I like how this sets a difference between civil protection units, who are volunteers, and combines, who are genetically modified humans.
Existing Campfire this wasn't a combine soldier though, it was a brainwashed civil protection elite unit
Well not genetically augmented more mechanically I believe
actually combine work as the civil protection are just people who follow the combine and follow there orders they aren't messed with in any way shape or form, soldiers and elites however are modified to not feel any emotions whatsoever and only know to follow orders, the worst part is same goes for the synths (striders, hunters, gunships etc) they are altered with modification to be deadly war machines but they used to be alien species but they were claimed by the combine. And that is some HL2 trivia for you.
Elite civil protection units are modified. Pretty sure they had their eyes amputated and replaced in the beta so it's true here too.
I dont know why I find the last CP at 3:34 who heard the rogue hitting the city scanner like "tf?"
I wish there were rogue CPs in Half-Life 2 during the uprising...

Not really, most of their occupance are loyal members to the Combine due to their trust in hospitality by giving them the goods. they still have a dispatcher with them, even in the uprising. so their still following orders. either protecting the corners of the city or leaving the city, but still remaining inside the Combines arms.
oh really and where is this group attempting to escape the city? If you are refering to them at the end of episode one then no they aren't rogue.
I agree. The Metropolice Pack for GMod/SFM (some are used in this video) has a Resistance Officer, and I think it'd be cool to see them around.
Barney at some point is a rogue metrocop. Even though he was undercover all along.
In Episode 1 I believe, Barney makes mention of "Chickenshit metrocops having second thoughts of defending city 17".
The MetroPolice unit raises his pistol to the back of the Unit's head, and before he pulls the trigger he says under his breath, "Amputate".

Shadow Hunter This is *very* late, but in CP radio code, Amputate means to Execute. Killing a rebel would be an amputation.

I love the idea of Combine soldiers trying to rebel. I hope they touch on that more in a future half life title. Maybe even in Half Life 3 one of the main characters could be a transhuman or civil protection that joined the resistance

Yeah but it would be cool to see a transhuman soldier that still had some humanity left in him. Like the brainwashing effect didn't work or only worked partially.
I wish valve makes a Half-Life game where you are playing as a Civil Protection Unit who got his memory back and becomes a Combine Rebel.(not Barney Calhoun)

I like how instead of running he takes up his role as a guardian for the two, likely accepting a manhunt and possibly death as a consequence. Hence, "Protector".

Jack Darktail CPs are neutral in the intro to hl2, you can also edit player-npc relationship in garry's mod to be neutral until attacked

Why do the combine treat citizens like this
Because the Combine don't want the chance of humanity growing back up to strength. When the Combine subjugated Humanity after the 7-Hour War they installed a 'Suppression Field' preventing humanity from having children. The Combine execute any couples they find as a way to scare humanity from ever having bonds of relationship and they do this to eliminate any shred of hope that one day Humanity will one day be free.

It's also kind of the point why cps have vo coders, so their voices are indistinguishable and preserve officer anomity.. although it doesn't seem necessary or why it even matters in the world like Half-Life 2 and how the alien oppressors are taking over the planet, probably for sake of the individual working with the machine - sheep lead to slaughter.

Half-Life's story in general is amazing, and I am super happy that there are these awesome animations made from the game.

The civil protection (like me) are volunteered people to join the combine others (like me) had no choice but to join the combine but it looks like one or more decided to join the resistance (like me)
And they are not brainwashed

+Herbivore The Carnivore Oh it is, my character was a rebel beforehand and some other "Citizen" that wanted to "help" joined but later when my character was walking through the city she saw the other rebel and it turned out that they where a CP that was undercover and thought my character could be of use as a form of soldier/MPF but since the augmentation and brainwashing was a just like very out of the blue so the machine did it and my now OTA character followed the commands given to her by the SeC but one day while being given orders the name of her old self was whispered in a way in the back of her head and said "No" to orders, obviously the SeC gave her a good ol' slap and that made my character aim her AR2 and unload in the SeC's general direction and darting and hiding and living in a lighthouse on a little island, the server has shut down though and my character's story has yet to finish

Damn, this is probably one of the best sfm animations I've seen, the animation of the characters is fluid and natural, the lighting is excellent and really helps to improve the over all look of the video, even the textures and character models are a cut above, something you don't usually seen in these sort of project. Great animation, hope to see more from you.

to be honest in half life 2 lore the rebels get turned into stalkers but i dont think there is any traitor torture since no one dares to disobey once you in you cant get out but if some one betrays the combine i consider that they will get shot on sigh or get turned into stalkers as alyx commented in ep 1 about the wrong place wrong time or resisting
They probably just use torture to get answers. The alien empire that enslave races can be more civilized than humans today..

Lone_Combine They're people who have submitted to the Combine. A lot of them are just assholes since being a CP gives you a better life. Though, the higher rank you are the less of a human you become. The lower the rank you are the more sanity you still have.

No it's not barney as he joined the CP's and was never discovered untill they finally started to do the rebellion shit in city 17 he joined the CP's to spy on their actions and such.

This actually makes sense if you think about it. There had got to be at least SOME people in the Combine who had come to their senses, questioning the way of the Combine and possibly even deciding to rebel against them.

I wish you could see more of this kind of thing in half life. Also I wish their were missions where u could play as combine and resistance fighters. I feel like the combine are portrayed as kind of weak, when in reality they should be really scary with all their advancements and tactical upgrades, their basically all superhuman veterans, not to mention the deep dark vocoder they have that makes their voices sound hostile and ambiguous. There should of been missions where u play as resistance and your team just gets decimated by the combine and their synths, when all of the sudden freeman and another team of resistance comes to the rescue. It would have also been fun doing room clearing like this as a CP officer, only to have a sudden surge of conscious and morality like in this story. In short, awesome story dude, I really hope someone makes a game like this sometime

This is great, really wish there was a good tutorial on how to use Half-Life 2/custom content with SFM, and where to go from there.
Everything I've found has revolved around using multiplayer games like TF2, and using players as actors.

Metro Cops are just people forced into Combine service.
Not really funny, SFMM allows for really gritty films about concepts in games.
It happens, they are just regular people if you played Half Life, well some of them are.
I don't think it's wrong for the CP to go rouge, because CPs aren't brainwashed, they're basically regular humans that decided to join the Combine Occupation Force, the ones that are brainwashed are the Overwatch Soldiers, and the Elites. And if they don't succeed in the Combine Surgery to become an Overwatch Unit, they just turn into mindless stalkers to do their work in citadels and other combine essentials structure.
