- In this DIY video, we are going to take an old skirt and a plain thrifted white blouse and create a one-of-a-kind, wearable art outfit. We will be doing some simple sewing using all upcycled materials. I will take you step by step and show you how to create ruffles from a lace tablecloth, pillow shams and more. We will create beautiful appliques cut from an old curtain and then dye everything apple green. This is a fun unique outfit with a boho vibe that would be wonderful for spring, festivals and St. Patrick's day. Enjoy!

I was in kind of a limbo going between painting and decorating objects, making jewelry, sewing a little, etc,etc. And even though I always jump around between projects I felt like I was in a little bit of a slump. Pure genius! St Patricks outfits are so much fun! Dye it green WOOHOO! Can do! I work at a tea room in a Victorian house where I try to dress in costume with my blouses. I restyle a mens shirt: cut off the collar but leave the neck band. Take off the sleeves. Cut the sleeve off at the elbow and restyle the top half of the sleeve with a large contrasting puff. Last year I found a shamrock print for the upper sleeve puff. Cant wait to wear it! Top of the morning to you. Lets get sewing. Robin in NC USA 2024

Really love the blouse. I am still trying to get up the courage to try dye because it does unify the look. I have a front load washer so I will use a big tub outside to try the dye bath.

I just finished upcycling jeans takes me two days to do one pair lol I always feel like there not good enough to sell
Oh gosh, don't feel like. Just take good pictures and be thorough in your explanation. What's the worst that could happen...a return? No biggie! When I first started making and selling bags, I sewed the straps on the outside by hand, I didn't know what I was doing and no one complained lol! Even until my very last day of selling, I worried that something wasn't right with any particular item. Trust me it's worth the risk. If I hadn't been in a sink or swim situation when I started selling, I might have never tried, so glad I was sort of forced to. Best of luck and please don't let fear hold you back from something that could be amazing. 🤗💕💕💕💕💕💕💕

I dyed some linen shorts that had lace trim around the bottom. The lace was synthetic so it didn’t take. They turned out super cute! The white lace trim looked so awesome my teenager wants some!😁

First, it turned out really pretty even if you had left it the original colors it was very pretty, but the green did make it different and fun for St Patty’s day.
Ok, now I have a question. Did you make 2 skirts? The reason why I ask is because when you first showed it green the flower appliqué was on the same side as your shirt appliqué, which looking at it from my view was on your right side. However, then at the very end of the video it looked like the skirt flower appliqué was on the opposite side of the skirt, which looked like it was on your left side.
Just one skirt, when I film in selfie mode, it flips the image.🤗💖💖💖

I love how everything dyed slightly differently but still blends.
I was really interested in seeing what happened to the purple flowers because purple and green are complementary colors. If you mix complementary colors together you get brown shades (or if you are overdying more muddy colors) but the purple must of had a lot of synthetic fibers to keep the purple tones.

I so wish I could sew! 🧵 I love thrifting and get so many ideas in my head to repurpose items. I even collect items knowing I probably won’t use them but they make me happy- especially vintage cotton fabrics. Maybe when I retire I can learn to sew 🤷♀️
