I was taken aback by the 10 year job outlook declining 10% for computer programmers. On the same website it says the outlook for Software Developers will increase by +25% and for Web Developers +23%. Looks like the job title computer programmer is just not as relevant anymore.
I stumbled upon the same data. The true elephant in the data is - how they did the estimation ? I don't know much about this and I haven't looked but if they make a rough estimation for the period 2021 - 2031 mostly on the basis of the previous 10 years and the economic projection for the future but made in 2021 then this data can be totally wrong because, you know, shit happened at the end of 2022 and now. Potentially life altering shit.
Interesting and informative video. Recently I got over a 5-10 year video game addiction. I was one of the best players and used alot of ahk scripts- I understand the basic logic behind programming but have limited experience. I need to get my life in order and that involves either studying a trade or IT. I sometimes wonder if because of AI tools and no code software am is it even worth starting from scratch and learning to code for employment. I'm a smart guy and work hard when I focus but If it's just better for me to go trade school and learn a skill I know won't be outdated. But tbh I'd much rather become a dev than a labourer.
Thanks! Curious, which game were you playing? Learning to code will help with any work that requires a computer, so I always recommend at least learning the basics. I think the generic advice of "follow your passion" is actually applicable because you'll be naturally more inclined in improving and learning. Best of luck in getting your life in order.
Hey, what did you end up doing IT or trades? I'm on the exact same situation, overcame my big gaming addiction and now only play max 2h per day for fun. Now in 2024 the tech job market is in a horrible state meanwhile trades need a lot of workers, but I'm not sure if I want to do a physical job for 40/50 years.
Which programming fields do you anticipate will be in higher demand by companies, and what advice would you give to beginners on which areas to specialize in? ✌️

That is a great point.

Did a good choice picking computer engineering. Can just swap from software to electronics.

These are great questions. Perhaps will make a video on this.
