This might be a weird comparison but I personally consider Cody vs Roman to be the modern equivalent of Hogan vs Andre at Wrestlemania 3. Maybe not a technical masterpiece, but an absolute spectacle in terms of storytelling and moment which makes it an all time classic. While Sami Vs Gunther was the match that stole the show, just like Macho Man vs Ricky Steamboat did at Wrestlemania 3.

Let’s be honest Bayley vs iyo was the best pure fight of the night, the main event has star power and story but the MATCH of the PLE was bay vs iyo. The Gunther vs zayn is second and then Cody vs Roman is third. That’s my top 3
It had the best ending of any Wrestlemania, the best women's championship story (and match), Gunther vs Sami, The Rock looking incredible, Wrestlemania 40 was perfect imo
Imo, the Usos match was definitely the most disappointing. Both tag matches kinda just felt like tv matches. And night 1's main included waaay too much stalling and crowd pandering. No bad matches though. Sami and Gunther was my match of Mania. I love both those two to death. May Gunther be the next heavyweight champ
Listen I like Becky vs Rhea, but Bayley vs Iyo was better. In my mind, Cody vs Roman was the best "sports entertainment" match while either Bayley vs Iyo or Gunther vs Sami was the best wrestling match. Also, no way the US title triple threat is worse then the six pack ladder match. The US triple threat was one of the best matches of the weekend while the six pack challenge was your standard multi man ladder match with a nice ending
I was there for Night 1 and myself and those around me thought that Jimmy vs Jey was just starting to get interesting when it ended. I’m genuinely shocked to find out it had gone on for 11 minutes
I agree with the Top 5 but would have had it as 5. Seth/Drew 4. Rhea/Becky 3. Cody/Roman 2. Sami/Gunther 1. Bayley/IYO I did enjoy all the matches, but am a little tired of WWE's main event style being finisher spam. Especially compared to other places where it seems they've moved on from that and have a bit more focus on in-match stories = That's why my top 2 is different, they really had in-match narratives that all the moves helped progress and didn't just kinda copy that Brock/Goldberg match from 2017. I guess you could say there were kickouts in the GUNTHER match, but he doesn't really have a set finisher, more that every move he hits can be a finisher.
Iyo vs Bayley is getting over looked because it was right before the main event which was probably the best match of the decade so far and I also think many people didn’t like Iyo skys reign up to that point because they weren’t giving her the time in ring to show how good she really was so many weren’t invested in the match and had to be won over where Rhea Ripley is seen as a mega star and doesn’t have to prove herself in the ring and naturally gets over
The only thing missing from the title match? A Zayn/Owens run in. Zayn absolutely should have been part of that match, as it was his performance over the last 15 months that brought a whole bunch of fans back to the E.
I still don't know what people were expecting with Jey vs Jimmy Uso. It was good on paper, but people should have known it was going to be a superkick and splash festival 🤷♂️

I really didn't care for Zayn vs. Gunther. There comes a point where the hero withstanding a crazy amount becomes ridiculous and that match wheezed past that point at breakneck sped. the best spot is from Joaquin Wilde who isn't even in the match, at that point why didn't they do a mixed 5v5 (LWO+andrade+rey+ zelina vs santos berto angel dom and elektra) leaving Carlito out to betray Rey's faction because it would have made a lot of sense and Carlito as a face doesn't work

I love Bayley so much. 5. Rock/Roman vs Cody/Seth. 6. Six pack ladder match. The right winners. Also, the wrong winners. 7. AJ vs LA. 8. Becky vs Rhea. Fair play to Becky for coming out while sick to her gut, but you could tell she wasn't able for it. 9. The Street Fight. It was eight minutes of mindless fun, I thought it was fine. 10. Andrade/Mysterio vs Escobar/Mysterio. Good match but the build lets it down. 11. US Title triple threat. It's Logan Paul, it can't go higher than here. 12. Cargill, Naomi and Belair vs Damage CNTRL.Yawn... 13. Uso civil war... It wasn't good. I'm sorry. They're not that good as wrestlers, they need to improve their movesets.
A lot of things on the wrong order, but most obvious is the IC match. That's arguably top 10 mania match of all time. Yes, the main event on night 2 was fantastic due to the run ins, but the best match over the weekend was the IC title match. Also, both women's matches and the ladder match were miles better than Seth and Drew. There was only one bad match over the 2 nights.
Ill say it, this was the best mania ever. Followed by 17, 31, and 39. The only match that wasnt at least "good" was jimmy vs jey. It was so disappointing. Id also say that id swap iyo/bayley and rhea/becky. The bayley match was a bit better
io v bayley underrated here. as a pure wrestling match, for me it was the best of the weekend. taking booking and "entertainment" etc into account, for me it is still no lower than 3rd. all about opinions though...
Best of the weekend is a stretch. Not because it wasn't awesome and possibly the best match of Mania but weekend means throwing in Dijak v Briggs v Oba and Superheroes v Wolfdogs. I've not rewatched them all so can't call. But on first watch I did think the triple threat was the best match of the weekend. BUT Bayley v IYO is going to be considered a Mania classic in the future and already seems to be rightly growing in reputation even just after a couple weeks.
The inly one I disagree with is becky vs rhea. We know why now, but I don't think it ever got going, they blew a few spots and it didn't seem to come together. Down the line this match can steal a show but this wasn't it

