Beautiful!!! The struggle is real, Sis! I haven’t straightened my hair in four years and feel so much better about my own hair now. It takes a lot to overcome what society tells us about beauty but uou are amazing! Keep inspiring us!
Yes, our hair is amazing and beautiful ❤ My hope and prayer is that we forgo trying to make those who do not have African hair feel “comfortable “ around us by making our hair more like theirs with wigs, chemicals ( that give us cancer and burns), hot comb pressing, etc., and wear our hair natural: twists, braids, Afros, knots, etc. After all, we except their hair…. We need to learn and love our beautiful, and amazingly unique hair! Our hair enhances our beauty! Ashay🙋🏽♀️🥰🌺💕🤷🏽♀️👏🏽
I've been chemical-free since 2006. I'm so thankful for that bad relaxer experience because it started my natural hair journey. It's called a journey because you discover yourself when you deprogram. Self-acceptance is a beautiful thing.
It can’t happen fast enough. I’m tired of seeing wigs and weave. The little girls are wearing weave now. Allowing that crap to eat their edges up. Just give yourself a little more time for your hair and your child’s hair and bring back natural hair again.
Beautiful!!! Thank you for representing. I’ve been loving rocking my natural hair for years now . God didn’t make any mistakes . Our natural hair is beautiful. ❤️😊
People need to be able to rock whatever kind of hair they have without ANY kind of repercussion. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I'd love to have curly hair sigh LOL....
I remember when growing up ads on TV starting to diversify, and it was wonderful to watch... I'd be transfixed by all the lovely skin colors and hair-texture variations of black women in the 60s -70s, and still remember the adverts from Dark and Lovely as well as the posters/songs proclaiming "BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL, BABY!" Watching you today took me back to those days and reminded me why that saying is true... 💯💖🥰
I grew up in those years, too, and I remember the revolution very fondly. My best friend in college wore her hair in a close natural and it looked so effortlessly elegant.
@@williamsstephens YAAASSSS!😁 Exciting times bubbling with all kinds of possibilities and potential (even despite the hardships and "growing pains") Absolutely breaks my heart every day to see where we're at now 🥺
Your curls are gorgeous! I'm embarrassed to say that it wasnt until I saw TH-cam videos, like this, I'd never realized the way some people treat black women about their hair. I've always loved the way black hair looks, and just assumed that black women had the same experience/privilege I did of wearing my hair however I want. I hope we as a society will stop dictating what they think is acceptable for black women. How you wear your hair is nobody's business but yours.😊🤗🥰
Unfortunately, much of it comes from other black women. I can't tell you how many times I heard black women call other black women "nappy-headed" to insult them when I was in the Army. A good friend wore her natural hair in an afro from the time I met her. One evening, I told her how pretty it was. She explained to me how much easier it was and how freeing it was to be able to get her hair wet in the rain or while swimming. It made me feel good for her that she was able to live more carefree and save hours of time to do other things she wanted to do. (I am totally hair lazy).
@@sashalynn5256 that reminds me of internalized misogyny. Just because that is what I have experience with. So I wonder what kind of put down bs this came from? Misery loves company I guess.. I was always put down by the mean girls, and the mean girl teachers.
@sashalynn5256 I disagree! As a natural BW, I've never had another BW walk up to me and put my hair down. I'm sure it can happen, but for most natural BW they say it's BM or WW who put their hair down. That's also been my experience, mainly BM putting my hair down. I usually hear BW motivating other BW.
I will never understand why people think it's their business to judge people's hair/looks. I personally have always loved black women hair; absolutely beautiful! ❤
Your hair looks beautiful and so do you. Don't let people shame you for choosing to be your authentic self. It always baffles me why people think we have to conform to what their idea of beauty is.
She's not letting ppl shame her... she's experiencing the shame of having natural hair already woven into the american culture of being Black and wearing your natural hair.
Congrats!! I remember the first time I wore my hair naturally curly to a black tie wedding and I was the dj! I was so nervous and guess what, absolutely no one gave a crap! This was back in like 2010 too. The pressure to conform was definitely real but sometimes we get in our own way. 2020 introduced me to faux locs and now I’m growing my own. This journey is the best, I’m loving it!!😊
Your hair is gorgeous as is but the texturism is real. So instead of hiding your natural hair under weaves, wigs and silk presses, its hidden under gels, cremes, lotions and pomades.
@@lekaylaharbor6089 Your natural, texture is how your hair looks when it's washed and drys without product. Using gels, pomades, lotions and other products to get a curl that wouldn't happen otherwise isn't your natural curl pattern.
