Hi @LinuxTex please provide a guide on how to install simplescreenrecorder on debian 12, and if it can run on wayland distros. Do you switch to x11 to record or it's usable with wayland?

:) I never had to use Timeshift on a Debian based system - it's that stable. Arch and Tumbleweed, like all rolling releases, are a different story. So, I just use the BU backup script to back up my system on a usb drive. An old sage told me never to throw caution to the wind.
Hey, if you still have the problem, the password is the same that you added for your user, and you can check how to add you user to the sudo list, the file is called sudoers, there are s lot of examples that might help you :)
@@GuilhermeHCardozo Thank you for letting me know. I have switched to Q4 OS. Still want to try linux so opted for a more suitable version. Q4 OS is very customizable and user friendly. I like it. And its software store has almost overwhelming no. of choices. i love it.

Talk about a padded list. The only thing you really need to do after a Debian install is install your favorite applications, and that's mainly because applications are such a personal subject. Under normal circumstances, there is no reason to update the system immediately after install. Even if you use an offline installer instead of a netinstall image, the installer will update all outdated packages during install anyway. The only exceptions are if the installer cannot set up the network, or if you specifically tell it not to download updates. Time Shift, like any other application, is personal preference. Use a separate /home partition and you'll have absolutely no use for it; you can then cleanly reinstall the OS at any time while preserving users' files. I have gone decades without it and have not had any need for it. Maybe more useful on more sketchy, potentially unstable base distros like Arch, but Debian? I don't think so. And why would you bother changing your DNS server at a per-system level through your operating systems, when you can change it on your router and instantly make the changes network-wide?
With the guided graphical installer how do you partition the free space? i cant do it with guided installer and it wont install with the small 1 mb free space.
