You make the best Tutorials for Vegas! It's easier for me as a German to understand your tutorials than the German one's. please make more :) you're great
Thanks for your feedback @Batzr! I didn't film this, it was an example I found royalty free on the internet. I tried to use an example of the 'average' frame-rate, 30fps. Doing this, users would have a similar video to mine, and understand how they can effectively manage that. However, shooting at a higher shutter speed would increase the frame-rate, allowing the video to have less motion blur is ideal for slow-motion and freeze.
Thanks for putting this up, understood, got it and it worked perfectly. Taking your time to put this up and share is very appreciated...For tech challenged, the step by step was so nice.
@tomdkkr It was done in the Event Pan/Crop window within Sony Vegas. All I did was simply keyframe the text over time, going from the left side, to the right side. I also changed the keyframe type to "Smooth" and applied a sound effect. Glad you liked it!
Hi @GustavsRe, interesting question. I do use Sony Vegas to edit the most part of my videos, so it is my 'main editing station'. I think Sony Vegas is a effective program to use especially with time-line edits, including both audio and video. I do also use Adobe After Effects as a secondary editing program, which is also a great program. I've had a look at Adobe Premiere Pro, but from what I've seen, I can do everything in there, between Vegas and After Effects much faster and more effectively.
Hi @MCiLuZiioNz - you could also use the Velocity Envelope to perform a slow motion effect. Doing it with the envelope, you have a lot more control over the speed at which the slow motion is. You can make it go fast motion, and then slow motion, (change speed easily). However, if you were to simply press CTRL + CLICK at the end of an event in the timeline, and drag inwards making it smaller, you don't have as much control.
Hey @skvrck. You may be using an unstable build of Sony Vegas. I'd suggest downloading and installing the latest build from Sony. I personally don't have those problems.
@MrTobiDanza Audio is different. If you freeze it, all you're doing is stopping it? If you wanted to stop it for a certain amount of time, and then continue it back from where it was, you could split it, and then move the parts away from each other. If you wanted to remove a part of the audio, you could simply split it twice, and delete the middle section. From there, you could also adjust the distance/time of the clip/freeze.
Thanks a lot for this. Came at just the right time for me as I'm doing a tutorial video and this is a much more effective way to freeze time than doing a screen grab (as i've put the video in a boarder and moving it around a lot) and enables me to speed up certain parts as well, which is great. Thanks you so much mate.
GREAT tutorials! Very well laid out and described! I'm looking to improve my keyframing skills for text/watermark positioning and moving. Looking through what you have available since it is so much better than other tutorials.
Hi @SLOW13J, If you were to add another point, and slow the video down after time, (depending on the video frame-rate), it may noticeably lag due to the lack of frames and data to maintain the frame-rate of the project. I wouldn't recommend this for the average 24-30fps video. However, if you're recording at 60fps+, this could possibly be an option; if the points are not too far from each other, and the slow down happens fast.
Here's an alternate freeze-frame method: Zoom in and cut out a single frame with "S", the frame you want to freeze on. Right click the single frame you just cut out, and click "Create Subclip". Now extend the length of the single frame to any desired length.
TheSmooveMoove Just stretch the clip set to zero for the desired length then split it at the point you want the action to begin then remove the velocity envelope (from the second clip) and it will resume.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge in Vegas Pro. You should be a teacher! I learned a new thing today. Before i used the CTRL + mark the edge of the clip to extend or the opposite to make the clip slower or faster.
@WindowsKingza Doing that, you will lose quality in the video. It's also less customizable, and harder to change the frozen frame if needed. However, a common alternative.
Briliant tutorial, not too long like loads of the others - I don't get why people would click the thumbs down button??? Unless they are trolls, competitor or just don't know which one is which thumb. I've subscribed.
Thanks for your feedback @bodytemple. I'm sorry to hear you disliked the video. I used the example footage that Video Copilot also used, because I felt it was a great example to use. The video showed a clear example of when the velocity envelope could be used to stop a video. I would have shot a video myself, if I had a decent camera; which I should be getting next year (Canon t4i when released.) I don't believe I'm "lazy". I searched a while for a great example to use in this tutorial.