You have such beautiful hair. I've got to admit when I was young I was jealous of people with curls like yours. Then one day I discovered that women actually get shamed for their natural curls. I'm so glad you decided to start loving your hair. You're beautiful and so are your curls.
Wow!!! Soooo pretty!!!😍😍😍 I want to learn how to work with my hair. I have locs and when I think about cutting them I think about how "unmanageable" my hair is. Maybe I've just been trained not to manage it? As a kid, my grandma put relaxers in it and it did damage. This is inspiring. It gives me hope.
I love the thickness of your hair. It took me some years to retrain my hair back to its natural curl pattern, but now I will never go back. I’m glad you are embracing your natural hair. So beautiful.
@@itssLaury hi Laury, I went natural after wearing a perm about 40 years. You have to give up putting heat on your hair. (Flat iron, press n curl, blow dryers). It is ok to sit under a hooded dryer. Deep condition your hair every time you wash. Protect your hair from rubbing against harsh fabric clothing. Keep your split ends clipped regularly, as needed. Hair will love you back!
I like how She said.. get to know your hair. As BW we should all embrace and befriend our natural hair it will be a beautiful discovery. I went natural 5 yrs ago and I love my curly wavy hair. At time I will rock a weave but not at all to cover up my natural hair just as a beauty enhancement. Keep that confidence going girl, you and your hair are BEAUTIFUL!!
Thank you!!! I was once sat down prevented from singing in the Church choir because I wore my natural hair !!! My Afro and was rebuked for being hard headed and disobedient!!! I felt I was being disrespectful to God because that’s the hair he gave me!!! Needless to say I never sang in the church choir again😢 and the sad part about that was; I loved singing in the choir and when I tried to get back they told me that they would see how I behave and let me know if they felt I was cooperating 😒!!! I am proud of you! You and your hair are beautiful!!! Proud of you! And yes sweetheart this was indeed a BLACK CHURCH!!! God has been good and I still wear my hair in it’s God given natural state! Because I Love it!!!❤❤❤❤❤!!! I forgave that Pastor , the lady who went above and beyond to get me noticed for my rebellion 😂😂😂 so you see I am blessed keep up the good work!
I don’t want to sound as if I’m judging the two people. However God created us natural for his purpose and I’m guessing that it depends on the people that you went to Church with. I’m black been going to a black Church for many years, I’ve went from Afro to Relaxers to Curly Hair and now I’m back to my Natural Hair and been for some years now. My Pastor, First Lady or anyone in the Church has ever spoken to me about or concerning my hair. God created us natural for his reasons ❤
Please tell me you’re going to another church now, where you are accepted for who you are and not what you look like. The people of this church you speak of need to be on their knees asking for forgiveness for turning you away from singing and praising our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you know that your hair doesn’t define you, only what’s inside of your heart. Sending you love ❤️
Beautiful ✨👌! And yes it is a HUGEEEEEE DEAL! I naturally have long natural hair but after 3 kids and a difficult husband, the 4 hours + process was impossible to fit into my busy schedule. I prayed for God to give me a statement style that would be easy to manage, very low maintenance while also enhancing my beauty… 2.5 yrs later, I have 12” of brother locs that have people stopping me in the streets… even the white folks 🤣🤣🤣! I’m trying your hairstyle with my locs for our Christmas party 🙏🏾✨💕
Absolutely love ths style on black women. Yalls hair is so same beautiful! I'm always so shocked people discriminate because of it because it's NATURAL AND BEAUTIFUL!
The comment she relays from her boss doesn't make it clear if it was criticism or curiosity. Wear a wig with straight hair, then suddenly come in with natural curls... It is noticeable. Commenting doesn't automatically mean criticism. News flash... Caucasian women who suddenly have a significant change in hairstyle get the SAME question. Anyone changing their appearance will get questions or comments.
Yep, turning up with say a pixie cut when you have only had really long hair or turning from brown to bleach blonde would get a response from many people of what happened to your hair, why did you do that! No matter what your ethnicity is.
@@dagneytaggart7707 Not true! When I see a change in a caucasian's hair change, I either compliment vocally or keep pushing. It's her choice not mine. Same for any woman. Sis I love your hair. Now you know your Boss shouldnt be supervising others outside of his race😮
I've recently talked about this myself and friends were shocked. When I'd wear my natural curls to my office job, I'd get "oh...you didn't have time to fix your hair today?" I am a 62 year old Caucasian woman . When I was younger , all my African American friends wore their hair either with a perm or natural . NOBODY wore wigs . I've been watching the abundance of wigs being worn over the last 25 years & it makes me sad that this has become the " norm " . When I was in junior h.s. both girls and boys rocked huge afros with PRIDE . As a retired hairstylist myself , I am fully aware of the damage that excessive wig wearing can do . Your hair looks BEAUTIFUL with your spirals draping dramatically around your face .

