PAINT SHOP // Painting Time-lapse // Air India Manila Folder 777-300ER

  • This video documents the process that went into applying the Air India livery/gloss to the model 777 I'm constructing. The actual painting process took over a month, and there's a lot that isn't shown in this video, simply because there wasn't enough time (in the song).
    You might ask why I even bothered to "paint" on the livery, given how subtle it is-I didn't want to ruin the manila folder look with actual paint, so clear gloss seemed like a better option. It's hard to see under normal light, but at the right angles it's definitely visible.

    And this is how you keep people whatching the whole video by making them wait for the magic moment when you reveal all that actual paint you promissed in the title.
    Please understand that my critique is not directed towards your work or the model, which are both amazing. It is just a shame that you used such a misleading title and description.

    • @olotocolo
      @olotocolo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      +Christian Lang (MasterTRL) I have problem with more than a title. Seriously, the model is superb, why not paint it? Or at least the parts that are "different". What is the point of those "shiny" spots, they are barely visible even in darkness with light on big angle. I'm sure there is reason the actual paint can't be used but there has to be SOMETHING.

    • @MasterTRL
      @MasterTRL 8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Naxster I disagree with you there. Of course the guy can totally decide how to paint or not paint his own creation. It's not like he has to follow any rules if he does this just for himself. He let's us take part in what he himself loves and I appreciate that. Only the fact that I,because of the misleading description, actually expected some colour bothers me.

    • @olotocolo
      @olotocolo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Christian Lang I'm not saying he CAN'T do that. I'm saying "dude, why?" Maybe there is actually good reason, I just can't see it and I weep over unused opportunity.

    one question, how do you make such tiny strips of tape?

    • @bumbledouche3323
      @bumbledouche3323 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Can't speak for the poster, but I use a metal ruler & a scalpel over graph paper (helps keep the widths consistent)... The result is the same, thin strips of tape.

    • @stephentroyer3831
      @stephentroyer3831 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Help me understand the process. Is the ruler what the tape sticks to as you cut the strips?

    • @bumbledouche3323
      @bumbledouche3323 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Stephen Troyer
      Stick the tape down onto something flat, but don't press it down so that you have to peel & tear to get it off. You need to select an appropriate tape for this to work so that it doesn't lose its stickiness. Use the metal ruler to guide the scalpel blade as you cut the tape into strips. It gives crisp, clean strips of any thickness you desire.

    Just read the description, instead of commenting like stupid infants, if you don't like or think you have wasted your time here, stop complaining or blaming this guy! I find this "alternative" way to paint that model still interesting, and the manufacturing process in this as well as the other videos is awesome... Non sense speaking is useless! (e siete anche testedicazzo)

    • @DaviLu
      @DaviLu 8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      but the title says "painting" and that's why everyone expects paint and not invisible stripes sticked on it.

    • @vaulthecreator
      @vaulthecreator 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Davi Lu and would the title saying "clear coating" or "varnishing" make it any more interesting? Did you even read the description?

    • @danwood5163

      +Deimos Station people are complaining because when they see paint shop and painting time lapse in a title they expect it to be painted in colour... I am the same. I expected it to be painted in colour and was a little disappointed when it wasn't, and other people are taking their disappointment out here.

      Was doing the cockpit hard, because I saw a picture of it and it blew me away at how much detail you had put into it from the throttle levers go everything else. I still can't believe that this is out of Manila folders and paper. Amazing job! Are you going to do this with other aircraft as well?

    • @lucaiaconistewart
      @lucaiaconistewart  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Planelover4life Yea, it was pretty hard, partly cause of the detail but also because it was just really hard to access the space to install stuff. Glad it's over with! But I'm still working on this model... don't have any other planned atm as this has taken me years (on and off).
