The difference between thick peanut butter-like honey and light watery honey, especially when sourced from a ranch in Mexico, typically boils down to the following factors:
1. Moisture Content
Thick Honey: Has a lower moisture content, making it more viscous and spreadable. This is often due to:
Bees having more time to reduce the water content during honey production.
Storage in drier conditions that prevent absorption of moisture from the environment.
Watery Honey: Has a higher moisture content, making it lighter and more fluid. This can result from:
Harvesting honey before the bees have fully capped the combs (indicating it's ready).
Exposure to humid conditions.
2. Floral Source
The type of flowers available to bees impacts honey's texture. Nectar from different plants varies in sugar composition, which affects how honey crystallizes or remains fluid.
In Mexico, ranch-based honey might come from unique flora like mesquite, avocado blossoms, or wildflowers, which can influence consistency.
3. Temperature
Thick Honey: Cooler temperatures can cause honey to crystallize, resulting in a thicker texture. This is a natural process where glucose separates from the water in honey.
Watery Honey: Stays fluid in warmer climates or if it naturally has higher fructose levels.
4. Processing
Raw, unprocessed honey is more likely to be thick and grainy because it contains natural particles (like pollen) that promote crystallization.
Filtered or heat-processed honey often remains liquid longer and may have a lighter, watery consistency.
5. Storage Conditions
Improperly sealed honey can absorb moisture from humid air, leading to a runnier consistency.
Honey stored in cool, dry places thickens over time.
If the honey is from a ranch in Mexico, its texture might reflect the local climate, nectar sources, and traditional processing methods. Thick honey might be prized for spreading on bread, while watery honey could be ideal for mixing into drinks.
Hope this info IS helpful. LOVE watching you and your lovely family.

Love your videos. They remind me of my childhood in Mexico😊
I’m from a small town in Jalisco but currently living in Chicago.
I love how your children play outside instead of how children are being raised in the USA in front of Tv or computers.
I loved hearing the country music in the background when you were driving back from the eye doctor. Oh love, love, love.
Lupita I love watching you and your family, the rancho and really love watching the food you guys cook. It gives me so much inspiration
I drink coffee with honey too. It's sooo good! Here in Texas, we reuse food containers for leftovers aswell. Thank you for that recipe and taking us along for a walk with you. It was relaxing and beautiful! ❣🤠
Your Absolutely Right.....In Texas we use All sorts of Containers to store left overs....when it comes time to use them, you NEVER know what your getting😬,!!
@beafranco7603 lol so true, it's like playing the Guessing Game.
You know you have that hispanic influence when you start using yoghurt containers as tupperwares 🙋♀❤ Love it! I have a ton of yoghurt containers with different stuff in them in the fridge😂
Lol true! I keep them and whenever someone comes and visits that's what I share food in. (My Tupperware containers are for me only) jiji
Tan bonito mi México 😍🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Erin and family, my sister and I always look forward to seeing new videos of you and your family! Our father was from La Huerta, Jalisco MX. because of that we often visit relatives who still live in Jalisco. I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you for sharing your experiences and family life in my father’s home state of Jalisco. By the way, I have made several of your salsa recipes and have really enjoyed them. Sending love from Northern California! ❤Irma
Hola ! Thank you for watching. I am so happy you try the recipes ! I am going to start doing a couple new ones next week. have a beautiful blessed day.
The honey differences in the way your honey looks is the manner in how the honey is processed. Also, don’t stick a metal spoon into the honey jar. It will run the honey texture. Always use a wooden spoon for honey.
Honey does not spoil it will get thick when it ages ,all u do is put it in container in some really warm water and let it sit in its container until it thins up. Put a tight lid on top of jar and put into a.cool dark place . If u really want some energy sometimes get some bee pollen and eat a couple of the pollen balls for the day. Now if you have allergies do not use . Get a book and read on honey it is the best. I use to help a lady that lived by me on our farm and she lived on her farm she taught me so much. Bees honey is such a perfect food plus bee pollen if u can take the pollen remember only a few pollen beads a day,and you need to eat honey only from ur area . I hope this helps you somewhat. 😊
Me and my husband are watching from Salt Lake City-Utah. My husband is from Veracruz Mexico but we haven’t been there since November 2000.🙏🏼💖💕

It was super sweet when the dogs came over to greet you when you got back🥹 even your mother in laws puppies . Maybe you could take the dogs on your walks?
Erin, you are learning to live the Latin American way, we don’t through away containers,we use them as Tupperware 😂 my children make fun of me because even if I live in the U.S. I always recycle some of them and use them to store used oil for frying plátanos, or they are good to store salsas. I am jealous, you and your family are very blessed to live there. God bless you all 🙏🏼
here in Canada, I recycle my bottles and yogurt containers. Watching Erin's videos brings back memories from growing up in Barbados in the late 60s.
The Mexican culture, specifically that area of the State of Jalisco Mexico.
There times when moms just need some alone time. A good spiritual quiet time with God. A prayer walk!!! ✝️🙏🏻🚶🏻♀️