Thank God, I'm African. The sort of mental hair Gymnastics some Black American women display. You wore wigs then get offended when people ask u you get a different hair style. Aka Your natural hair. Your hair is curly pretty black girl hair.
I was about to write the same thing, don't let anything or no one damp ur confidence from rocking ur natural hair , be proud, my sister.
i love the technique of wrapping the front, parted pieces around to the back and hiding them inside the ponytail!! so happy for you, and thank you for the style inspiration!
I love seeing strong people caring, embracing, and showing their natural beauty.
Beautiful!!! The struggle is real, Sis! I haven’t straightened my hair in four years and feel so much better about my own hair now. It takes a lot to overcome what society tells us about beauty but uou are amazing! Keep inspiring us!
Yes, our hair is amazing and beautiful ❤
My hope and prayer is that we forgo trying to make those who do not have African hair feel “comfortable “ around us by making our hair more like theirs with wigs, chemicals ( that give us cancer and burns), hot comb pressing, etc., and wear our hair natural: twists, braids, Afros, knots, etc.
@RheuteliaThomas yass sis all of this!!!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
It can’t happen fast enough. I’m tired of seeing wigs and weave. The little girls are wearing weave now. Allowing that crap to eat their edges up. Just give yourself a little more time for your hair and your child’s hair and bring back natural hair again.
🎯🎯💯❤
@audreywoods4580 That's Right !!! 👍🏽😍
Beautiful!!! Thank you for representing. I’ve been loving rocking my natural hair for years now . God didn’t make any mistakes . Our natural hair is beautiful. ❤️😊
That style is so elegant and suits you so well! You were really shining from the inside out in that final shot.
I love it! The commentary 👌🏾 the hairstyle 👌🏾 and the self love & appreciation ❤✨
You are sooo beautiful ❤As a Black Woman I understand this so much & the obsession with our hair- I love that you got to know & love your hair ❤
People need to be able to rock whatever kind of hair they have without ANY kind of repercussion. Your hair is absolutely gorgeous! I'd love to have curly hair sigh LOL....
I remember when growing up ads on TV starting to diversify, and it was wonderful to watch...
I'd be transfixed by all the lovely skin colors and hair-texture variations of black women in the 60s -70s, and still remember the adverts from Dark and Lovely as well as the posters/songs proclaiming "BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL, BABY!"
Watching you today took me back to those days and reminded me why that saying is true... 💯💖🥰
I grew up in those years, too, and I remember the revolution very fondly. My best friend in college wore her hair in a close natural and it looked so effortlessly elegant.
@@williamsstephens YAAASSSS!😁
Exciting times bubbling with all kinds of possibilities and potential (even despite the hardships and "growing pains")
Absolutely breaks my heart every day to see where we're at now 🥺
Beautiful! Thank you for this teaching story. Keep it up! ❤🎉
Your gorgeous 😍 do ya thing, damnnnn what society paints 4 you, your a beautiful Queen & we black men support you 1000 % 💪🏾✊🏾
Your curls are gorgeous!
Because you are ignorant and don’t realize racism and discrimination minorities go through.
@@MsVakongSame. I’ve never heard other black women do this. White women have mostly been the antagonists in destruction of black womens esteem.
Your hairdo is gorgeous! Black tie perfect! I’m so glad that you are talented and able to create such beautiful looks with your naturally curly hair.
❤
You do that thang girl! I wish I had hair I could do the cute style you just did.
I will never understand why people think it's their business to judge people's hair/looks. I personally have always loved black women hair; absolutely beautiful! ❤
In what way was she judged😂
@@WiinterKitten exactly 💀
@@WiinterKittenya I was wondering that too …. 🤷♀️
Beautiful hair and beautiful clear skin. Just beautiful Queen.👑
@Dee.Ola_ You're very welcome luv 🫶🏿👑💐
Your hair is beautiful. Natural
This journey is the best, I’m loving it!!😊
Exactly ! I don’t think her boss was really saying anything bad about her hair, just asked what happened
Love it! Your natural hair without the additional styling is fab too.
Your hair is gorgeous as is but the texturism is real. So instead of hiding your natural hair under weaves, wigs and silk presses, its hidden under gels, cremes, lotions and pomades.
How is it hidden under gel, when it’s your hair texture defined by the gel?
@@Bklyn112what!!! If thats the case women of other races are hiding too. I swear some people must live under a rock. 😂😂😂😂
@@lekaylaharbor6089 Your natural, texture is how your hair looks when it's washed and drys without product. Using gels, pomades, lotions and other products to get a curl
that wouldn't happen otherwise isn't your natural curl pattern.
