First ICCPUD Community Engagement Webinar on the STOP Act and Underage Drinking Prevention

This community engagement webinar on October 24, 2019, featured Johnnetta Davis-Joyce, Director of the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and two experts in the field on the prevention and reduction of underage drinking. Dr. Ralph Hingson, National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), described an overview of the national and state landscape related to underage drinking, including data on who is drinking, where youth are drinking, and why youth drink. Dr. Elyse Grossman, Policy Consultant, provided an overview of the legal landscape related to underage drinking, including a discussion of policies tracked in the State Performance and Best Practices for Preventing and Reducing Underage Drinking Report and concluding with suggestions for what states can do moving forward.
