  • How does your rhythm sound in your heavy dancing? Here's 3 simple drills that will help you focus on your basic rhythm & technique.
    Ask yourself:
    - Is my front foot fully connecting with the floor?
    - Is the rhythm in my back foot strong?
    - Can I sing the rhythm I'm trying to make?
Remember... Working on your basics never stops. Keep strengthening those foundations!
What other short tutorials could I do to help you on your Irish dancing journey? Pop me your suggestions below & do share this video with any of your friends who might find it helpful! :)

I'm 59 and was trained in ballet as a child. For several years, I have needed a mobility device due to health issues but would love to get back to dancing. I fell in love with Irish dance when I bought the DVD and VHS recordings of Riverdance and Lord of the Dance and watched them addictively while recuperating. I saw similarities to tap and ballet and I'm using videos like these, as physical therapy excercises and hopefully will gain my strength back. Thank you for showing the basics. I may not get to championship level but I'm having fun !!!!😄

Thank you for actual tips. I once told someone I struggled with my rhythm and she told me I should work on it, I asked for tips and didn't get any.

I have been doing these dills for five days. I can definetly feel and hear the difference. It helped me to be more precise in rhythm and connect better with the floor. Also, the back foot is more active and sounds better. Thank you for sharing! xx

Wonderful video. Thank you. I just placed highly in adult trad at MAO but still felt I could’ve attacked the floor more. This has helped.

As a guy who east coast swing dances in the US. It's interesting to see similarities between swing and Irish Dance.