@@Tamfel_85 They probably are but we're talking about Black people here. Who are the people living under a rock?
This is my go-to style when I need to snatch my life! So beautiful and elegant 😍 WE ARE BEAUTY & ELEGANCE.
Proud of you for taking control of the beauty that is you. Allow no one to define your beauty. You and your crown are beautiful.
That hairstyle looks AMAZING, You go Ms. Lady 🎉🎊🎉🎊👍🏽👍🏽💯💯💯
I love this style. It is beautiful and you are gorgeous! Thanking for speaking on and sharing your truth specifically about your boss.
Your natural hair is stunning. It makes me sad that we still live in a world where people don't embrace the beauty of our differences.
I love the thickness of your hair. It took me some years to retrain my hair back to its natural curl pattern, but now I will never go back. I’m glad you are embracing your natural hair. So beautiful.
gorgeous
I love this, can you give some tips on how you did it? that is something I also want to start doing is embracing my 4c hair
"Crown that I carry." Holy that's gorgeous, you're so stunning and I'm happy you love your curls!
It's not that deep
@@Sg4809 So? I love it, thats what matter to me so I said it. Its not that deep either.
Absolutely gorgeous I’m jealous
Please tell me you’re going to another church now, where you are accepted for who you are and not what you look like. The people of this church you speak of need to be on their knees asking for forgiveness for turning you away from singing and praising our Lord Jesus Christ. I hope you know that your hair doesn’t define you, only what’s inside of your heart. Sending you love ❤️
The reason I don't go to a "church" those ppl seem to be the most judgemental, & mentally unbalanced TO ME. I'm glad yall "forgave " each other.
@@tammejohnson6885 yeah tat was mean asf
I'm so proud of you, I've always thought black hair was beautiful. I'm glad more people are learning how to do just this.
I really like Afro type hair and I’m always amazed at the weaves and styles ladies do. Your hair is nothing to be ashamed of!
Your natural hair is GORGEOUS!!! and so are you, baby sister!
This is so relatable for many of us. Thank you for sharing this story of acceptance and confidence! You look beautiful!
So Beautiful, I can't wait to get more Length on my Hair❤
i’m so confused why anyone would think anyone’s natural hair isn’t socially acceptable. yours is STUNNING and you take care of it so well 💚
I agree with you!
@@dagneytaggart7707 yes, i definitely agree with that too. it could’ve been a completely innocent question and that’s totally fine
@@dagneytaggart7707
Not true!
When I'd wear my natural curls to my office job, I'd get "oh...you didn't have time to fix your hair today?" All the damage I did to my hair with flatirons over the years just to be accepted is so sad. Now, rocking the curls even for formal events which was a huge deal. Keep loving your crown!
I loooove your curls! Never EVER dim your light, your sparkle, or any of the authentic you for ANYBODY!
Your curls are beautiful. I have not used any straightening tools in 6+ months. Just wash, dry, and letting my naturalness shine. Definitely can feel the difference when no heat touches my crown.
I absolutely love this. It is such a beautiful style and your curl is incredible.
Natural hair is classy and elegant. Don't let nobody tell you different!
I feel like she is overthinking the whole “what happened to your hair” like isn’t it like a thing you say when like something changes and they have seen her with her straight hair and now it curly, wouldn’t people be like what happened (curious/Care)😂
@@abigailmedina3214 no she's not overthinking, people need to watch what they say and how they say it. "What happened to your hair" to me gives a negative connotation... So we said what we said
@@rudiiboiispook the way SHE said it not the person who said it. The person who said it originally could have said it in a curious way and she just took it in the wrong way thus overthinking it

You have very beautiful hair. I’m in the process of going natural. I’m 8 months in after the big chop. Decades of hair color and relaxers. Enough!!! I’ve already had 6” of growth and I’m loving it. Retired now so I have all the time that I need to I reach my nirvana. 💇🏽♀️🌌
You hair grew 6 inches in 8 months?!?! What are you doing to make it grow?
Thank you for sharing. People try to make it seem like natural is wrong but I’m learning how to embrace me
I am a 62 year old Caucasian woman .
It's weird to me too, girl, and I'm black. When I was growing up, a weave or wig-wearing woman was rare in my community. Almost unheard of.
Pitch the wigs, the style you just did looks beautiful on you
I always thought different hair textures were beautiful, as long as it's healthy. I associate it with personality and self expression.
Even white people in the 70s were trying to rock an afro lol
Thxu for affirm 4c hair!!!
