- After taking this figure down to show off his combination with RID's Dreadwind & Smokejumper, I decided he needed to be in front of the camera.
So let's take a look at 2002's Ultra Class Armada Megatron.

The combination with Tidal Wave is also an interesting feature. Great review!
For me this is the most iconic Megatron design. Call it unusual or silly all you want, it looks so good next to Optimus.
The color contrast each other, the designs and silhouettes are different, the horns make him look more menacing than the basic bucket head (though yeah they are too big with this toy, the show had much better scale), and having him turn into an army green tank feels very fitting.

I miss the days when Leader Class figures had lights and sounds...
At least they won't be weighed down by batteries.
I, for one, am glad they DON'T... IF the electronics were actually GOOD, and NOT dog$#!t scraping off the bottom of your shoe horrible, then I'd be okay with them... Probably. Sadly, they SUCK 9 times out of 10, and cause an unnecessary increase in the cost of the figure. I'd rather pay LESS, and NOT have them at all.
That's just MY, rather strong, opinion, LOL. 😅
@@shanehai2699 I do agree. You could either imagine what the toy says or do the voice yourself. Imagination is strong in me and will be so until the day I kick the bucket. 😎

The unicron trilogy had for the most part mostly Energon and cybertron toys had fantastic toys

I agree. The "Combiner Wars" attempt at the character wasn't bad, and I do have it (as well as the original), but it was forcing a toy that was never designed to be "Armada" Megatron to try to be "Armada" Megatron. The FansHobby version looks like the figure of this character that we REALLY would have wanted back then - a truly definitive take on the cartoon design.

I've never seen a reviewer go in depth on Armada Megatron as much as you do, but he's kind of a cool figure. Haven't got him, but oh well!!
Armada is the reason I am a Transformers fan today. Although I prefer G1 style transformers now, Armada will always have a place in my ❤️ because I grew up watching it (I was around 7-8 years old). Just thinking about the Unicron Battles intro song makes me want to shed joyful tears. I had almost every Armada figure including Unicron.
Armada Megatron really upgraded himself for the meta at that time: Minicons and hunting down Autobot Aligned Minicons and force them to serve him.
I saw the Gobots reference when you said Leader 1.
Hasbro bought the rights to the GoBots franchise a long time ago, they were likely making use of the licenced names (failure to do so can lose you the rights to it). It's likely why they had a kids' version of TFs & called it ''Transformers Go-Bots''
@@earthmanbrick It's pretty complicated: while Hasbro can use the names, the toys (and the original character designs) remain the property of Bandai. Action Toys also has the toy licence to Machine Robo, thanks to Bandai.
@@twistedgaming9185 Yeah these things often end up getting pretty complicated, you just have to look at the liccencing issues around JetFire/Skyfire between the toy & names between Hasbro & the Macross/Robotech conflicts between various regions.
It's almost as if when it comes to Transformers Licences...there's more than meets the eye...
@@earthmanbrick At least for Jetfire, Hasbro can continue to use him without problems, since they brushed off a lawsuit from (cough, cough) Harmony Gold in 2013.

Megatron: Do what ever what the Squad head say man. David Kaye is a awesome person voice him and Galvatron. The second anime show and also fans is a bit upset that Hasbro reuse the characters names for Mini-con but Transformers Armada is a awesome show. Thank you for the video.

I did get many of these figures back then. Sold off my collection at a Yard Sale cause needed space and extra cash. armada Prime though, something decided to make a home in his box or something and had to toss him.
I liked the Megatron of the series and dug all the gimmicks.
Then Energon got weird.
I like to call the front turret spinning mode gimmick, the "ZZ Top Attack"... 😁
I had this guy back in the day, but since I ALSO had the Galvatron version, which I preferred colors-wise, Megatron was culled, along with the big Optimus Prime figure, and SEVERAL others... MOST of the line, actually... I kept Galvatron, Tidalwave, Overload, Jetfire, and the jets, though I recently got rid of all but Skywarp of the jets, and kept a few others. Needed the space, got a little money, and have been steadily replacing those Armada characters with Generations style updates as they release.
ONE of those replacement figures is the CW leader class version of Megatron. The awesome part is that he STILL combines with Mini-cons AND with Armada Tidalwave!

This was my vert first transformer, I miss it so much haha!
One of the few Armada figures that I like, I much prefer the Energon ones, I like the Energon show as well, it grew on me recently, so much so that I began buying the toys.
Despite It's wonky animation and flaws I enjoyed Energon. If I had the room I'd love to collect the toyline again.

The Armada could have been so much more than what it was. Too many gimmicks hinders articulation and possibility. And some figures was just out right weird in aesthetics. I have the combiners version. Anyway let me stop babbling, great video sir.

Why yes of course @@PatriotPrimeReviews! I was commenting on the fact that more than likely at the time, Takara and the Japanese studios had a stronger influence at the time of the Unicron Trilogy on the character design and direction of the series.
😏 Sure Transformers was Japanese to begin with but watching an even much more Japanese Style Depiction of the series (let alone my favorite series growing up) being reviewed and by someone as Awesome as yourself, is like watching a 2nd Amendment or Gun Channel review a Rifle from Japan @@PatriotPrimeReviews.

Being a Megatron fan o never sold this one.
Well It did for me growing up, mostly cause he was like a Scary Wartorn Emperor, who was doing everything he can to achieve Victory, and in some episodes he actually did @@PatriotPrimeReviews! He also looked a Emperor with his Antlers which I thought were Horns, and yes David is a Bad@$$ Voice Actor! Nevertheless sure with the exception of the Atlantis episode, the first half of the show starts slow. For me at the time being 8 years old and being my second or third Transformers series growing up, I was okay with it's pacing and I thought it was trying to be Relaxing or Emotional. However one of the surprise in this series is Starscream where his character developed extremely and by the end of Armada he actually ends up Dying a Hero. So most fo the fandom even members who don't consider themselves into Armada would admit that it's the best incarnation of Starscream's character to date.
So if you want to see a Developed Incarnation of Starscream's character, I would recommend trying to watch the entire series. But otherwise if you like, just jump into the second half of the series. The pacing does start to pick up by then and by the Unicron Battles, it basically becomes an *Anime made for 📺 Interpretation of the G1 Movie* with some Pokemon and Dragon Ball elements! I guaranteed you will enjoy it by then. So don't worry, when you get the chance like you said in the review, check it out Patriot. Also thanks for responding!
No knee joints on a figure in 2002? It's a really bad comedy.
