face every time. I'm sure the R300 is really good also, the L400 is a step above the R400 so you I know it's really good.

      Kool, what's good bruh. It's been a while. Yeah the sound game is on lock now, and I'm still pretty content with the visuals - not ready to upgrade that yet. Plus, I'm maxed out for my TV stand. The R400 took up a lot of space, and I had to modify the stand to accommodate both the center and the TV. Without the center, it'll host up to 85. I have a nice 85 in my living room, not too pressed for it in the cave.

    should i upgrade ? i don't game on the tv as use a pc for that , i do like my
    music a lot and found the yamaha or any other receiver i have owned
    ( back to pro logic days ) to give my speakers the justic they deserve ,
    i now use a roksan attessa streaming amp for my front channels and
    wow what a different with music it like night and day ............
    the other think which i dont like with the new yamahas is a would
    have to buy some binoculars to see that display ...................
    i do like the arcam receivers and i know they will sound good
    but you hear about a lot of bugs on them , i like the yamaha app
    a lot , i think the a6a has a better dac than lower models and
    probably my 1080 which should be noticeable .

    • @PolkFan
      @PolkFan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The DACs of the new series are better than the previous 80 serious but there isn't a big noticable jump between the two. Improved sound quality? Yes, but what's it worth to you. As a home theater upgrade, it has some useful features worthy of looking at. If your focus is music, you won't see a big jump from the 80 series. Other than the pointless front display, I have no compliants. And as us Yammy users know, reliability is top-notch. These tanks will run for ages.

      L’A6A est globalement le meilleur récepteur. Cependant, le 2080 est très bon et d'un point de vue coût, l'A6A n'est pas tellement meilleur que le 2080 pour justifier la différence de coût pour une configuration principalement musicale. I just noticed your latest videos as they haven't been pooping up. Congratulations on the A6A, HT is always a on going expensive upgrades. I love my A6A I agree the screen is too small plus the remote doesn't have the display button like the older remotes which is frustrating and stupid. Do you set it on 7.4 ext setting when connecting external amps.
    Running the Emotiva XPA-3 with the A6A does it change the sound quality. Adding a external amp will be my last addition to my set up. I,m undecided which speakers to buy for in ceiling Atmos speakers. A lot of people say you don't need to spend big dollars on in ceiling atmos speakers as most movies don't have a lot of Atmos sound content output, but when it does having 4 in ceiling speakers sounds great. Enjoy your new toy

    • @PolkFan
      @PolkFan  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you very much! Yep, I use the 7.2.4[ext. Front] amp assignment. With the Emotiva, it doesn't really change the SQ because both the Yamaha and Emotiva have the same clean sound signature. But the R700s open up at higher volumes, and the extra power allows you to push them as hard as you desired. I agree with the idea of not having to spend a great deal on ATMOS speakers. Those Miccas that I talked about in the vid will serve well for ATMOS speakers. I'm really enjoying the ATMOS, having four speakers. It enhances the movie experience.

    Hi polk fan I'm a big fan of yours you taught me a lot and you're the reason I chose polk and in ceiling speakers over height speakers but I think you picked the wrong polk in ceiling speakers the Crutchfield website says polk mc80 is for stereo and music you have to be careful most of the polks are I'm going with the polk rc80i in ceiling speakers for dolby atmos and dts x and they have an aimable tweeters plus your current mc80s are voice matched with Mc in wall speakers but the rc80i are not voice matched so they pair well with all speakers you have a good ear it sounded off to you for those reasons people say you can use any speakers for atmos but I disagree with them

    • @PolkFan
      @PolkFan  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Good day my good Sir. Thank you for being a fan and supporting the channel. You're much appreciated 👊🏾. From a price perspective, I'd agree that the MC80s are the wrong speakers, but from a sound-performance perspective, they work perfectly. The RC80s have been around for a long time, and the MC80s are essentially a newer version of the RC80s. They have the same playable frequency range, both have aimable tweeters, same power handling capabilities and so forth. I could've gone with the RC80s and got the same results, while saving a few bucks. For ATMOS ceiling speakers, it really doesn't matter which speakers you go with. Just make sure they have a decent playable frequency range and power handling capability. Rarely will you find ceiling speakers marketed as "ATMOS" speakers. It's because they're all the same. It's the positioning and connected channels that makes them ATMOS, opposed to any other purpose. Likewise you could use bookshelves as ATMOS speakers, no different than using them as height speakers.

