    I used a simple airflow gauge on my Samarai twin Delorto carbs. Worked well. Adjusted mixture with a quartz see through spark plug.

    Do you know if all DHLA 40 emission carbs are the same, or are there several versions of f.ex. the DHLA40H with progression holes for different engines? I know that the DHLA 40 performence carbs are specific for the size of the engine (ex. a DHLA for a 1300 on a 2000 will have an uncurable lean spot due to the progression holes)

    • @thisquietplace
      @thisquietplace 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess my question is; do all DHLA40H emission carbs have the exact same progression holes?

    • @Classiccarbscouk
      @Classiccarbscouk  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is the size of the inside diameter of the barrel, 40mm, 45mm, 48mm and effects the volume of air and the speed of its flow

    What should be the right number on the meter? I need to set my 40s. Ta

    • @Classiccarbscouk
      @Classiccarbscouk  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The number is not important, it is the matching of the numbers between the carbs.
      The master carburettor is the one with the throttle lever, and the slave carburettor is the one with the balance lever (one with the springs attached). The slave carburettor gets adjusted - by using the airflow meter to take the reading as you adjust it - to match the master carburettor.
      if the master read 4kgf , the adjust the slave , so that too, reads 4kgf.
      it could be 3kgf, it could be 6kgf, it doesn't matter. just match them up.
      obviously 6kgf, is flowing more than 3kgf,
      6kgf would have higher idle rpm, than 3kgf.
      Also, use the meter, to check the airflow on each barrel of the same carburettor.. this will tell you if the barrels of the carburettor are pulling the same ammount of air. if there is any significant difference in airflow between the 2 barrels of the same carburettor, it means that your spindle is bent, or the throttle valve/butterflies are not sealing the barrel correctly, and you won't get the engine to run well whatever you do. you will need to strip the carb, and repair the fault.
      if the 2 barrels are matched up nicely, and drawing in the same kgf, then you are good to go ahead and balance the 2 carburettors, and do burnouts.

      The 151 model has an adjusting air bypass screw for each barrel, why not using this to adjusting the flow after we adjust the 2 carbs? Or when is the right time to adjust by there? Tnx

    Nice job. What did you use for a fuel pump and did you use a pressure regulator. Cheers

    • @Classiccarbscouk
      @Classiccarbscouk  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, This one had a fuel pump + fuel pressure regulator.
      You could just use a WFP502 pump, and use it without a regulator:
      classiccarbs.co.uk/product/weberdellorto-twin-40444548-carbs-12v-electric-fuel-pump-dcoedhlaidfdrla
      ALternatively, a Facet pump + pressure regulator combo like here:
      classiccarbs.co.uk/product/weber-dellorto-solex-su-carbs-facet-electronic-12v-fuel-pump-kit-200bhp
      And the fuel pressure regulator:
      classiccarbs.co.uk/product/weberdellortosusolex-carbs-malpassi-fuel-pump-pressure-regulator
      Thanks,
      Emmanuel
