I will say this. Ofc the animations for Doom Shroom’s explosions are terribly animated and I’m not a big fan of them using his 1st phase design for the seed packet. However I will I rlly do like his phase 2 design, especially bc it resembles his design from the first game. I feel like they should’ve had the designs for either the 2nd or 3rd phases on the seed packet, rather than his first phase.

Eh, I think Doom Shrooms explosion animation is alright. I also like that effect where the letters fall as it looks cartoony.
I think it would’ve made more sense to activate the explosion manually to replicate Coffee Bean but I like this idea enough. Doom Shroom was always a more strategically driven explosive in PvZ1 and I’m glad they recognised that instead of just making him the funny big explosion guy
I think it fair enough for Doom-shroom that bomb a half field not a whole field and start with 400 sun to buy it's fair enough

I still thinking about dumb strategy, but I forgot that this plant was not instant-use anymore, with many sun producers and already grown-up Doom-shroom I think its still viable as long as you keep spam him
Still though, since its Doom-shroom, I wonder if we can do dumb strategy in PvZ2, but honestly he's kinda underpowered compared to Ice-shroom (for now)

at a price of 400 it would be very satisfying if the explosion effect was more lively and had a white screen effect like in PVZ1 don't forget the crater

Very satisfactory. The part when he creates a mushroom-like explode looks like PvZ heroes.
I think they can increase the amount of damage it deals in the final version plus it'll definitely have increased stats and range at higher levels so definitely good plant that staged gameplay it's really interesting and good for the plant.
Basically a solar mushroom that works like a bomb that increases its size and explosion damage as it spends time immobile in the garden.
Interesting no wonder why he was short at first he's like sunshroom and when he grows his blast radius increased

growing stages also hold him back significantly. Because it needs to grow, you cannot use him in emergency / tight situations.
instead of growing stages and needs to be eaten to explode, i think activate when tapped by the player would be wayy better because it allows the player to have control of when they want to activate doom, while also keeping the passive ability of exploding when eaten (there will be only 1 stage, which is the max one obviously, and making doom like this makes him a powerful instant plant that can be stocked or preplanted, similar to doom + coffee in PVZ1)
and obviously nerf his sun cost, or maybe keep it but increase his range to an entire field
I don’t see this plant having much use to be honest. While strong, you’re going to have to bring a wall/stalling plant or plant it in the back, otherwise it won’t have a full effect. Bringing explode-o-nut instead seems better, as explode-o-nut can block off the zombies and blow them up for a much cheaper sun cost and only one seed slot.
I am willing to wait for my most awaited comeback plant, Doom-shroom, in PvZ2!

Honestly i kinda like the fact that he needs to grow up to explode but he seems too weak, firstly i would make it posible to activate him by just touching him, then i would reduce his sun cost to 250 sun, this way he would be far better at what he does

Pretty good, but in my opinion his explosion doesn't have enough umph to be worth the price, both in it's presentation and effect. Like, cherry bomb is instant, cheaper, and does not requires growing. However, being able to stock up him is an interesting advantage. Although for this price he would better be able to one shot gargantua

I think this is one of the few plants that were left exclusively to pvz1 which did return with its ability intact, they really completely ruined the simplicity of the plant and it doesn't even leave a crater which was the most characteristic thing about it :/
This is just beta gameplay, it will definitely leave a crater when the official gameplay comes out
Why does this plant actually seems somewhat balanced. I would make his sun cost 300 tho since 400 is a bit to much. But at least popcap didnt play the stupidly overpowered card

I think the doom shroom should be the same as the previous game, I don't have a problem with the sun cost, but if it can only attack some areas it's way too much. if i remember correctly, even in the pvz1 they can't one shot gargantuar, but what makes it so special because they can cover the entire garden. if they want to make the same doom shroom as in PvZ1, they would just add the cooldown. because as we know, the bomb is not for long-term attacks, but instant, so its use must really be in a critical situation. and also I prefer the previous design, they should have made the design more scary. so yeah, what i meant was if u gonna add the previous work to another game, make it same as the previous one, because its not a new work, u just add it to a new game.
also i just realize, that this doom shroom is just potato mine but can explode anytime. what exactly its point, if u can just put cherrybom that have the cost way lower than that. even the primal potato mine can do better than this. i mean, yes if its fully grow u can damage more but what exactly u want me to do, predict the future and then place doom shroom at exact point while protect it until it grow. The bomb was used during a critical situation, but how do we know when this situation will occur?

Seems like it needs a buff. For costing 400 is expensive. Yes he’s nuke, but comparing to primal potato mine it cost 50, it’s free and it takes 5 seconds to become active to be exploded and can kill zombies in a 3x4 area. Doom shroom needs to be even more destructive than Primal potato mine
It's technically more destructive but it's only the same 5x5 area as the level 6 primal potato mine (or something), I hope the levels help.
From the other leaks he gets powerful like that Strawberry plant, it has 3 stages making stage 3 more likely powerful
