Hi Darren, thanks for the message and comments... yes we are getting there lol. I will take a look at your layout soon which I'm sure is no doubt very good. :-)
There are a few suggestions for building a railroad layout yourself Find a suitable set of plans online Find a colleague who wants to build one too so you have another person to help you (I discovered these and the reasons they work on Jareks hobby club site )
Peter, splendid effort on your OO Layout- you have done a great job on building the Metcalfe card kits - and your terrain is excellently done as well. A very well thought out track plan- most interesting for viewing passing trains in a delightful scenic setting. I am just starting out on my Hornby OO Layout - a long way to go yet- though, pleased to see your efforts as it is most inspiring. Cheers. KEV.
Hi Peter, I think this is one of my favourite layouts, I just love the look of it. I'm the same I only use point motors if I can't reach the point manually. Mike
Hi There, thanks for the comments and complement regarding the layout. Yes its not looking to bad, and not really much more to do on it to be honest. Adding some coloured signal lights working on a sensor and they work well. Probably just concentrate on getting a few more items in the rolling stock area.
Hello Peter. I just found your fantastic layout on You Tube. You've done a beautiful job there! You have accomplished what few have . That is, you have found the balance between "done" and "overdone". It's great to see such a well planned layout in a realistically sized room. I get a bit discouraged when the area of the latest super layout in the hobby magazines is in two time zones! Now I need to get down in the basement and start to see what I can do.
hi bill many thanks for the kind words, you may well see from another video posting that this particular layout has been dismantled and I have now started on a new N Gauge layout which is in its early stages. Many thanks again.
You should have painted the base of the river brown to give a more realistic look but very nice layout and tour, I hope all of the extras and finishing touches go well for you
Very nice scenery. I note you have digit (finger)controlled points the same as me, also my layout is 12 feet by 10 in the loft. I have lots to do and a winter ahead. I look forward to more updates and running sessions.
thanks for the message, ive not a lot left to do on it to be honest a few more detail bits I can do but have not really worked on it for a month or so. just added a 5 a side football team on the far side but as you say the winter months are coming so I'm sure I will find something else to do on it.
Very beautiful. Im relatively new to Tiny Villages and have added O Scale trains. My goal has always been to make the model realistic as possible. You do an excellent job of this and I aspire to do the backdrops like you have that make the display so much grander.
Thank you! Ive tried to paint basic snow capped mtns, they turn out decent enough but the pics really make the display have a lot of true depth effect.
Thanks for that. Yours looks pretty good as well. I've just about finished all I can do on it now after three years it might be time to dismantle and start another project.
yes had thought of that, or possibly a wedding.... thanks for the compliment. To be honest there's not a lot more I can do to it, but Im always finding a few improvements I can add.
Hi Peter just found your channel.....wow I'm impressed..... plenty of inspiration to be had ...particularly the arched bridge I might pinch a bit of the idea for my layout....ps where did you get the backgrounds....great job .......fred
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to view your great layout.. Could you please advise on where you obtained your back-scenes, they complimented your layout and gave a 3D appearance, I would like to incorporate them on my layout....Thanks Alan
hi there, thanks for the comments.... the road were just grey or black matt paint applied and rubbed down a few times. This layout has been dismantled and I have now started on a new n gauge layout.
Hi Pete, looks good what youve done here may i ask how you managed to get the lights to flash on the fire engine and ambulance etc. Im new to modal railway and would like to know how you can do this I look forward to hearing from you Owen
+Birmingham FETA Hi There, thanks for the message. Its the Oxford Die cast range that I have used. I used VERY tiny Nano bulbs which I obtained via Kytes Lights based on The Isle of Wight. I removed the base of the fire appliance/ambulance and replaced the original blue lights (non working) with the Nano's but you have to do a little bit of drilling into the original solid blue plastic and insert the working bulbs. Then I just wired them in series to a 12v supply and a small flashing you you can obtain, again from Kytes Lights. If you take a look on his website you will see some emergency vechiles that he has done and can be bought already fitted.
yes he did thanks.... your question on points, I'm sorry to say that my points are not wired up I change them manually. It doesn't bother me to be honest as there all close to reach.
hi peter
you should be proud

james

Very beautiful. Im relatively new to Tiny Villages and have added O Scale trains. My goal has always been to make the model realistic as possible. You do an excellent job of this and I aspire to do the backdrops like you have that make the display so much grander.
Can I ask, how did you do the back drops? Did you find pictures you liked and have them blown up? Or ordered from a website? Thank you.
Thank you for your comments, yes Im happy with what I have completed so far.
the back drops were bought from a local shop called Gaugemaster here is the link to that page

Nice layout with a good degree of detail. What size is the layout without fiddle yard?
Barry. Devon.
8' X 10' so nothing to large.
Nice layout Peter. You have a good eye for scenery. I thought your back scenes blended in nicely. Are they ID Backscenes? Regards Ted.
