    How amazing that my two favorite guitarists are not slowing down, but actually getting more awesome over time.

      Eric Garland definitely more refined over time, same with Jeff Beck

    You can tell in this performance Eric had fun with the actual song for the first time in years.

    Eric might be the best guitar player in the world. When I listen to him, I hear that same genius Tommy Emmanuel has. His clean sound is the best you can get out of a bridge pickup. I don't know how he does that.

    Damn, I wish the guitarist in my band could get a tone like Eric's--so smooth and pleasant. Our guitarist is ear-splittingly shrill.

    • @lesrankin1767
      @lesrankin1767 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Is his amp pointing at the backs of his knees? If so, tilt his cab so it's pointing at his head. If that doesn't work, show him where his amp's treble control is. Most important, does your band have a (pardon my French) Band Cunt? Every band needs one, and it's essential that the BC explains from the outset that suggestions made in the studio are not personal attacks. Rather, there has to be acknowledgement that during a song's construction you are all ego-free cogs and sprockets, and whatever it takes to achieve a result should be given a shot. Good luck..

    Man! Gotta start listening to Eric Johnson more!! Excellent player! Not sure what the shield in front of the drummer is for? Anyone? Protect Eric's hearing? Protect the drummer from flying objects from audience members?! lol

    • @gregorglasbruch6917
      @gregorglasbruch6917 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Eric had a serious tinnitus some years ago. Therefore, the drum shield is to reduce stage volume. Al di Meola‘s drummers and percussionists have the same thing for the same reason.

    • @psgouros
      @psgouros 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Drums can’t be turned down, you can sort of think of the walls as on stage mixing controls if you’re not intending to turn the guitars up to matching volume. Also cuts down on mic bleed for the PA system.

    • @gregorglasbruch6917
      @gregorglasbruch6917 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      He uses a butler tube driver, which has a the treble turned down, to boost a Marshall plexi. The Marshall has also treble and presence turned all the way down.

  • @Golfer964

    Eric Jonson is Beter when he is just warming up, than 99 5 % of players are for the entire night! I think he is better than Eddie Van Halen, who was the top 5 !

      Qual o problema com Estes 3 geniais guitarristas que você citou? Steve Vai, Joe Satriani e Brian May são lendas meu amigo...

  • @elpablosky6300
    @elpablosky6300 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Johnson is epic !!!
    Satriani and Vai are more like the Tournament of " Who make more noise and crazy techniques " and Gary Moore (RIP) and John Norum ( Europe band , guitar player) thought about this G3 acrobatics guitar players was this :" Is boring see this guys and is like the Circus come to the city ".
    The opinion even involve Yngwie when he doing his kick and the teeth playing !
    Guys like Johnson deserve more credit than Satriani and the guitars showman's.

    • @evanlevenseller3080
      @evanlevenseller3080 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Tom Cass coming from a very experienced guitarist, I wont lie for years I completely understood how good Joe Bonamassa was I just never got into his music all that much. But I refuse to not listen to great guitar players music, and as soon as I watched the Royal Albert Hall concert it showed me just how good he is as a guitarist and artist.

    • @kimmolingonheimo
      @kimmolingonheimo 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      correction, once again I got one of my strats from the closet, tuned it, tried an old pedal and it worked, like I did..., pedals make me play, but the string balance n feel is the first two ones.., omg, ha, the pedal Tomsline Tube Pusher is good! I had it on side by side with one of my favs THE Looking Glass and I didnt need the Looking Glass! UNheard of! its good to have some guitars n pedals, they make my world go round! cheers ! : )

  • @MeAndTheBoys_
    @MeAndTheBoys_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    When Eric switches the drive on,his playing gets....forced. When he is playing with clean sound,he is showing where his talent really lies,its in the harmonic structure of music. With the overdrive,he just resorts to that same descending pentatonic run as always,he just literally plays that same run,but from different key of course. Its like everytime he switches the overdrive on,he loses so many things that make him unique. But of course,he wants to show the fast runs to people,its the obligatory thing to do. That is what sells the tickets,especially in the U.S.
