    Marrying will Smith is what kept Jada in the public eye the past 20 years.

      No, you're proving my point. Like I said he wasn't doing her any favors at the time they got together. Being White America's "token" wasn't the draw. Andrew based his argument on success levels that Will hadn't reached yet. He's always been a star. A corny one. She gave him credibility in black America he may not have been able to get back to. JADA was connected to an extremely SUCCESSFUL NBC early 90's Bill Cosby associated spin off, one of theee most popular TV shows of all time. In a iconic role in Set It Off that became a staple of black culture. Was connected to Tupac the most popular hip hop artist at the time and doing other MOVIES. Will damn near lost his credibility with black culture after Six Degrees of separation. He wasn't doing her that much favor. She wasn't capitalizing off of a piece of what he's become since then. You're confusing his popularity for what he's become.

    Back in Nigeria as a kid, Will Smith was my fav actor. Everyone, even those in the rural villages knew him as either Fresh prince or the hero that saved the world from aliens and killer robots. I didn't know about Jada until Willow Smith waved her hair back n forth. She is the least influential Smith in my opinion.

    Actually, Charlamagne & Andrew are both correct. Jada was a big deal in our community/culture, but she wasn't a big deal on a mainstream level until she dated & married Will Smith. No shade, I love me some Jada, but facts are facts. Will (lowkey) upgraded her.

  • @kh7688
    @kh7688 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Jada never had a box office hit as the solo lead. It's either been an ensemble cast (Set It Off, Madagascar, Bad Mom's, Girls Trip). Or it's been minor roles in hit movies (The Matrix series, Collateral, Magic Mike XXL). As much as she may be loved within Black culture, in the wider world. If Jada wasn't married to Will, her death would barely make the news. Jada is more famous as the wife and mother of three stars, than she is as an actress.
