You not only need generals like Patton and Rommel, you need staff officers, G1, G2, G3, etc. And their staff officers who can devise a plan to submit to the general. You need subordinate colonels, majors, captains, lieutenants and sergeants who can competantly carry out "the plan". Patton was an aggressive commander, but he did not win the war on his own.

@timrider1224 It's taken longer than I would've liked, but Ukrainian R&D is starting to appear. Their Neptune missiles were almost ready when the war started. The unmanned navy is coming along nicely, including adaptation to launch aerial drones and lay mines. I expect torpedoes will be next. I know a little over a year ago, Russia started turning off cell towers near targets (right after the first strike on the oil terminal in Saint Petersburg). I think Russia figured out that SIM cards that work with cellular data were easy to obtain, and no satellite data was necessary. They have started revealing new cruise missiles/long range drones, and have long-range ballistic missiles soon. Russia did use an ICBM to strike the factory that used to build most of the first stage for Antares, but I think that isn't a major issue. Since Ukraine was a big source of not only tanks but aircraft engines, rocket engines, and ICBMs in the USSR, it's only a question of time.

In the latter stages of WW2, some proposed Allied plans that had been drawn up to [prevent any further birthdays for the moustachioed Austrian] were shelved because they reasoned it was actually better for him to remain the man in charge. 100,000 Ukrainian desertions seems to be the latest figure. In many western news outlets. 10,000 Russian is the highest figure I have seen.
Imagine fighting on the Front Lines for your Country only to survive and when you get home the the new Communist Gov't gave away all your Property to "the people". I recommend watching the movie Dr Zhivago (1965) for an amazing depiction of just that happening.
When Doctor Zhivago gets home from the front lines not only did they convert his Mansion into a Hotel for the People when Dr Zhivago was gathering planks of wood from the street to burn to keep his child from dying they arrest them and send him to the Gulags.

Great analysis. Slava Ukraine, Slava democracy!
Are you crazy? Democracy in Ukraine? Zelensky's presidential term expired long ago and he cancelled elections. All opposition in the country has been destroyed. There is only one TV channel broadcasting Zelensky's propaganda. Men are hunted in the streets and sent to the frontline by force. Even Orthodox Church has been destroyed in Ukraine and the temples turned into movie theaters and gyms. Bandera, a notorious Nazi is honored as a national hero in Ukraine. What democracy are you talking about?
Ukraine is not a democracy it's government is there as the result of a coup and Zelenskis term as president has run out months ago
There's no victory
Democracy? Where?
No wonder the US supports Nazi dictatorship in Ukraine. Zelensky's presidential term expired long ago and he cancelled elections. All opposition in the country has been destroyed. There is only one TV channel in Ukraine broadcasting Zelensky's propaganda. Men are hunted in the streets like dogs and sent to the frontline by force. People are fleeing the country risking their lives. Even Orthodox Church has been destroyed in Ukraine and the temples turned into movie theaters and gyms. Even A. Hitler didn't touch the Church. Bandera, a notorious Nazi war criminal is honored as a national hero in Ukraine. What democracy does the US defend in Ukraine?

You not only need generals like Patton and Rommel, you need staff officers, G1, G2, G3, etc. And their staff officers who can devise a plan to submit to the general. You need subordinate colonels, majors, captains, lieutenants and sergeants who can competantly carry out "the plan". Patton was an aggressive commander, but he did not win the war on his own.
There is next to no maneuver warfare on the modern battlefield. Everything is seen all the time. All modern wars are going to be trench hellscapes with drones overhead.

The Russians can’t possibly keep this up for much longer. Their economy is crashing and they don’t have men to do labor. Their oil production infrastructure is being destroyed daily and they will be running out of fuel for war and civil purposes. Also I love this analysis some of the best I’ve heard. If only Prigozhin hadn't made that fatal mistake to retreat from his march to Moscow, the war would have been over. Instead Prigozhin got "the Putin treatment" and this mess still continues.
We've been hearing that for nearly three years now. It was bollocks then and it is bollocks now. Putin's pacing it: Russia's not even breathing heavy. Ukraine, by contrast, is a battered economic and demographic husk. We're in the last year of this war; by midsummer, absen unconditional Ukrainian surrender, Russian forces will hold the whole country east of the Dniepr.

It's not terribly shocking. We taught and equipped them maneuver warfare. They're just putting it to use in an area that isn't covered by the world's largest minefields.
instead of offing themselves, they should get rid of their command
Fascinating discussion from two highly intelligent minds.
They accurately describe the state of the war and it demonstrates the contrast of reality vs a manipulated perception.
The danger here is the fact that perception shapes politics and policy MORE than reality does.
This is why the battle for the “narrative” is so important and why discussions such as this are so valuable.
Thank you gentlemen!
I believe Russia lost 430,790 in 2024, the 45,000 losses quoted was for December 2024.
There has been permanent forced mobilization in Ukraine for years, but in Russia there was only one long time ago. This indirectly indicates rate of mutual losses. People from the frontline, not western of course report terrible stanch from Ukraine’s corpses scattered all around because Ukraine doesn’t want to remove them.
@robinmcbride4057 Thanks for clearing that up. US certainly lost more than 45k in 4 years of fighting during WWII.

The Russian soldiers morale has to be bad. When their casualties are so high they know they're doing suicidal missions.
They are ordered to not surrender and end themselves.

NATO needs Ukraine…they bring to the table everything that NATO needs…morality, technology, skills and vision
I think you forget the reason NATO even exists.
Ukraine is a country you want on your side.
Ukraine has been developing new weapons and advanced technology that is the envy of the West. With the largest and most battle hardened army on the continent, Ukraine would be a huge asset to the alliance.
Along with a heck of a lot of experience fighting a 21st century war.
CHUCK: I think you MISSPOKE when you said that Russia lost 48,000 men in 2024 (6:40). Based on different accounts, Russia lost between 43,000 and 48,000 men IN DECEMBER 2024 ONLY!
He got all a bunch of numbers mixed up it was confusing
@@GodGuy8the numbers are never accurate because Russia hides the real numbers. ( so they sound better than they are ) And Ukraine exaggerates their loses to sound like they need more help(which they absolutely do)
Maybe he meant 480k in 2024
That is not the largest issue, a few seconds later 7:08 “… of that 48,000 they have lost 780,000 … “
Not an issue at all. He mentioned 48 000 russian soldiers lost their lives
The 700 000+ figures is the total loses - crippled soldiers included
