- Todd Tuckey shows you this reconditioned Mars--one of 5240 made back in March 1981. This features two layer backglasses with infinity lights in-between. To access the circuit boards inside the head, originally the first door was opened with the front glass mounted, but inside door was simply propped inside and had to be lifted out. This glass was broken many times accidentally when servicing the machine and finally, all the spare glasses were gone! But this new reproduction PLEXIGLASS looks identical and is now mounted inside the swinging door, so it does NOT have to be removed when you need access to the electronics! And Walt finds a way to distract Todd from making the video.

If I remember correctly,this was the first Gottlieb game with speech.
Could be the first 3 ball multiball machine. Some very clever light shows, and design from gottlieb.
Williams' Firepower was the first solid state pinball machine with multiball. Gottlieb's Mars God of War came out much later.
Why isnt this a real show on discovery?! Its perfect!

If I'm not mistaken this is the first talking pinball for Gottlieb.
Restored one of these. It's a really good game. Difficult as hell to get both locks but a lot of fun.
***** Tought to lock balls is Devils Dare---this is superior in many ways to that game.
Can you tell me where you got the clips to hold in the back glass I want to do that with mine.

The background sound on This Game sounds like a diesel engine
the background sound does not fade out after game over on mine? It just keeps going "wu wu wu" for ever and never stops!!!
could be the driver board or the sound board...not sure

Think that might be one game that black light/glow in the dark effect. may actually improve it. Dunno how expensive black light LEDs are though.

In fact, this looks like a cross between Xenon and Black Hole.
Ascyltos Yes...the infinity lights are in both those games...a small string is also used in Volcano.
Hey Todd & co! What is the oldest pinball machine you ever had in your shop?
The Interpreter I had a couple 1930's "pintables" a couple years ago...just sold them as-is...that would be the oldest stuff!
I dont see a video on this..but I see an ad for a Big Top pinball machine for sale in my area its by Wico, Its a home machine made by Sears. The problem is , is that the glass over the playfield is broken in many places. Do they make glass for it? How much will it cost? I would love to buy a machine off of you but I dont have the money yet, I trust your knowledge and would appreciate any help plz
I suggest you have a piece of plexiglass cut for it...if you get a custom made glass, you should pay extra to have it tempered, to resist breakage. Just go to your local Plexiglass store.

I have the original back glass for this. It is glass. Sadly I don't have the front glass that says mars god of war. I have it in a picture frame hanging on my wall.
yes...both pieces were glass originaolly...there are still complete sets out there, but many repros are now out there on Plexi

I bet they didn't use things you do in restoration to cut cost of pinball game from the factory.
Lyle Johnson Yes...the games had a budget for sure as they had to make a profit for the company. Extra stuff were cut on games to keep the production costs down, but now collectors are adding them back in or coming up with more stuff!!
