I have 2 good Taco Bell memories ... 1. For lunch, we would buy those 10-20 crunchy taco box packs for cheap, probably around 10-20 years ago. It's probably more expensive now. 2. I remember the chihuahua mascot television commercials, even for the Godzilla 1998 movie, as it reminds me of those times in the late 1990's.
I still laugh at 2:20. The actors have faces like they're totally enjoying the taste of their Beefy Tostadas, but they're not even eating them. They're just touching the food with their lips and saying "yum, yum." I noticed in these 80's commercials the customers are dressed casually. In looking at late 70's commercials, there are Taco Bell commercials where male customers are dressed in suit and ties and the women are equally as dressed up. I guess Taco Bell management was under the illusion that going to their Taco Bells was the same as going to a wedding.
That's actress vernee Watson she has been acting since the 1970's on shows like welcome back kotter she played will smith's mom in fresh prince of Bel-Air
Worked there in high school 86-88… a regular taco was .39 and it cost them .19 to make…a bean burrito was .59…used to get 2 tacos and a bean burrito for 1.37 plus tax…
70’s,80’s… the best!!. 90’s started the demise thanks to the WONDERFUL Bill Clinton!!. It’s gone to 💩 since then and has NOT slowed up!… BUT I guess it has to get shittier before the end I guess!!. Hell,at least I had a few good years!!!. 🙄
Yes, I agree. I plan to replicate the 1980's style Taco Bell seasoned Taco meat, refried beans, Taco Lites, Mexican Pizza, right in my own kitchen. If I am successful I might make videos to share with you all. If I can find the right accessories, I would like to fry a Taco Salad shell in a Dutch oven since it is deep enough.
The third commercial was from 1979. And I’m a 4 year veteran of working at Taco Bell. Even seen the original location when it was parked outside of their headquarters in Irvine.
I was born in '87 so it's kind of hard for me to imagine any kind of fast food being as dirt cheap as it was back then by today's 'dollar value' standard.
LMAO "Make a RUUUUN...for the borrrddder!" Reminds me of when I was a kid and my Dad when he'd hear that jingle "Yeah, run for the border, then run to the toilet to take a shiiiiiit!"
I miss the times taco bell used to sell toys. I remember that when i was little, my parents would take me to taco bell in the weekends and always made sure that i would get a toy. My most favorites were the goosebumps and Nintendo 64 themed toys 😊
Oh gosh. John Dye in that first one. Seeing his face and hearing his voice again hurts; I've been kinda avoiding watching any of his stuff since his untimely death... (yeah, yeah, I know, it's been over a decade now, but sometimes it hits me out of the blue)
2:15 that's a #Lie i used to work for Taco Bell and it was frozen meat bags that they place in a hot water box meat heater and they do that to the bag of nacho cheese sauce.
I had a manager who told me how in her teens in the 80’s she worked for one, and it was pretty great. Not only did she stand by the food quality, saying that they actually chopped the lettuce, tomatoes and onions and shredded their own cheese but the beef quality was legit. And cooked in store, not just everything in sealed bags that needed only to be either dumped out or re heated. So it was better food quality for such less prices. I was born in ‘84 and Taco Bell in the 90’s was still the cheaper fast food alternative compared to the other chains, and still tasted good and never left you feeling ripped off. Now for like a couple tacos, one or two specialty items and a drink it’s like $40 :/ it’s like a Simpsons joke from the 90’s only it’s reality now.
in high school after a Sat soccer game, my friends and I would each get TEN tacos and a "Paul Bunyan" Pepsi (essentially a gallon bucket). I think that cost $4
Seemed taco bell didnt know WHAT to make their jingle for awhile lol seems they sticked with "taka-taka-taka taco bell" since... They obviously couldn't keep using the other one XD
I used to go to Taco Bell all the time as a kid growing up in the 80s. One time while eating a tostada with with grandma, I took a bite of it after eating about half of it, and there was actual boogers in it. I swallowed it whole. I knew that because the employees at Taco Bell were making it just for me, everything would work itself out. Just after finishing my tostada, I went for the Beef encharitos, and noticed a larger man walking by and sitting at the booth behind us. He wouldn't stop arguing with his wife Meredith, who was large as well. Both of them had some taco salads, but both couldn't figure out who's had olives and who's didn't. Well, they ate the wrong ones and ended up throwing up all over the table. Some of it splashed on to my meal, but I still ate it. Because it was made just for me. Thank you Taco Bell. I will always be back. Oh, and grandma died later that day. They made her food just for her, and she died just for them.
For $20 you could feed a family of four or five maybe six. Nowadays, it’s that per person. I know a Crunchwrap Supreme, five regular crunchy tacos and a medium happy hour drink was almost $17 and that was for lunch this afternoon.
@@l0sts0ul89 I know what you mean. It is outrageous to think that is a meal for a family of four. I feel bad for the kids with a dad that cheap. Lol the wife too.
KLAS-TV Channel 8 Aired The Taco Bowl Salad At Taco Bell 1984 Commercial Taken From The $100,000 Name That Tune Jim Lange And The Price Is Right Bob Barker
Undeniably better times than today and yet, we can't go back. If we try to be radically conservative and bring back the old days it won't solve our problems. We won't have the economy we did, just look at that dollar. I remember .39 and even .10 cent tacos at taco restaurants. Heck, in 1987-88 Taco Mayo in Oklahoma did those 10 cent deals where you could eat until you were dizzy for nothing. Now even the cheapest developing places in the world like Thailand are charging roughly 1/3rd of what we charge for things. The global economy is just inflated, it's not even America. Bizarrely, 20 years ago Japan was unaffordable and now you can live on about 1/3rd of what you need in the US. That's bonkers when you think about it and if you eat taco bell there you'll probably have 3x the menu with some cool teriyaki tacos or something that you can't get state side.
The Bible says that we are all guilty of breaking the Ten Commandments of God (Romans 3:23). As a result, we all deserve to go to Hell because none is righteous, no not one. (Romans 3:10). But the good news is that you do not have to go to Hell (John 3:16). Jesus Christ loves you so much that He died on the Cross for your sins and if you Repent of your sins and Accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior then you will be saved (John 3:16). Jesus is calling on all to repent and you know longer have to live in despair but in love, joy, and peace through Jesus Christ. Amen.
