I hope Argyle losing the last two games at HP is just us getting our usual mid-season wobble over and done with quickly. However, it can't be denied that the optimism around the club has faded somewhat. I strongly fancied us for a top half finish until these last two defeats but now have a perhaps more realistic appreciation of the task facing us. We have undoubtedly played well and deserved more than we got from a number of games but the issue remains, in the words of the immortal Paul Sturrock, "pointage". On the upside HP has sold out every game and there have been stellar performances so far from Hardie, Whittaker and others.
We are only going to get better. Difference between us and the other teams down the bottom is we look good and the whole club is on an upwards trajectory. We still haven’t found our feet yet, especially defensively.
Love the concept Ben, it’s a good way to summarise thoughts without having to do a full table. I think if you did a new table you’d have a couple of the ‘sticks’ maybe moving up or down by just a place or two as for example you have Cardiff in your original prediction of 21st going up in position but then the next team from your original prediction going down in position are Millwall (7th), so we viewers need to treat those sticks as ‘there or thereabouts’. Great content as always.
Ben,I`d snap your hand off for Stoke finishing 16th.Without massive improvements on and off the pitch,we`ll be in a relegation fight. We`re struggling to be a mediocre team in a very poor league.
Still seems unreal to see us in 2nd place and 8 points clear of Preston. As for the bottom 3, I’d stick on QPR but switch Sheff Wed and Rotherham around
Another great video. The top 2 can be caught by Leeds. Remember Leeds being 10-12 points clear under Bielsa before being caught, although we eventually won the league being 10 points clear of 2nd. Far too early to say current top 2 are nailed on.
The January transfer window may be a factor. Not only in what players Championship clubs manage to bring in, but more significantly in what players are targeted by Premiership clubs to bolster their squads. For example some Sunderland players (i.e. Ballard, Clarke and Roberts) seem to be interesting more than one Premiership club scouts. So if one or more Championship side loses some key players in January it could derail the second half of their season. We shall have to wait and see as it is not an easy thing to predict accurately ahead of time - we can only speculate.
Norwich higher than 9th i respect your optimism 😅🤣 we are struggling without barnes and sargent in terms of as an attacking prescence. Long way to go personally i feel it will be a bit of a transitional season with new sporting director coming in next month. Of coruse hope I'm wrong though 😊
Love this format to be honest - though a new 1-24 prediction at the end of the January Transfer Window would be interesting - as well as giving you a chance to compare both lists at the end of the season :) Sadly as a Wednesday fan I fear you are bang on about the bottom 3 clubs - in the 2 games I have seen at Hillsborough this season (Ipswich and Sunderland at home) I have seen more Sunderland goals than I have Wednesday shots on target....all I can hope is that the new manager can find a way to pump some confidence into the team - and the upcoming 3 games are all against clubs down near us - just wish 2 of them weren't away from home!!
With a heavy Sheffield Wednesday heart I probably have to agree with you. Although the new manager sounds promising and has brought about a little optimism. The ‘who knows’ factor. However what an awful squad he has to work with unless he has the Midas touch and can transform a low on confidence set of players into winners……
Farke had one of the worst individual games as a manager I can remember at Southampton. Rodon is probably the best defender in the league and the decision to leave him out was crazy. He then came out with a load of rubbish to justify the decision and it worried me. The pressure at Leeds is a lot different to Noriwch and it felt like it had got to him, which was never the case with Bielsa. We've bounced back since then but it's games we should have won. We certainly should be top 3 within touching distance of the top 2 or he should be sacked.
I'm not sure about the bottom 3... I think a couple of them can get out. Well for Sheffield Wednesday it's like the seasons just beginning. It's different for them from the rest. Because it's kind of unique so you don't know what you're going to get... They had a manager that just completely dropped the team from last season and immediately played the new signings, without getting familiar with the stadium, the fans, without the old players showing them the ropes or any introduction, or preparation to the club... Which is one of the most bizarre things that's ever happened.. And it's a big part for the losing streak. They just wasn't ready. And you saw against Huddersfield what a difference it made when the Old players came back. Strangely the best performance of the season... So it's like starting again. And I think the players on a whole will be a bit more ready. A bit more familiar with each other. But the main problem for Wednesday letting in goals.
Coventry can still make the playoffs. They have more points than they did at this point last season, despite Simms and Haji not catching form yet and O'Hare being injured. If they sign a decent midfielder in January they should do it.
Here's hoping you're wrong on the bottom 3, as they say it's the hope that kills you...but Danny Rohl looks like he good be a solid signing, hopefully he works out and Wednesday can start putting some results together that aren't losses.
Stick and twist are, historically, triggering words at Norwich with our perennial injury problems - does the player need a walking stick? Have they twisted their ankle?
I really hope your prediction is correct with coventry, id love another shot at the Play-Offs. I personally feel there is more to come from us, however if we don't make it, i wont be to disappointed. We have a five year project here, and i believe in that time we will be in the prem. 💙
Can i say, I'm happy for you to Stick with this format. It makes total sense to me. As a Leeds fan, I'd love you to be right. But we all know how things can change in the Championship. Its a long old season.
It’s all over the place at the moment. Very few teams are showing real consistency except the bottom 3 and the top 2, and maybe Leeds. I think the stick or twist is the only way forward!
@@Robertl-xz6yl He literally said in this video that he thinks they'll finish higher than the 3rd place he predicted. With Leicester top that only leaves one spot...
@@bennwardhaugh3013 well you’ve missed the point in the video then because he isn’t ranking teams exactly and has said that before about multiple teams. He thinks 10 teams are making the playoffs for example. I’m trying to get him to commit to a more precise prediction
@@Robertl-xz6yl Not at all, it would be you who's missed the point. He stuck with Leicester as top and said Leeds will be higher than 3rd. If you can't deduce from that that he thinks it'll be Leicester and Leeds then that's a you thing.
I like your stick/twist concept. Constantly predicting 1-24 seems a bit futile and you get the important information across this way. It’s a ‘stick’ from me 👍
As long as my favourite team Watford stay up in the Championship, I will be happy this season. Sadly this is how far we have fallen since the 2019 FA Cup final & tbf Watford have done well over the last 50 yrs. We've only spent 2 seasons in League One since the late 70s between 1996 & 98

Leicester Leeds Ipswich Preston Sunderland Norwich with WBA Blackburn and Plymouth the 3 main challengers for that tricky 6th place

Subtle admittance the first prediction was off. I like it.
You could still be on to a winner, Ben, because I don't think G Rowett will last

Wednesday wont go down
They've won ZERO games in 11. They going straight back down.
It's okay man, sometimes it's best to let go
Leicester,Ipswich and Birmingham to go up👍👍👍👍

Think Rovers will finally get that playoff place.
It could be an interesting end to the yr for us , a leap up the league hopefully and a potential league cup quarter final .
Millwall are slow starters traditionally,at least let us claim our 8th place at the end of the season😅
