Nice video. This is a lovely little lock, and we enjoy taking the students in here for some mooring practice (and beer practice at the Shipwreck!). The key is to make sure the stern or mid line is secured first... if the bow is tied on first then the stern shoots out and the crew can't tie on. It is also very pesky with a strong wind coming from astern as stopping the boat in a straight line is challenging. And then there is the strong cross tide in the approach to manage as well!
Within cycling distance of home. I've had many good pints and lunches in The Shipwreck. It was possibly my late father's favourite pub - they did use (I've not been there since he died - too many memories) to have a splendid selection of Whisky behind the bar. Lovely video thank you
Doing a bit of Pure & Applied “Gongoozling” there BOBBO? I forgot the longboat wasn’t in the lock when we went up a canal near Reading. How embarrassing when Neal said “”Oi, what about the boat”? Do’h. Greetings from BONBEACH Melbourne Victoria Australia.
"There's nothing, simply nothing, quite like messing about in boats. In them, on them, around them. Nothing quite like it." Said the Water Rat. (Maybe not a word for word quote, but you get the idea!) I miss sailing. Used to run a sailing/ dive charter down in Tortola in the BVI's.
Pete, glad to see you've given Deano a day off without supervision. Question...which one of those off loaded containers has Deano's next project? Looks like a perfect day to be out and about. Jim
Now that was enjoyably different! What a wonderful way to spend a day with your better half. Hope you two enjoyed a meal while there. By the by, which of those beautiful yachts was yours?
G'day, They show quite the turn of speed, do they not, scudding along under Bare Poles at 8 Knots, like as if they had a Diesel-Tops'l, or something ; Witchcraft maybe, Spellcasting, & Occult Rituals, perhaps...? lol (!). Have a good one... Stay safe. ;-p Ciao !
lol - hi m8 - hope alls ok down under - just a good old diesel 3 cylinder with a fast response reverse to stop them from ploughing through the lock gates !
