I finally found a complete and exhaustive guide on how to open the Surface laptop. Especially because you are precise and professional. Thanks to you I now know the type of screwdriver to use.
I will be honest, this laptop is a pain to repair. Having to buy an uncommon screwdriver because you guys decided that a normal PH0 isn't good enough is an annoyance. The two different foot pads are also an odd decision? I like the one with the three directional sides as they stay well put, however the other two come off a bit too easy. But once you have the screwdriver it's quite easy, but why not go the whole way to make it very easy and use normal screws.
It is in the "Surface Diagnostic Toolkit" which I think is already loaded on Surface products (well, at least on my Surface Laptop 4). Not sure if it is just me, but I can't run the file nor run the display repair in the SDT, but I really didn't need to as it worked fine after I replaced the touch-screen. I do have an issue where the calibration doesn't run, but it did that even w/ the old original screen. Go figure...I ran SFC and DISM and there doesn't seem to be any issues. But at least it works and not being able to calibrate isn't big issue as I don't have the pen and a finger isn't especially precise.
@@nohandlehere55 No it isn't, it's something Microsoft don't want to share. If you look on the video (26:25) this software is loaded from a flash drive. Cheers for trying to help all the same.
@@fishsticks888 I downloaded a version from the MS website and don't know if the versions are the same. I had to go into "Technician" mode to get some of the additional Repair features. However, I can't say the SDT worked putting it into that "mode" the video says and it seems I really didn't need it for swapping the screen on a Surface Laptop 4. Really frustrating as the instructions seem to put the fear that you must do that step. Good luck, but I was able to swap it out w/o totally messing up.

I know regulations are forcing these "right to repair" videos, but from a repair guy perspective, this is anything but easily repairable! How about designing the next generation around screws and a single screwdriver, like always has been?
You have to understand that this is a "4 videos in 1". Each part can be used as a separated video and that's why they have to show every step from the beginning.

I like the part about alignment adjustment. So satisfying to watch
Honestly same!

When are we getting a surface laptop 2 version or is its omission admitting that its unrepairable?
I wonder if this Laptop can use power directly from the charging adapter if the battery is damaged or there is no battery?

Tbf, I don't think it's that hard 😅
Which step you think is too hard to do?
@@chrisblack6258 You certainly don't work for the hour.
It's really, really unnecessary to repeat how to remove the feet, the keyboard, and reinstall those multiple times. Very poorly edited video
