Thanks so much for sharing this tool development. I'm a new technician practicing to get certified. I am just now regulating my own Grand Piano (for practice) and would love to have/use this tool. Since I am just doing my first key leveling, It seems amazing that such small incremental changes (i.e. the punching thicknesses) on the balance and front rail can have such a large impact (e.g. the need for a 7:1 ratio [magnification] explains/helps a lot with my intuition. It would seem that the balance rail is much less linear (punching thickness to key height) and the front rail (punching thickness to key depth) is more linear (i.e. punching thickness directly "equates" into the actual key depth) - but I'm still learning....

Probably a bit late to say it, but, if I'm remembering right Balance punchings have a rough 2:1 ratio, punching thickness : key height change.
      That said~
If a key needs to go up 0.010" then you could do 0.005" and it might be a little too high.