Lifesaver! Thanks for the great tutorial and upload. This method works better for me than the save snapshot of the frame to a file. I usually would get the saved still image color/contrast to change unexpectedly. Vegas is buggy sometimes.
@MrxTgK Doing that, you will lose quality in the video. It's also less customizable, and harder to change the frozen frame if needed. However, a common alternative. Thanks for the feedback! :)
Aquul, Hi I am interested to that flash then name 0:19 It would be helpful if you have a tutorial.I need for my project though thanks please reply -Sorry for bad english
i watched your videos nice tutorials i learned alot from them but i got a question when i put a effect via video fx i put the effect on the video i dont know how to make it stop in a certain moment it just stays there whole video
@AquuL Also I would like to know if slowing the velocity to make a slow motion effect will make those weird "transformer" like sounds when you do it with the CTRL + CLICK way because it can be annoying.
@priyonjoni Yeah, I did. :( I noticed that when I was browsing through the frames and recording the tutorial. However, I thought in the end it provided a great example for people who either had low frame-rates and fast motion, or did the same as me! Thanks for your comment. :)
I just discovered your channel, and it's amazing! I do have one question though, how did you create those banners starting at 4:07 where it says "please like and comment"? I want to know how you made those, and also how you made it animate with that glowing flare, how did you make it transparent and also the transitioning animation. Do you have a video on this already? I would love to know!
Hi, great video by the way but when I pause the video for the effect the audio continues so it all gets messed up. I wanted to pause the video at a certain point inc the audio then add a short track in to complement the pause section instead of the original audio. Then the video inc the audio continue after the pause. Any help very much appreciated.
...or by masking out areas of the frame. this could end up looking better than the greenscreen version. but it may also look way worse... depending on the situation :) you have to plan these things before you shoot the footage for the best result
You split the Audio and Video track by pressing the "U" key on your keyboard. That way you can move the Audio and Video tracks separately and freely. Hope that helps! :)
How can we g around the blurry problem for Full HD videos, I've noticed that only in preview (auto) it works - no blur, but the image isn't 1080p; it's something like 900x500.. thanks
Ty very much, When i used the "Save Snapshot to file" method, my image would always come out darker for some reason but this velocity method solved it.
@Aquul, i didnt know it lost quality, thanks for that but i'll probably stick to that as i only freeze time if i am doing a scope transition and it isnt frozen long enough to notice :)
You need Pro for Velocity. However, another way to do the freeze trick is to select the frame you want, isolate it by splitting before and after, then stretch that frame for however long you want the freeze to last. No Velocity necessary.
Im new in vegas, ive tried this way but it seems working only if the video has no audio source. In case video will freeze but sound will keep going on. Any way to fix this? I've tried the snap way, which freezes both video and audio but there's a size problem which makes the screenshot a bit smaller than video source ( ex video 1920x1080, screen 1750x1080 )
You make the best Tutorials for Vegas! It's easier for me as a German to understand your tutorials than the German one's. please make more :) you're great
I didn't think this was possible, someone actually made a tutorial that I understood and could learn from holy crap they are real thank you.
The audio at the end is a snippet from a score by Video Copilot's "Pro Score" package called Cave War.
Aquul, I always loved your tutorials on Sony Vegas and they've really helped out a lot. Keep up the good work!

Your videos are simply briliant. You explain issues clearly. You have a pleasant and nice voice and beautiful English! Thank you so much!

@hatazhi Glad you enjoyed the video! Not sure if the voice part is a compliment or not, lol.
Hi @mixxfish, the Velocity envelope is only available in professional versions of Sony Vegas. Movie Studio versions don't have this feature.
Hey @skvrck. You may be using an unstable build of Sony Vegas. I'd suggest downloading and installing the latest build from Sony. I personally don't have those problems.

Thanks alot, finaly got the right tutorial, have been finding useless stop motion videos! You are the best!
@arunavsharma The intro was originally created in Adobe After Effects CS5.5, but was slightly edited and tweaked in Sony Vegas in the tutorial render.
@DAxBUSHx Thanks for your feedback! Glad you liked it. :)
@ReaperEyEz Thanks for the feedback! I had no intent for that, but hopefully it's a good thing!
