The biggest issue I have with the aquaflex is that it's a super curvy wetsuit with a high waist hip ratio... But their zipper stops at the small part of your waist. Meaning that if you have really large hips you still have to somehow get your hips through the smallest part of your waist to get it on. aqualung really does need to extend that zipper by about 3 in and it would improve getting these on so much and put less strain on the suit.

I started out with custom made wetsuit/drysuits. They really are the best for fit. Most of the suit sizing for stock suits is crazy! Nothing is what the sizing charts say! I used to do underwater modeling photography and trying to find wetsuits that fit the models was really hard, and I have 500+ suits in wardrobe! Many times I'd wind up putting the model in a men's suit to fit them. Many suits don't have proper darts sewn in to fit the breasts properly, and they use the "smash em down" method to cut the water pockets in the suit.

Yeah you make a good point, I don’t like the designs with a horizontal line at your waist, it cuts you off and just looks unflattering. Great video sarah thanks for sharing and starting the conversation

Agreed! Front zipper is the best!

I have fat neck too! I have to hold on to the neck seal whenever I'm above water, otherwise I'll stop breathing. Wish the brands can come up with neck line sizes.

I also completely agree with the neck. On the plus side it's not one of their sealed seams so it can be very gently trimmed without damaging the seal

Being a short woman, my challenge is always “they’re always too long!” 😂
I could say the same thing for dresses, pants, etc :)

I have been longing for a Bare Evoke full length wetsuit. They have a 5 mm that has a neck zipper to one side that is just enuf to allow for breathing when unzipped. There are also zips at all 4 cuffs. Its on my scuba wishlist for sure 😁 Thank you for the reviews & info Sarah!!

Oh wow, that sounds so good with a zip on the neck! I need to try that one!

I just came here to mention the evoke! The zips at the neck, wrists and ankles are great especially in the 7mm. I’ve never gotten into a 7mm as easily.

Thank you for this video - it is both informative and entertaining! I am short, with big hips, and wide shoulders. Trying to find a wetsuit that fits a short, chunky body is a challenge. I have had to cut off arms and legs of many wetsuits so they fit right. I found Tommy D Sports, located in Florida USA. They have a wide variety of sizes, plus tall & short lengths, and carry a LOT of front zip wetsuits since I also hate having my neck squeezed.

You should try the BARE 7mil! It has a small neck zip to open up the flap!

what i find dificult with women wetsuits?
    fun fact
i am a guy who was fited in a store to a women size medium-large open water swimming wetsuit because none of the guys ones fited me and this was just slightly too loose at places, which was tailored down.
it is a decathlon product and my first wetsuit so i really didn't know what i am getting myself into, but now that i think about it i should get myself a medium size instead, because over time in the water it got a bit bigger and water flow trough it a bit too fast to keep me warm.
it is 4/3mm open water nabaiji ows 900 i think the older pink model :P so firs con everyone who sees me initialy think i'm a girl then look at my face and ...i see many confused looks
2nd con would be the neck and shoulders. i belive they messed up with the design a bit and didn't notice because neckline is really low for an open water wetsuit and does not hold water really well, it is more like a scoop than a seal , and since i am ...really not that muscular of a person shoulders of the suit seems too wide for a comfortable arm rotation, too much fabric under arm
pit and it keep sliding off on the top while velcrow being just in a wrong place to be any help
3rd con would be i got the wrong size in the first place, because first suit i didn't know how and where it should fit and the shop clerk was simply too confused about all the gear he would sell to be any more help. i got women model only because in men sizing they were all either too short or too wide for me so for the full suit they either covered me from knees to elbows shoulders being ok-ish but too short in te torso, or torso was ok but i was in an empty sack of potatos.
biggest pro however was i got it on a -70% sale while men's model was only 40% off
so i guess the biggest con over all is to actually go to the store and get help to find a size and a kind of a wetsuit that is good for your body shape and size because there is more fariations in sizes and shapes of human beings than wetsuits themeselves
european brands would be more skiny and long, while generally american sizes whoud be shorter and curvier for the same size, not to mention japanese brands that can be up to 2 sizes smaller per size in length and one in width because they are generally skinier and smaller people
what a friend told me once opened my eyes a bit right after i already got my wetsuit
"go to the store with your own measuring tape, measure yourself from ankle to shoulder and try suits that are close to thet length regardless the size, measure your (non stretchy) jeans flat in your butt and keep close to that in wetsuit of your length, and shoulders are up to the clerk" my friend also told me to not bend forward in a backziped suit and that pulling the suit from the belly to the shoulders when you already have it on, makes for the most comfort. also getting "the one" take time and it is better to go to a place with bigger selection instead buying first that fit you in the store

I bought a Henderson 14 Tall im 5'10" & I've loss weight so I am now looking for a 10Tall or 12 Tall. Love that this suit was a front zip shortie! Would you ever try this one?

The Galaxy suit looks really good on you Sarah. I know someone who has a long sleeve short leg suit. Some reason she has to keep unrolling the legs. Thought maybe they were too short?

Hi! I hope this isn't a silly question. I am a newbie freediver working on my level 1. I just purchased a 2mm shorty and it's very snug and has sleeves like the Calypso in your video. I can not seem to get my second arm in! I believe it's just too small but is there a trick to getting these long sleeved shorties on? Should I lube? haha Thank you in advance!

I have larger chest (not super large.. but a FEMALE chest) and smaller stomach. So I either have to wear a websuit that stops my breathing but fits. Or one that has an empty pouch of air by my stomach but allows me to breath. I think companies assume only flat women or pre-pubescent females dive. Reminds me North Face company jackets. Medium-Large clothing barely fit on my chest (can't stretch though) but have enough room to fit a bowling ball where my stomach is.
Always wanted a 2 piece wetsuit. Thanks

I was wondering if you'd be able to get more models, as I'm only 5',0, live in Australia. We have a good dive shop near me, but I do struggle with leg length, Usually tuck up to stop water around booties.

I have a smaller chest and very small female hips, so to get a wetsuit that fits I buy at least 2 sizes small. My neck and legs are compressed but feel ok enough.
Sarah I have a odd question for you.. i am thinking of getting a fairly large breast augmentation. Any idea how to fit a dive suit ?? I assume the breasts will just be really tight from then on ????

Why bother with this. Try a wetsuit on in a store that fits reasonably or if you're actually serious and you are considering getting your 2nd or even your first, buy a tailored one. There are many good options online these days.