      I used to cut at 40, 60, and now 80. On my system they all sound good. 60hz is really clean, but 80 delivers more punch/ mid bass so that's where I keep it now. I'm a proponent of trying everything and sticking with what works best.

      @philippebeauplan9431 Yeah, for my movies profile, I set all the speakers to small. The fronts are cut at 80hz. So my subs handle 80 and below. For music, I toggle between the fronts at full-range and no subs, or the fronts cut at 80 with the subs.

    better mate sound of a6a ? worth upgrade ? thanks

    • @PolkFan
      @PolkFan  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It depends on the primary focus of your system build. If it's a mostly music setup, I wouldn't recommend it as an upgrade. However, if you have a large focus on home theater, I think it's worth it. The sound quality is improved with better calibrations and higher quality DACs and codes; more power and scalability. The sound is more dynamic with home theater, as opposed to the 2080. But for 2CH listenering, as most music listeners enjoy, there's not a huge jump over the 2080.

      Calibration is everything. Start with a good calibration and manual adjustments afterward to ensure the correct distance, crossover, and decibel settings. I recently posted a vid on how I calibrate my system and the tools used to achieve the results I'm looking for. I now deviated slightly from what was shown on that vid, by settings all speakers to 80db and subs to 86. Everything else is the same. Check that vid out, and I think you'll get some good results if you do the same.
      I also performed the same calibration technique to my living room setup with S15s, S35, and dual L12s - sounds really good.

      I do know - having owned both. And the answer is there's no audible difference. They both sound identical to each other. There are only aesthetic differences. I can run all needed channels to include four ATMOS speakers from the A6A. As far as room correction, no receiver has a flawless room correction. It's why you need to know how to make adjustment post calibration. Running the system calibration is only a baseline of where you wanna be. Likewise, I invite you to a live demo if you're ever in the Richmond VA area. Trust me when I tell you, these demos don't do it justice. I don't think you've ever had Yamaha's Aventage line. You need to put a polk fan logo or something like that over the footage of your demos so we can hear the demo but not watch what it is. Could also just blur it out.

      I tried that before and the vid still was snagged for the copyright claim. The YT AI picks up both the sound and image.

    Too much money, not much of an improvement over your 2080, imo.

      It depends. If your system build is primarily for music, I'd agree with that. But for home theater, the scalability of the A6A; new DACs and codecs, 8K compatibility, amongst others, take home theater to a new level and may be something worthy of upgrading to.

      I own the Yamaha A6A ...and it rocks my Klipsch speakers, and is incredible with movies, I've tried multiple receivers from Onkyo, Denon, Pioneer even Emotivas new Receivers...the A6A sounded best for music and movies, I've never heard Atmos sound so good or even The other formats, plus my subs sound best as well, I have SVS subs , never heard them hit so clean and deep , compared to the 5 other receivers I auditioned

      @anthonyh7600 Amen. 👏🏾 I keep trying to tell them, but they don't listen 😄. I remember going from first Yamaha, which was a none Aventage AVR, to my first Aventage 770, and immediately noticed the sound quality improvement - especially with the subs. Yamahas rock.

      @PolkFan , I rocked an Onkyo TXNR747 in which I still have, for 5 years, but Yamaha A6A puts it to shame. I actually own an older Yamaha from 2013, it's in my sons room and runs some older JBL'S I have, I'm glad I found my way back to Yamaha ...will never look back, I play drums ,my son plays bass and organ , Yamaha is the most musical receivers you can purchase, unless you go way up in the $5,000+ range