GREAT tutorials! Very well laid out and described! I'm looking to improve my keyframing skills for text/watermark positioning and moving. Looking through what you have available since it is so much better than other tutorials.
Thanks for the feedback @PensubyCP! This should definitely work in Sony Vegas Pro 10. :)

Thanks @TheJacobisproChannel! I spent a while doing that in Sony Vegas. Thanks for your tutorial suggestion, I've added it to my list! :)
Cheers man, and thanks for having a good and clear mic!
Here's an alternate freeze-frame method: Zoom in and cut out a single frame with "S", the frame you want to freeze on. Right click the single frame you just cut out, and click "Create Subclip". Now extend the length of the single frame to any desired length.
Sporkinator Dude can u explain this to me in a bit more detail?
TheSmooveMoove Create a subclip with only one frame.
can you tell me step by step how to freeze it for whatever desired amount of time i want then the video to continue after?
Wow thanks!
TheSmooveMoove Just stretch the clip set to zero for the desired length then split it at the point you want the action to begin then remove the velocity envelope (from the second clip) and it will resume.
Thank you so much!!
aquul bro...xD
hi
I was so lost until I saw this. Concise explanation, my friend.
Hi @qhyeRAINbow, The New Blue FX were added when I installed the New Blue Titler Pro for Sony Vegas Pro 11.
what about the audio
Thank you so much! :D
Thank you for sharing your knowledge in Vegas Pro. You should be a teacher! I learned a new thing today.
Before i used the CTRL + mark the edge of the clip to extend or the opposite to make the clip slower or faster.
damn aquul is the only person that makes asking people to sub and like seem cool xD
@WindowsKingza Doing that, you will lose quality in the video. It's also less customizable, and harder to change the frozen frame if needed. However, a common alternative.
The video isn't necessarily blurry because of the motion, buy because you have resampling enabled... Which adds a weird ghosting effect
every time i click on the velocity envelope it gets checked but the green bar/line doesn't appear on the timeline...any tips?
Omg I was looking for this tutorial for so long! You made my day mate

did u make the intro in after effects ???
@MrxTgK Doing that, you will lose quality in the video. It's also less customizable, and harder to change the frozen frame if needed. However, a common alternative. Thanks for the feedback! :)
Aquul, Hi I am interested to that flash then name 0:19 It would be helpful if you have a tutorial.I need for my project though thanks please reply
-Sorry for bad english
i watched your videos nice tutorials i learned alot from them but i got a question when i put a effect via video fx i put the effect on the video i dont know how to make it stop in a certain moment it just stays there whole video
Hello.Nice! Can you make a tutorial for the end of this tutorial?that part with facebokk. How we can do this effect?
@AquuL Also I would like to know if slowing the velocity to make a slow motion effect will make those weird "transformer" like sounds when you do it with the CTRL + CLICK way because it can be annoying.
Ummm, when I add velocitiy nothing happens. That green line does not appear. What do I do ?
@trerb4 The New Blue FX were added when I installed the New Blue Titler Pro for Sony Vegas Pro 11.
u got a subscriber , u make some nice and neat , easy to follow tutorials
Thanks a lot @MCiLuZiioNz! Kind feedback is always appreciated! :)
Thanks for your suggestion @oukskirts! I've added it to my list. :)
@priyonjoni Yeah, I did. :( I noticed that when I was browsing through the frames and recording the tutorial. However, I thought in the end it provided a great example for people who either had low frame-rates and fast motion, or did the same as me! Thanks for your comment. :)
Finally this is exactly what I've been looking for thanks so much !
Thanks man, quick simple tut for what i was looking for
What camera did you use in this video, and what high quality video camera would you reccomend me getting if Im looking in between $200-$300.
Hey man, awesome work, where do you get your cinematic sounds from?
Hey Aquul could you slow down the velocity for a slow-mo effect or would using the actual slow-mo be better?
Hey dude nice vids! but how to freeze the people walking around us and we that can move near them? or freeze a place but we can move into that place?
Aquul: Can you tell us what are the difference between Vegas Pro 10 and Pro 11???
