"Sean, good points, especially about having fun. I snap into the "Professor" mode as soon as the camera is rolling. I've been on TH-cam for over 12 years, with 1100-plus videos, and yet I still learn so much from your generation. Do we work hard, work smart, or work fun? I choose the latter. Mahalo! 😎🤙"
I plan on doing more hikes this year therefore more videos. Hikes+videos= filming experience which over time will equate to better quality and better story telling.
i totally agree with the clickbait thing. everytime i see someone doing the surprised face im like NOPE. if that's the kind of creator you are i dont need it.
Sean...all great points. Still working on 'relaxing' myself in front of the camera. Though, do find it harder to deliver 'technical' information off-the-cuff. People are impatient and I feel like I often have to 'quickly' and 'precisely' deliver technical information. One mis-spoken word and people are quick to point out your mistakes....but totally agree with what your saying.
Yeah 100%. Its a tricky one to master and I am always working on it myself too. I think its nice to just pretend you are explaining to a friend even when it comes to the more technical aspects. But mixing the two is hard for sure.
I use AI to create “reference” for my art, but I haven’t yet started using it for helping with the writing. To, spark creativity as you say. I know ppl think that AI robots are going to take over, but it’s not really like that. Making GOOD videos takes a ton of time and these things can help
In summary...be true to yourself and be true to your art! Thanks Sean. It's always nice to be validated on what your gut tells you....and u validated what I have been feeling over the last year or so . Rock on!
About the intro, I use them to give some context of what the episode is about. What was previously, what's coming in this one (I document my journey through learning table tennis competition at the age of 51). Intro is a time I can put a new watcher into my story and get a bit of the challenge he'll be watching. Sometimes it can be long, sometimes it is short. There is no rule about it according to me ;-).
NO to long intros & fluff! When I’m looking for “How-to”, I don’t want to see your dog, your kid, your massive collection of…whatever! I just want info! “Entertainment” is a different video.
Thank you for this! Its helpful to know more especially with the project I am working on right now, it would be great to know more tips especially since I'm just starting out.
lol i'll miss making job interview type tutorials hopefully starting from this year! tbh still trying to get used to with talking to a camera but thanks a mil for sharing these tips brother.
Haha yeah its a hard one to get used to but just practicing is the best thing you can do. And hey, at least one day you will be really good at job interviews lol.
Amazing you are able to continue to come up with good, relevant content which makes a difference. I keep growing as a 'film maker' (I am using that term very loosely) due to your help! Thank you! My thumbnails suck and would like your opinion on whether it is good, bad or causes any problems to redo thumbnails for existing content? I will have to check out your vlogg channel as I didn't know it existed. These three questions may be more appropriate for that channel but will leave them for you to think about: When is it appropriate to use a voice over? Second, what guidance would you give regarding the use of music and when it should be playing vs having no music and just having the back ground sounds be present? Do you have any insight or guidelines on volume levels when talking and or the length of time you should take to change the volume levels throughout a video. Keep up the great work! I really appreciate your efforts and amazed at your ability to crank these videos out!
Ah awesome to hear Jeff! I don't think its too damaging to change the thumbnail. Especially if your click through rate is lower than usual. Voice over is a tricky one, I guess it depends on the project and feel there needs to be more perspective or info that the footage doesn't portray on its own. As for levels and when to use music, such good questions that I actually have a video coming out on this soon ;) but generally background music is around -22 for me.
I’ve met people from my audience, and a few of them said to me they feel like they know me personally :)

Haha definitely the best way to work hey! Especially when it can healed the best results anyway. Glad you enjoyed this one!
Who is planning on absolutely killing it with content this year?
Meeeeeee!

"It's not a job interview". Ouch! Guilty as charged :)
Sean, thanks for another great video!
Haha yeah don't worry it still gets me too.

Ah happy to help and a nice perspective that you are taking from the video. Keep doing you ;)
@@seankitching For sure!
Just discovered your channel and you give good PRACTICAL advice not like the same thing I’ve heard over and over again-
You had me at the first tip b/c i definitely get super professional in my vids :( lol another great vid - thank youuuuuu!
I'm in 100% agreement with the clickbait crap. I see that and I won't click on it...even from people I sub too sometimes.
Clickbait fatigue Im telling you lol
I see what you did there. The clever inclusion of "generic audio" which was actually a conversion to an advert.
I’m also sick of a set up then “let me explain.” These days if I need info fast I’ll just scroll to “conclusion” in the chapters.

Yeah that is a super good way of looking at it. Nice to use it in a way that works for what style of content you are creating for sure :)
Being authentic, yet still 'being a value add for the viewers YT experience is my goal.
Yeah 100% agree with that
NO to long intros & fluff! When I’m looking for “How-to”, I don’t want to see your dog, your kid, your massive collection of…whatever! I just want info! “Entertainment” is a different video.
haha exactly right!
Spot on! Subscribed.
Great tips once again 🔥

Click bait thumbnails is the reason I don’t want any financial TH-camr anymore.
