  • Women in rural Kenya are at risk for a wide variety of challenges, such as poverty, HIV/AIDS, and human trafficking.
Through a partnership between the Salvation Army World Service Office and The Salvation Army in western Kenya, the WORTH program helps women face these challenges by empowering them with the skills they need to become self-sufficient.
Over 20,000 participants in over 900 WORTH groups learn literacy, numeracy and bookkeeping as they create and manage their own savings and microfinance systems.
The women teach each other valuable job skills, and often go on to become successful entrepreneurs, leaders and employers, strengthening their communities and providing opportunities for their friends and neighbors.
The Salvation Army’s WORTH program: Empowering women in rural Kenya, and beyond.