I'm wondering if I have to step over to Pro 11
I just discovered your channel, and it's amazing! I do have one question though, how did you create those banners starting at 4:07 where it says "please like and comment"? I want to know how you made those, and also how you made it animate with that glowing flare, how did you make it transparent and also the transitioning animation. Do you have a video on this already? I would love to know!
Hey, how did you do the "with your host.." thing? looked cool
Thanks
I'm wondering is this envelope only in Vegas pro?I don't see it in studio plat.
Wow, I was wondering about this for awhile, good tutorial :)
I will definitely make use of this.
You guy saved my life... Velocity is so Cool :D
You here ?
LOL
Hi, great video by the way but when I pause the video for the effect the audio continues so it all gets messed up. I wanted to pause the video at a certain point inc the audio then add a short track in to complement the pause section instead of the original audio. Then the video inc the audio continue after the pause. Any help very much appreciated.
Is there a way to freeze the man but continue the action around him? Like a car going by?
Only if you recorded the man falling in front of a green screen
...or by masking out areas of the frame. this could end up looking better than the greenscreen version. but it may also look way worse... depending on the situation :) you have to plan these things before you shoot the footage for the best result
How can I get the into?
Thank you for your help dude. I know this is an old video, but this works for Sony Vegas Pro 13 too and it helped me. Thank you...
Is it no different than taking a screenshot of the last frame and inserting it to freeze?
Very good AquuL ! How do I get the intro, or can you explain how to make the cat claws in another tutorial ? Keep up the nice work !
I have previously done this by using the feature that takes a snapshot and putting in the photo in place of the clip.
Interesting. How do you do that?
Kangruv thank you!
How do you freeze the audio as well and let it continue when the video continues?
You split the Audio and Video track by pressing the "U" key on your keyboard. That way you can move the Audio and Video tracks separately and freely. Hope that helps! :)
thank you so much!
Cool tutorial. Thanks for the tips!
Hey aquul just a tip for filming stuff like this, shoot it at a high shutter speed
aquul ur the best i was wondering if u could make a tutorial of the intro in this video it'll be really helpful
I have a video i want to freeze but there is audio embedded in it how can i add a sound effect during the velocity and resume it when the video ends?
How can we g around the blurry problem for Full HD videos, I've noticed that only in preview (auto) it works - no blur, but the image isn't 1080p; it's something like 900x500.. thanks
The end of the video was amazing with the follow me and all that... you should do a video about that! And it was a nice video thanks!
Ty very much, When i used the "Save Snapshot to file" method, my image would always come out darker for some reason but this velocity method solved it.
Oh by the way, do you have new blue effects with Sony Vegas Pro 11 inclued?
thanks man! your videos are so helpful for the beginners..
jw do you use any other program for stuff like your intro or 4:07
hey AquuL
can ypu please upload a tutorial for you intro at the start of this tutorial?
Nice tutorial, very nicely presented!
How did you do that intro? @Aquul did you use after effects?
This was EXACTLY what I was looking for, thx bro.
@Aquul, i didnt know it lost quality, thanks for that but i'll probably stick to that as i only freeze time if i am doing a scope transition and it isnt frozen long enough to notice :)
Thanks man, very simple tutorial and it is easy to do now! 👍
Did you make this intro in Vegas and if you did can you make a tutorial on how you did it if you haven't done so already.
Love your videos man! These help a lot!
Could you tell me where you got the Audio Sound effects which you used for this video? :D Its so epic that I even want to have them too!:D
bro.. on my vegas 13 there's no velocity.. would you please help me..?
Do you have pro?
You need Pro for Velocity. However, another way to do the freeze trick is to select the frame you want, isolate it by splitting before and after, then stretch that frame for however long you want the freeze to last. No Velocity necessary.
Did u use vagas pro to make ur intro before the tutorials
could you make a tutorial on the intro at the beginning of your video the scratch?
thanks for you tutorial man! every well detailed and explained!
dude, do you have a tutorial showing how to create your intro?? it's awesome!!
Disable resampling. That is most likely where that blur is coming from. (If you haven't figured it out already)
really easy and comfortable video to watch ! TY for making this to the new vegas users ;P
AMAZING MAN! I know, it was easy, but you help me! Thank's a lot!
4:08 how did you do that? Please like etc.
