I fly my FMS Beaver on a mixture of 4000-7000mAh 6S packs and if the airplane is flown scale, I can get 20+ minute flight times with a 2 minute reserve. It’s a truly fantastic airplane. So glad to see that you get it fixed up! Did you have to add any weight to the nose to get it balanced? Mine needed 10oz of weight in the nose to sit flat…
Nate you need to get you a gasser not a nitro. I would love to hear and see your excitement flying one. You would definitely get excited over the sound especially doing a high speed fly by.
@@truckerray7533 my best guess would be that the motor bolts were loose from the factory. Seeing as the motor mount was still in place after the failure this could be the only answer. The cowl just exploded because when the motor separated, the propeller twisted and chopped the cowling to pieces. I have had this exact thing happen with a (smaller) plane before
I have more than 100hrs of flight time on my FMS Beaver, and I have made a habit of taking it apart completely every couple months to inspect all of the joints, structural areas, tail and wing sockets, motor mount, etc etc. I store it with the wings off but it is a large, heavy airplane (mine weighs in at 17lbs with a battery and floats). The stress on the airframe of the airplane is flown hard definitely needs a “D-Check” as it’s called in commercial aviation. The tabs on the wings where the struts mount will become loose within a few flights. I have yet to figure out a permanent fix, it just appears that the strut mount is molded into the foam and is not attached to the inner frame.
Pro Tip: If Horizon ever offers to either send you the parts to fix it yourself, or return the plane for a new one, on a plane thats under warranty or damaged in shipping ALWAYS get the new plane no matter how trivial the problem is. Odds are HH will not have the parts in stock and puts them on backorder, and that can take 2-4 months or more, whereas they usually have the planes in stock and youll get it in a week.

Same thing happened to my Conscendo Evolution and Horizon Hobby did nothing to help me. I got ignored because I don’t have a TH-cam channel with a big audience.

THE BEAVER IS BACK !!!! Awesome. I feel complete now. I have checked with you several times since the unfortunate explosion. Great to watch this plane fly. I watched your maiden and also watched Brian Phillips fly his on their channel. After that, I had to have this plane. It is downstairs now sitting in my hanger. I choose not to fly mine as it was getting later into the fall. So my maiden will now be next Spring. Already pretty cool days and windy here in northern Wisconsin. Honestly, the RC hobby is seen almost like a perversion over here for the most part, I'm never too bothered by brands... But trying to get the right parts or a desirable plane/car/basher can be very difficult if not impossible. If HH did international orders direct I, along with many others, would buy direct. I recently got a sport cub s V2, it had an imbalanced prop and had to go back to the retailer, and allegedly back to the manufacturer for repair, took longer than I'd have believed, and they acted as if it was pilot error, videos proved otherwise. We just want a major brand/supplier like HH to take the plunge and support us here in Europe, they/we would only benefit from such a move. Until then it's bangood specials and the occasional decent RC from a more hobby grade store. Footnote, we don't want traxx*s, they're too easy to get and impossible to get help for.
It was pretty cool to see it (remember watching the video when that happened). Would not have been fun it I paid for it though haha! Thank you again for the video!
Love the Beaver. I actually have a video on my TH-cam of Lakeland airways up in Marten River in northern Ontario taking off. This is my favorite airplane and my second the cl 415 water bomber. Beavers are float planes btw!😉 Put some floats on that thing. What opened up the Canadian north!
Thanks Bill! On and off are honestly about the same amount of time, and because of the sweet plug system it has on the wings and not having to mess with plugging in each wire (ailerons, flaps, lights) it goes So Much Faster. Maybe 3 minutes per wing half? Rough guess, maybe as little as one minute but I haven't timed myself doing this. Plug in each half, body clip holds the wing strut on, then two bolts screwed in per wing half, four in total. So yeah probably closer to three minutes per wing half. Hope this helps!!
Great flights...love mine. Horizon took care of me way over here a couple of years ago when my new C150 Z had a brown out & smashed. They shipped a new body & wheels that were totally damaged...all the way to Australia. Wonderful service.

I would not shave that back, and I’m actually going to start adding water bottle plastic behind my propeller to make that engine noise louder! lol… you gave me a bright idea and reminded me of sticking a cup in the spokes of my bicycle when I was a kid to make it sound like a motor! lol… I am a newbie flew my beaver v2 first time yesterday. My nerves were shot! I have to wait a month before I try it again, but I had 2 good landings. Impressive great first landing. Are you still anti expo? On this kind of plane not quite as important. It does fly awesome.
I’ll second that about horizon on customer service. They sent me a new flight control for one on my helis.
This looks like a frickin AWESOME airplane -- and what better day to have it spring back to life than Halloween 🎃
I was just happy to get him back home in one piece.! 😂😂😂 I might be the only new guy who buys a freaking beaver while learning! 😂 Happy flying!
🤣🤣🤣 should call it Saylors monster, tip of the hat to Frankenstein lol