At the beginning of the video I told myself I was going to ask you for your mascara! It's always so lovely. Then you went into your routine and that was crazy! Thank you.
Hola buenas noches pronta recuperación para la señorita Abby excelente salsa con tomatillo y chilito de árbol 😋 esa tranquilidad de estos lugares es espectacular saludos 👋🙏👍
Here in Mexico the difference between the yellow thick honey and the brown liquid one is basically that the yellow one has not been processed and is more pure and nutritios the brown liquid honey has been subjected to heat thus loosing is nutritios contents. Keep on using the thick honey it's best for your health! Kind regards!
It’s me again 😂 I want one of those market bags SO bad! I wish we could purchase them, and have them shipped.
Love your show from Houston, Tx I love when your sister is on your show, Emily she is so funny ❤️ 1:42
Looks like whipped honey! Yumm it's so good 😊
We Hispanics love to use empty plastic containers to store foods instead of tossing them out. I have my sewing things in a tin that probably held candy or cookies at one point. I was a lot younger when I got that. It has served me well.
Reusing containers as Tupperware is also a big Midwestern thing to do. Charlie Berens would be so proud of you, Lupita...I mean Erin. By the way, tell yer folks I says "Hi!" If you know, you know.
I love it!! I do the same thing!!
Plastic has chemicals that you don’t want in your system specially when it gets heated
Loved the walk today, I was with you.
The thicker honey looks delicious! Also I use my leftover yogurt containers too for leftovers. 😊 They come in handy to give away food to my adult kids cause I never get my good containers back. Going to try the green tomatillo salsa. Have a wonderful day!!
So depending on the bees flower source which gives the nectar it can have a high glucose level. Which let's honey crystal more. Then some nector has a high fructose level which prevents the crystallization to happen. Which makes it more liquidy. The honey you like just has high glucose levels because the nectar from the flowers they source from. ❤ so great watching today me and my little ones sick today nice have something relax to watch! 😊 thank you
Watching from California 😊
Hola Erin, I believe is thicker because is PURE Honey with out any sugar added or preservatives… .
I use the same kind you use and like, pe cause it’s not processed, it’s natural. That’s my input.
It’s fun to watch your videos and the real meaning in them…. Saludos from a Mex. mom !!!!
Hay amiga que bueno y que gusto que nomás era el oculista te deje mi apoyo de compartir comentarios comerciales y like ♥️🌹💕👍🤗🙏☕️☕️🪴😀 desde Colorado Springs
I think thicker honey has more glucose. It depends on the flowers they eat Temperature can also make it thick.
I bet that coffee is amazing!

From AI search: Thick honey is likely due to crystallization. Over time, natural sugars in honey (primarily glucose) form crystals, making the honey thicker and grainier in texture. Some key reasons for this include:
Glucose Content: Honey with a higher glucose-to-fructose ratio (e.g., from sources like clover or rapeseed) crystallizes faster and becomes thick.
Storage Temperature: Storing honey in cooler environments (below 50°F/10°C) speeds up crystallization, making it solidify and thicken.
Pollen and Natural Particles: Raw, unfiltered honey contains tiny particles like pollen and wax, which act as seeds for crystallization, resulting in a thicker consistency.
Age of the Honey: Older honey naturally thickens over time as crystallization progresses.
Thicker honey, especially if it's thick due to crystallization or being raw and unprocessed, can actually be better for you compared to thinner, processed honey. Here's why:
More Nutrients: Raw, thicker honey retains natural enzymes, antioxidants, and pollen, which can provide added health benefits such as boosting immunity and aiding digestion.
Lower Moisture Content: Thicker honey has less water content, making it more concentrated in beneficial compounds like vitamins, minerals, and amino acids.
Less Processed: If the honey is thick because it’s raw and unfiltered, it hasn't been exposed to high heat, which preserves its natural health properties better than processed honey.
Natural Crystallization: Crystallized honey is just as nutritious as liquid honey, and some people prefer it because it spreads easier and has a pleasant texture.
If honey is thinner due to being freshly harvested or naturally liquid (like acacia honey), it’s still nutritious but may contain a higher moisture content and potentially fewer pollen particles. However, overly processed or commercial thin honey may have fewer health benefits due to heat and filtration.
Bottom Line: Thick, raw honey is often considered more beneficial, but both types can be healthy if they are pure and free from additives. 😊 LOve you're channel! ❤
Hi. from what I have seen I think you are a good woman, as well as beautiful, you value family and traditional moral values, you are the kind of wife I would like to have, with all due respect I tell you that your husband is a lucky guy. A foreigner like you is always welcome in Mexico, I wish you the best, beautiful woman, and your family too.
Love your L V bag!!
Watching from -25 Chicago. Your vids are medicinal & peaceful. Keep it up! 💯 Abby, no more sharing any makeup, applicators, and brushes. Also, wash & disinfect all your makeup applicators or get new ones. Eye infections are dangerous.
Yes! My grandmothers never used Tupperware…everything saved in sour cream or yogurt containers, empty ice cream pails and mason jars…a great way to save money and repurpose containers!!
Hello from Fowlerville, Michigan. I love to watch your videos.
Love your vlogs. From Winnipeg, Canada. ❤
Resourceful, appreciative, Good Steward. Alternate priorities.
Not cheap.
"Cheap" doesn't have arches at every windows and door.
Honey is amazing and the nutritional benefits are amazing, warm honey as you know it is so yummy. Honey has enzymes that are powerhouse for our immune system. The enzymes are killed when we use stainless steel spoon. If you use a bamboo or teak wood 🪵honey server the enzymes remain alive and can be immediately beneficial to your health ❤
