You picked one of my favorite films of Purple killing it. Been a fan since 1970, just saw them 3 times this year. The best. Thanks for the clip.

That lead that Ritchie plays beginning at 7:09 exemplifies his genius and why for me he is the greatest guitarist of all time

Despite the technical difficulties you were experiencing Pope, lol, you still got right into this amazing performance by one of the best rock bands ever, Deep Purple. Richie Blackmore man, just one of the best. Your reaction videos are always fun and cool to watch...this one's in the top three! You should definitely react to more of this band. "Fireball", "Black Knight" are just two of the early 70's singles and then there's even earlier ones called, "Why Didn't Rosemary" and "Wring that Neck", the latter of which may be part of this concert, though I'm not sure. Peace.

A studied improvisation that was later used and improved upon at the end of "Space Truckin", "Mandrake Root" being a song from the first Deep Purple line-up.

That was one of the best reactions to anything I have ever seen! And part of it was your own camera going AWOL, like it was losing it's mind! Deep Purple are a force of nature, particularly with this early 70s line up. You didn't know whether to be shocked or laugh your ass off. So you did both which was awesome! I will see if I can find the other one you mentioned from New York. I have subbed man!

My dad was in the Navy and Commanding Officer of a Navy installation at an Air Force Base. He was sitting in his office and saw a huge purple plane landing on the runway outside his office window. He laughed and remembered that I had tickets to see Deep Purple that night in concert. I think it was 1974 and I was 18. Well, their equipment collapsed the stage, and they cancelled the concert. Bummer! I did see them in 2017 when my son took me for my birthday!

California Jam 1974 where Ritchie Blackmore wrecked Havoc. Busting up an ABC television camera by putting his stratocaster's neck through the lense(something like that) and having his Marhall stacks blowing up. All this while eluding authorities in a helicopter. Legendary imho.

Very impressive but Ritchie Blackmore's guitar theatrics were after Jimi Hendrix had already trodden that path so feel a bit copycat to me (check out Jimi Hendrix Experience at Monterey in 1967), that said not many guitarists could do this to strat (intentional mistake) with!
