A few tips from a sick kid who became a chronically ill adult: When you make the appointments for the draws, ask if you can have the pediatric phlebotomist do it. They’re much more likely to be kind and not pushy - or outright rude - about your situation. Music, sugar (lollipops/sucking candies), fluids - water or Gatorade, alcohol prep pads for nausea (to sniff - do NOT consume medical alcohol!) are all great ways to help get through the unpleasant parts. Picking a non-swear swear is also useful. Mine has been “Henry Kissinger” since 2007. I do warn people in advance that it’s basically a swear so they don’t think I’m invoking that genocidal monster lol. Sending love your way!
Ohh, I forgot the lidocaine. Thank you! I don’t know the current general - or her OBs specific - guidelines on NSAID use in pregnancy. So be sure to check with whoever prescribed your draws first. But for the non-pregnant people who aren’t getting any clotting factors checked, absolutely! 👍
Tip for blood tests that I never follow myself and always regret: drink loads of water. Make sure you are 100% hydrated. If you’re dehydrated you’re more likely to feel sick and faint. I never drink enough water and always feel sick and faint and only have myself to blame 😅

I was distracting myself pretty wel for the first couple minutes but then i started feeling it coming on and only had enough time to tell the nurse that i didnt feel good before i woke up on the floor lol😅 The staff said in the future i always need to be lying down to have my blood taken so if i faint they can still finish getting all the blood haha
Congratulations! Maybe take a page out of Jordan and McKays book. They have a nickname for their child that they use with their followers so they don't have to say the real name

oh this is so exciting!! im also pregnant right now (16w+5d) and weve shared so many experiences already. I have always had a very rough time getting blood drawn, but during pregnancy ive had such an easy time, I guess because of differences in blood pressure before vs during pregnancy. I had to do an early glucose test because of a history with PCOS, and was very nervous aboutbit, but it was pretty easy going for me. I was able to eat a protein bar immediately following the draw so the sugar crash wasnt absolutely horrible, and i totally recommend doing that instead of eating the crackers or cookies your phlebotomist might offer. Cant wait to see your content relating to child rearing in the future!
Awwww!! This is so sweet!! ❤ congratulations!! 🎊 sending all the best wishes for a good pregnancy and labor! It’s so wild to see it from another person’s perspective. My pregnancies (and discovering of them) was so different. Congrats again!!

OMG!! Congrats!! I'm so happy for you guys!! You are one of my most favorite people on this website and you have been for years and it warms my heart to see you so joyful!!
So excited for you! I completely relate to the vasovagal symptoms when giving blood. It sounds like you are doing everything right. Super proud of you for knowing yourself and what you need. I like to put the ice-pack behind my neck when lying down. I learned this from a doctor that it slows down that response. When I started doing that, I stopped passing out.
Congrats Tiffany!!! I'm so excited for you and your husband. My husband and I are just starting our conception journey, so I really appreciate your joy and candor on this subject 🥰

Still only at about 5 weeks, so what you said about the emotional side of early pregnancy is definitely my daily life right now 🤠 Hope the rest of the road is easy and healthy for you and the little girl!
Congratulations!! 🥰 Being a parent is challenging for sure, but if you become one because you want to, it's awesome as well. Getting to watch another person be born and grow and change, and learn about life and themselves, and follow their journey so closely, is such a privilege, and getting to know this new little person is so cool 😄 my kids are 14 and 17 now, and I love having conversations with them - I always have
Just paused your video at the point where you’re taking about how your daughter is going to be the coolest and how you can’t wait to meet her and YES 1000% YES. I have a 2 and a 1/2 year old daughter and literally every single day I’m in awe at how her personality is soooo her own mixed with her taking little bits of things that she hears and sees and claiming them as her own. It’s so adorable to see her get excited about things and hear the things she says and you really start to realize how she thinks about the world, it’s all so amazing every single day. Yes there are hard moments but i really feel so happy hanging out with her every day and I’m so excited that you’re going to experience this. 😭🫂❣️ You’re going to be such an amazing mama!

Now why am I crying? 😭 Congratulations to you and Nathan! I'm so excited to see how parenthood shapes your perspective and future analysis videos. This is so exciting.
Congratulations!!! I’m waiting for my first scan as an anxious FTM and this was a really nice reminder to just relax and enjoy this wild journey ❤️🐣
oh this is so exciting!! im also pregnant right now (16w+5d) and weve shared so many experiences already.

AHHHH LETS GO GOOOO. CONGRATULATIONS GIRLIE ❤️🔥💞✨💞✨💞✨🎉🎉🦋
i’m so happy for you!!! and excited for the family to grow !
Congratulations!! Sending ALL of the love and support, you're going to LOVE parenting 💝
Wishing you a healthy, happy life with your family.

CONGRATULATIONS!! 🎉🎉
how sweet to see this!! I’ve been following the channel since the college app days, and I found out last week that I’m pregnant for the first time too.
Getting to watch another person be born and grow and change, and learn about life and themselves, and follow their journey so closely, is such a privilege, and getting to know this new little person is so cool 😄 my kids are 14 and 17 now, and I love having conversations with them - I always have
I never clicked on a notification so fast, congratulations!
Congratulations! I’ve been watching you for years and this is wonderful to see! Wishing you all the happiness!
Fantastic news!!! Congratulations to you both. It is the best journey I’ve ever been on and I wish you all the best!
