You made a big mistake if you ever doubted the authenticity of Carlos Alcaraz’s claim to the ATP throne. Now back at the top, at least for now, we can’t help but wonder what makes Carlos Alcaraz so dangerous.

We had to delete a part of the video due to copyright, but here is what we talked about!
    Dropshots
He hit 3 in a row against Medvedev who simply couldn’t do anything about it. Unlike other players who prefer to use the backhand wing to disguise their drop shots, Carlos prefers to make use of his forehand, showing just how much variety he brings to his game.
    Serves
Even his serves which were initially criticized have started to see better placement and consistency. Carlos Alcaraz is breaking the new trend that sees players with the best serves being really tall like 6-foot-3 and above because he is barely 6 feet tall and showing that he is no slouch when it comes to serves. Carlos’ serves have hit past the 135 miles per hour mark and we are beginning to see him hit more aces.
    Footwork
Alcaraz transitions smoothly from the baseline to the net, which is why he has a fluid game. He has no problems with lateral or vertical movements. His footwork is another massive asset that helps him to mix up play.

And now he is a Wimbledon champion. I needed someone like him to appear, for me to keep interest in this sport in post big 3 era. I hope other next gen players can step up their games as well and give him a good competition. I love Alcaraz vs Djokovic, battle of generations, but it can't continue forever. Before you were born, upon Mount Olympus, Zeus, Poseidon and Hades were in the heat of debate:
"My creations are legendary!" Zeus roared.
"Nonsense, they cannot last an hour in my great seas!" laughed Poseidon.
"Fools, death comes for all your creations!" howled Hades.
To end this debate, they created three beings to dominate the tennis landscape: Roger, Rafa and Novak.
Marvelled by their creations and unable to decide which was the best they decided to combine their strength to create a new champion. His name,
    Carlos Alcaraz.

I thought we had seen perhaps the best put together player ever: first in Federer, particularly on a fast court. Then, Nadal on a slow court. And then, Djokovic as a something-fusion of important parts of these two.
Yet Alcaraz looks the best put together player I've ever seen, period - and he's only 19!
That doesn't mean he'll equal the Big 3 yet of course. There's many years to go to see if he can rack up anything like the kind of dominance they did. And even legends will lose occasionally.
But the potential is there. More than any other Next Gens to date, he looks like the complete player in all areas. Only serious injury or mental implosion it seems will hold him back, and he's not shown either yet.
Hopefully, his key long term rivals we'll also know soon enough. Obviously Djokovic and Nadal are still playing, so we'll hopefully see at least a handful of match ups there with those two. But I'd personally love to see him up against a fully switched on Kyrgios at least once - that would be a classic for the ages.

I wouldn't call Djokovic a fusion of Nadal and Federer. He is more a nadalised Medvedev. A really good grinder, similarly good mindset as Nadal (certainly better than Federer), a little faster, a little better returner, less injury prone because of his greater body flexibility. A good server, but not as good as Federer (but not by much).
He is net play could be better and let's not talk about overheads. His shot versatility is not comparable to Federers, I would say that Nadals is also better in this regard.

makes sense apart from the Kyrgios bit. if Kyrgios was serious from young instead of being a showman and a bit lazy he could of been great. but he's loser generally because he doesn't have the mental qualities of great champions (hardly anyone does). and his backhand is a bit meh.

So does he have a large coiling motion or is his swing short and compact? Some of the language here is abit bro science equivalent for tennis.
Alcaraz has such hitting power because his power mostly comes from gravity assisted acceleration.
His preparation is actually quite late for example compared to Fed his take back is high so he drops his racket from high above and to meet the ball he has to "hurry up" so his acceleration isnt that smooth its abit jagged but its really really fast.
Fed gets his acceleration from abit more linear movement and a huge racket flip and lag. He dsnt take back the racket so high and drops is low and flips the racket back alot and has a huge wrist lag angle, from there his acceleration is gradual which is why his swing looks so smooth because.

I disagree that anyone would be making a big mistake about Alcaraz's authenticity to the top of the thrown. As Goatkovic said, he is a fake No. 1 when he first took it last year and is fake No. 1 now. Why? Well that's easy. Whilst the USA continue to discriminate against the GOAT of tennis in Novak Djokovic, he couldnt play in the US Open last year, nor the 6 other American masters last year. And now 2 of the American master this year. Alcaraz can never really truly claim a legitimate world No. 1 without the presence of the GOAT himself competing. It's that simple. You know it, Goatkovic knows it and the rest of you know it. Just don't want to admit it.
Even Alcaraz's US open win last year was fake because the GOAT was discriminated against and not allowed to play. Everybody knows it.
This all said, I'm not saying Alcaraz isn't good. He is great and a sign of things to come. He has all that Novak has in his area arsenal and possibly then some. But not quite the experience and mental resilience that Novak has. Not quite yet, but I'm sure he will.

@@mireafelder8194 let's see now.... Djokovic has more masters titles than anyone else. And he has won each at least twice, whilst no one else has done it even once. He had more Year end No.1s than anyone else. 7 in total. He has more weeks at No. 1 than anyone else. He has won more combined major titles (grandslams, masters, and ATP Tour titles) than anyone else. He has winning records against both Federer and Nadal. He equals Nadal on 22 grandslams but every body knows he would now be 24 to Nadals 21 if he wasn't discriminated against. So actually no, he isn't my personal GOAT. He is the world's GOAT and so say all the experts, because as much as you don't like him, his records and stat's speak for themselves. The fact that Alcaraz best him once and barely, means abolsutley jack. @Transistor Jump yeah I know. And look at him still go. The guy is not a normal 35 year old. None of the so called next gen have been able to gain an upper hand with him. You know that Tsitsipas who was dubbed the next big thing a few years ago also beat Djokovic in their first encounter. Look at the H2H now. Djokovic, whether I'm a fan of his or not, knows how to adapt to situations and has the highest court IQ in the game.
You's may not realise this from our conversation so far, but I am a fan of Alcaraz too. And out of all the next gen, it's only a matter of now short time that Alcaraz will keep beating Djokovic after I'm guessing Djokovic starts declining in about 2 to 3 years time. Holger Rune is also another that Djokovic will find it harder and harder to keep up with. For now, he is still at his peak.
