    In Part 1, we cover how to decide if carrying a gun is the right choice, how to weigh the consequences of carrying a gun at work, and how to determine how much concealment you need to avoid a negative outcome.
    In addition to the tips and instructions linked above, you can find help with the principles behind concealment on our website in the "Educational Resources" drop down menu, and by clicking on "Basics of Concealment Mechanics" or by following this link: www.phlsterholsters.com/the-basics-of-concealment-mechanics/

    Not only policy but many hospitals and medical offices make it illegal. Besides the ER being a dangerous depending on then city and location, just walking to and from the parking lot to the hospital can be a big risk. No amount of security guards can help. Most are extremely over weight , out of shape and older. It should be our right to be able to protect ourself.

      My job has a no weapons policy. Security can't even have pepper spray or a taser and we live in an area with lots of drug problems. We get attacked every single week during our shifts and sometimes there's weapons involved. This was the final push for me to get my ccw lol

    Love to see "normal" people asserting their message, and busting the narrative of the "typical"(read: stereotypical) gun owner. That narrative is designed to be divisive. More of this please. :)

    Have been carrying in scrubs since this came out a few months ago. You guys crushed this. It’s the best addition I’ve ever made to my EDC gear.

    As a health care worker, these are all valid points. Thank you for this series. I am a new and satisfied owner of the Enigma Express. For now i have decided not to carry while working.

    Thank you for this series.
    Risk of violence is pretty high where I work, but also are the consequences for getting caught.

      It might be worthwhile to consider some other personal defense options other than a firearm (e.g. baton, pepper spray, "tactical pen", etc)

      @@jsquared1013 got those squared away. Used to carry a gun despite the risk. Running to a code blue in the MRI room can make you think differently.

    This is undoubtedly one of the best videos I’ve ever heard on this topic. She speaks with something that is well planned and outlined, and with a purpose in the production of the video is second to none. Thank you so much for this production and all of the videos associated with it.

    My local hospital has a "no weapons" policy posted. Last I went through a security guard who knew me, I said "I'll need someone to get all your pens, pencils, keys, scalpels, and shoelaces and bring them down here." With a straight face. He looked at me and said "Huh?" And I just said "No weapons, right? That works two ways." He got the point. He just waves me through now.

    Easily one of the best conversations on assessing personal risk and using common sense to drive decision making. Thank you for "putting off" the voices of the internet and referring to your own personal and situational risk matrices.

    Excellent video. I used your risk assessment methodology and created a chart to help me (and others) to decided which medical supplies to include in first-aid or first-aid / trauma kits for various environments i.e., home, vehicle, backpacking, range, etc.

    Thank you for making this. I had to do this myself while working in San Francisco. I work in tech and had to really decide if it was worth it, In the end I decided it was. But now I work from home, so my gun is always on my desk! Lol

    I carried a knife in an ankle/calf sheath when I worked 10 hour nights in an ER that was nicknamed the “Knife and Gun Club”. Never needed it, and got varicose veins pretty badly on that calf, and they are still a problem 20 years later.

    Personally, I get the risk assessment. I choose to carry daily at home. Question: I have a desk job and prefer to have my weapon on my person because I get up and move during the day. So if I use an Enigma chassis+ my holster, how does it feel after of 2-3 of sitting. Can you get through a day sitting at a desk with enigma & holster without any hot spots or discomfort?

    So how does the risk assesment matrix work? I dont understand it really. Does each one come out with a score? Or is it just a way to visualize the different risks and outcomes?

    It's hard for me know when to carry inside a building. I'm the drug tester so you can imaging I get threatened often. My clients include hospitals and even police. If I get caught carrying inside, it's prison time but I have had a person try to attack me inside the building. Also, a person could get to their car before me and ambush me between the building and my car.
    Is there a way to legally carry in these places simular to how police can carry inside a hospital?

    • @PHLster
      @PHLster  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      You should consult with a legal expert who knows the laws and ordinances in your jurisdiction.

    So, does your hospital know? I have to think yes because you're an owner of phlster!
    Is it just agreed that you will stay out of the mri room?

    I catch women staring at my crotch daily when I'm at work which makes it feel like not worth the risk of aiwb carry. I have been using an ankle holster while at work. Ive ordered an enigma and I'll see how it looks when in my work scrubs, but i think it'll print quite a bit since the fabric is too soft and flows. At least I'll be able to enjoy it when aiwb carrying outside of work.

      The ER. Or as we call it, ED (emergency dept.). How many times I've seen a mental-health or excited-delirium Pt launch out of the Pt room past security in a split second, and we dog-pile him.

      Just because it's prohibited doesn't mean it's illegal. I worked at a job that forbade firearms & knives, and I carried both on my body every time I worked. No one ever knew! In my case, it was a part-time job, so, if I were discovered and fired, it wouldn't have been a big deal. YMMV.

      Yep I noticed that too. The thing you can't notice is that while watching this video, I'm wearing my "Check out my six pack" shirt and a picture of each of the 6 primary dice.
      I actually have a d100. We have to roll it inside a box so it doesn't roll off the table.

      Fairly safe doesn't mean its safe. Also, you may be wearing scrubs all day from hospital, walking to the nearby mall, etc.

      You do? People come in from a fight, gangs, on drugs, people also have come in on drugs, LSD out of there mind and list goes on. It’s rare but it’s happened.
      Iv taken a few self defense classes and don’t see myself carrying. At my home we have swords ⚔️ and many other items. There’s no after work happy hour if you carry a gun. I wouldn’t leave it in my car. Too many factors. IM OUT.

    • @pastorpaulfbc
      @pastorpaulfbc ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Virtually no place is "safe" from a determined criminal, intent on wreaking havoc in that particular place. Think about a domestic violence situation. It doesn't matter where the targeted spouse works; the angry spouse may well decide to violate every rule/law in existence to achieve his goal of hurting or killing the targeted spouse. The likelihood of collateral damage in such a situation is high--not to mention that of an active shooter whose goal is to run up the body count. Wherever that shooter decides to do his deed is right where it's going to happen, regardless of rules/laws!
