Absolutely!! He gave Eddie freedom to use his music talent
David Lee Roth brought a different talent to van halen . He was a stage showman with no fear leaping off amps 25 feet high doing the splits . Sammy could sing but was not nearly the show stagemen of Roth.

just watched this video and was about to comment the same thing. this group of kids are great, but gives you another appreciation of "van hagar". whatever you think about that era of van halen, he could sing like few can.

@victorvarela1480 Ditto. 5150 was released at a very difficult point in my life and the songs from the album including Dreams and Love Walks In helped my get through the "Valley of the shadow of Death"

That was awesome. Great job. As a guitar player I always explain it this way, you may be able to play a million notes a minute and run scales but it lacks the feeling and song structure EVH has and that is what sets him apart from all other players. He is not about showing off but about playing music.

Not to ding these guys by any means, they did amazing, but Van Halen did with 4 what these kids did with 7! That's why they were the mighty Van Halen! It was really great to see all the different parts performed live by these kids though!

I know it's heresy, but Sammy was a far better singer than Dave...and Eve is a better singer than either of them.
@@MidWestConcertVideo2 its not heresy against Dave or Sam. Dave could never sing and Sammy's too old to sing like this this anymore, but he can still sound amazing. I'll give it to these folks. This is a hard song to sing, so props to them. 👏
Amazing cover! Only issue I have is that the lead guitar was a bit too quiet but other than that the cover was great!
Yeah, they needed someone to help mix. The lead singer was way too hot and over powered the rest of the band. Would have liked to be able to hear the lead and rhythm guitars. That kid can really shred.
Awesome cover. The girl can belt it, drummer and lead guitar bring it, and I love how much fun they look like they're having.
The whole band is fun to listen. But the singer and that lead guitar player are a class of its own!

I've just watched about a dozen of these "School of Rock AllStars" videos. Depressing that the media shoves a load of dancing mimers down our throats when there are kids that are learning to play and are getting good at it.
Most of these kids who have been in the AllStars are pursuing careers in music. It's not their fault that the record industry prefers to have manufactured "stars" doing songs written by a dozen people.

Hey you guys I just came across your video. I'm a huge Van Halen fan Dreams is one of my absolute favorite songs by them. I was having a great time watching you guys you did a great job! Eve honey your vocals are good if I may suggest going up a half step to a full step to match Sammy's voice. The kid on the green guitar I thought I was watching EVH. 🤩 and the rest of you kids were awesome great enthusiasm and passion loved it!!! Keep On Rockin'!!! 😇

Singer sound like she STRAINING to hit high notes. Suggest she start out 1/2 octave lower, that way extend her vocal "Ceiling." Key is NOT to strain voice. As she gets older, vocal range/sound will sound more toward Gewn Stefani/Ann Wilson/Grace Slick & Less like Fergie/Pat Benatar/Doro Pesch.
Guitar dude in black shirt need to dial it down LOTS more. It's ALL about sounding as one, like AC/DC, VH, Scorpions/Maiden...And less like Yngwie/MSG. The More you sweat in practice, the Less you bleed in concert!

I have never heard a vocalist do justice to Sammy's vocals on Dreams.......until I watched this video. This just shows the range that Sammy had in his prime. This gal not only sang in the right register but slso had the right timbre imo. Bravo youngins and keep rockin'
