This is such a refreshing look at what it means to be a drummer, the roles they play, and the relationship to culture.

Good work! I really enjoyed that video and the awesome drumming. I have never been to Africa, but I absolutely love this type of music. I also have a Djembe Drum and have taught myself to play it. I have never had a drum lesson and had my drum for nearly 3 years. I am still learning how to play it and hope to get much better at it with practice because I really enjoy drumming.

Thank you. I wish my son was still here so I once again could listen to and watch him play the djembe. Someone borrowed the one CD I had of his drumming, they said they didn't borrow it. It hurts so much.I relied on that CD. My son died 9 yrs ago when the "drama" created by his girlfriend led to his death. He had no reason to think his life would end that day. The bullet hit his neck. He died within moments. He was 35 yrs old. He would have been 44 yrs old this month. Djembe drums were his joy and expression of that joy.

My friend died very young. Her mother was afraid her daughter would be forgotten. She will always be remembered by her friends. Your son will be remembered. I wish I could comfort you 😙
