  • This episode of Grounded looks at EUJet, a low-fare airline that operated a small fleet of Fokker 100 jets. Initially an ACMI operator headquartered in Shannon, Ireland, EUJet soon transitioned into a low fare airline and established a hub at London Manston Airport, an airport that was the better part of 75 miles away from London... Despite being under common ownership with Manston Airport the airline collapsed within 10 months and dragged the airport bankruptcy as well. This is the EUJet story...
    **PRODUCTION NOTES**
As you may have noticed, this episode is a week later than planned. I'd had quite a few problems whilst putting this episode together, the worst being that a large part of the audio file had been corrupted meaning I had to re-record the audio on the Thursday and re-time stamp everything to try and put it together on the Friday ahead of the Saturday release. I tried my best but just couldn't manage, these two week turnarounds don't always go to plan :/ Hopefully this one is worth the wait :)
I mention quite a few airlines in this episode and I've covered two previously, I'll be working on the rest soon :)
    Gill Airways
Gill Airways was a regional airline based in Newcastle and considered "The Northeast's Own Airline". They operated a myriad of aircraft types over the years with the pretty unique Shorts 330 & Shorts 360 turboprops as well as ATR 42 & 72s and even some Fokker Jets, two of which ended up with EUJet.

    Air SouthWest
Air SouthWest were a small regional airline based in the South West of England, they operated small fleet of Dash-8 turboprops. Like EUJet they were also owned by an airport, in this case it was Plymouth Airport who had established the airline to fill a void left by the Axing of British Airways' flights.
    • Grounded: Air Southwest
I really appreciate any comments and feedback on this or other episodes as well as suggestions for future episodes. Believe me, if I say that your airline is "on the list", it really is :) Check back to see future episodes or better yet, subscribe to catch them as they land and as always, thanks for watching!