C'mon now. Iyo v. Bayley is easily the 2nd best match from this wrestlemania.
You might not care about american football but just know that in the city of philadelphia Jason Kelce and Lane Johnson are massive stars. So it wasn't surprising they showed up. Especially Jason he's a legend in philly.
Thanks 🎉
6:19 I know it says “MAV” but at this angle it is clearly “AEW” 😂😂
The big move after big move match style is defitnetly Paul Heyman.
List was instantly discredited when you rank Rollins vs Drew and Rhea VS Becky over Iyo vs Bayley. Top 2 match the across the entire weekend.
Am I the only one who thinks Rollins vs Drew was actually horrible ? I was so disappointed because I was waiting for it so badly. Thank God postmatch saved the day
The only 2 matches I thought were bad were the Usos and the women's trios match, everything else was good to amazing
I think andrades performance alone puts the match higher, and they were some true wrestlemania worthy spots - not just a tv match
the best spot is from Joaquin Wilde who isn't even in the match, at that point why didn't they do a mixed 5v5 (LWO+andrade+rey+ zelina vs santos berto angel dom and elektra) leaving Carlito out to betray Rey's faction because it would have made a lot of sense and Carlito as a face doesn't work
Oh yes a start of a new series i can watch... YEEEEES
I think night one also suffered the crowd. It was dead watching it
1. Gunther vs Sami Zayn. Match of the weekend for me, I do not care.
2. Cody vs Roman. Overbooking done to perfection.
3. Seth vs Drew. Wrestling is fun.
4. Bayley vs Iyo Sky. I love Bayley so much.
5. Rock/Roman vs Cody/Seth.
6. Six pack ladder match. The right winners. Also, the wrong winners.
7. AJ vs LA.
8. Becky vs Rhea. Fair play to Becky for coming out while sick to her gut, but you could tell she wasn't able for it.
9. The Street Fight. It was eight minutes of mindless fun, I thought it was fine.
10. Andrade/Mysterio vs Escobar/Mysterio. Good match but the build lets it down.
11. US Title triple threat. It's Logan Paul, it can't go higher than here.
12. Cargill, Naomi and Belair vs Damage CNTRL.Yawn...
13. Uso civil war... It wasn't good. I'm sorry. They're not that good as wrestlers, they need to improve their movesets.
Bayley vs iyo is better than rhea and becky
Even considering the Uso match. I don’t think there was anything outright bad on this card. Great mania
How could you watch WM40 and pick Rhea over IYO's match? It's a good thing this is subjective.
Ill say it, this was the best mania ever. Followed by 17, 31, and 39. The only match that wasnt at least "good" was jimmy vs jey. It was so disappointing. Id also say that id swap iyo/bayley and rhea/becky. The bayley match was a bit better
How Reigns and Rollins are not on the thumbnail of this video..?
Please do this with the other WrestleManias!!! At least the last 30 😅😅😅
Not having Iyo and bayley in top 3 is a travesty
I think the USO match could have been better if it had a stipulation like Last Man Standing
Cody/Roman should have been #12, and Rock/Roman vs Cody/Seth should have been #1. Also Io/Bayley was top three easy
io v bayley underrated here. as a pure wrestling match, for me it was the best of the weekend. taking booking and "entertainment" etc into account, for me it is still no lower than 3rd. all about opinions though...
@@fromomelastocarcosa3575 i really meant specifically of the mania shows. but you're right, the nxt triple threat was great.
The inly one I disagree with is becky vs rhea. We know why now, but I don't think it ever got going, they blew a few spots and it didn't seem to come together. Down the line this match can steal a show but this wasn't it
1. Cody vs Roman
2. Sami vs Gunther
3. Bayley vs Io Sky
4. Rock/Roman vs Seth/Cody
5. Seth vs Drew

8. Rhea vs Becky
9. Aj vs La knight
10. Jade/Naomi/Bianca vs dmg ctrl
11. Pride vs final testament
12. Rey/ andrade vs dom/santos
13. Jey vs Jimmy
