How would simpleNG contribute to this in particular though? Indestructible sponge cars kinda defeat the whole point of beamNG. To me SimpleNG is good for low requirement traffic for video making purposes and for people who don't want a ruined car every time they crash (skill issue lol)

Yes, truly a pity that time moves forward and not backwards. :P For context, I fell out of playing BeamNG and gaming in general for about 7 years, but I still had it installed on my old PC (circa 2016 i7 6700, 16 GB RAM, SSD, Nvidia GTX 970). When I launched it again recently just to try, it updated from version 0.17! :D BeamNG still runs well, in most of the ways that I remember playing the game 7 years ago. 1 car, simpler test crash maps, no problem. More complex maps like Italy and West Coast run at average 45-60 FPS, with some dips to 20-30 if I have traffic enabled and am doing lots of stuff (cargo hauling, fast reckless driving). All this at a mix of low to high settings, so neither lowest nor ultra. The core game mechanics (soft body physics) still work fine. If you have 2024-level expectations of a game, then yes you will need 2024-level PC hardware. If you have 2017-level expectations, then 2017-level hardware will still run BeamNG fine. But it's not realistic to expect 2024-level performance in BeamNG from 2017-level hardware. Why would a more modern and more developed game require LOWER hardware requirements?

BeamNG isn't actually too GPU heavy if your graphics settings aren't too high, most of it is CPU based. Even with a low-spec GPU, run on low settings and you're good to go.
This is great. I’ve been using the traffic cars from whatever yakuza map but those cars are a little too simple. I’m kinda doubting I could use this many traffic cars and get the same fps though
The point of this mod is to increase fps and the amount of traffic at the same time by having ultra simplified traffic cars with no interiors and simplified crash physics. He's probably running it at 4k maxed out settings. At 1080p performance should be good on weaker specs too

Issue is still how the traffic drives. If I put 20 cars in, I just sit in traffic. They crash all the time, sudden movements, ... On tighter roads they can't pass eachother, it's difficult to pass yourself as well. Traffic AI needs work before this becomes fun.
yeah they need to have ai drive around a crash more, also have more cars come opposite way if theres more than 1 lane. like they spawn all in ur area and one car coming down a 4 lane highway its weird
Actually there is made by the same creator to, it's the Isezaki Ijincho, Yokohama, Japan Yakuza map mod that includes the Yakuza Traffic, it's somewhat lore friendly too.
@@dacialogan6605 the "lore-friendly" cars have better deformation models. They don't turn into jagged messes when you crash into them, unlike the asset flip real cars
The density looks great. Fps is awesome. All and all a great accomplishment..... However.... and I may be nitpicking. But either that R33 is really small, or the city cars are too huge.
Is it possible to improve traffic in beamng? In order for traffic to travel at different speeds, someone drove dangerously and fast, someone on the contrary slowly, observing the rules. Also, so that cars can overtake other cars by driving into another lane. Have you ever thought about it?
I think either someone or the beamng dev team needs to make the npcs drive on the other side of the highway and stuff, like a 2 way road has cars coming both ways right? Well the more lanes the less cars come the opposite way and its kinda unrealistic they need to work on that and it will be perfect.
Yes. This particular mod focuses both on jbeam (its the same as official simplified traffic) and model/texture side of things. It uses as least materials and textures possible to reduce amount of resources needed to render vehicles which improves both CPU and GPU performance, especially if you area limited with memory or single threaded performance.
